Abstract: At a source node, a plurality of packets may be determined for transmission to a destination node in a network comprising a plurality of network nodes. A transmission rate of the plurality of packets from the source node to a neighbor node in the network may be adaptively controlled, based on a determination of a current status of the network by utilizing a plurality of parameters that are estimated via a reinforcement learning routing algorithm. The plurality of parameters include an estimated cost value representing a current cost to transmit the plurality of packets to the destination node via the network. Transmissions from intermediate nodes may also be adaptively deferred based on a determination of a current status of the network by utilizing the plurality of parameters.

Abstract: Technologies for quality of service (QoS) management include a computing device having a physical storage volume and multiple processor cores. A management thread reads I/O counters that are each associated with a logical volume and a processor core. The logical volumes are backed by the physical storage volume. The management thread configures stop bits as a function of the I/O counters and multiple QoS parameters. Each stop bit is associated with a logical volume and a processor core. The QoS parameters include minimum guaranteed bandwidth and optional maximum allowed bandwidth for each logical volume. A worker thread reads the stop bit associated with a logical volume and a processor core, accesses the logical volume if the stop bit is not set, and updates the I/O counter associated with the logical volume and the processor core in response to accessing the logical volume. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 10812386
Abstract: A network is configured to utilize available bandwidth to conduct bulk data transfers without substantially affecting the successful transmission of time-sensitive traffic in the network. In order to avoid this interference, the packets carrying data for bulk data transfers are associated with a low priority class such that the routers of the network will preferentially drop these packets over packets associated with the normal traffic of the network. As such, when the normal traffic peaks or there are link failures or equipment failures, the normal traffic is preferentially transmitted over the bulk-transfer traffic and thus the bulk-transfer traffic dynamically adapts to changes in the available bandwidth of the network. Further, to reduce the impact of dropped packets for the bulk-transfer traffic, the packets of the bulk-transfer traffic are encoded at or near the source component using a loss-resistant transport protocol so that the dropped packets can be reproduced at a downstream link.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a selection scheme implemented by a scheduler in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) network to identify which users to schedule simultaneously during the same time slot. For downlink communications and a particular frequency wholeband or sub-band, the scheduler can determine downlink channel information using uplink channel information for channels between base stations and UEs. The scheduler can then determine a strength of the channels using the downlink channel information, order the UEs using a fairness metric based on the channel strengths, and compute one or more QR decompositions to identify whether a spatial dimension of a UE is roughly or approximately orthogonal to spatial dimension(s) of other UEs selected to be served during a time slot being scheduled. If the spatial dimensions are roughly or approximately orthogonal, the scheduler selects the UE to be served at the same time as other UEs already selected.

Abstract: A method for optimization of a standard TCP connection. The optimization is based on load distributions by a system kernel. A proposed architecture includes an application running a proxy-process. The application is connected locally to an assigned port (e.g., port 9000). A number of connections N (for example 4) is established to a proxy server located on the cloud storage. Thus, the application is not directly connected to a front end server. Instead, it is connected to the proxy process via a local port. The proxy process transfers redistributed data streams to the proxy server on the cloud, which combines N data streams into one and passes it to the front end server residing on the cloud.
