  • Patent number: 7470066
Abstract: The present invention provides a transmission pump bearing assembly having an integral seal. The apparatus preferably includes an outer race retained by a pump body such that the outer race is fixed relative thereto. An inner race is disposed radially within the outer race, and is engaged by a damper hub such that the inner race rotates along with the damper hub. The inner race includes a radially recessed portion adapted to accommodate a seal and maintain tight clearance to control leakage. A plurality of bearing members are disposed radially between the inner race and the outer race. The seal disposed within the radially recessed portion of the inner race is configured to engage the pump body and thereby seal an interface between the inner race and the pump body such that leaked hydraulic fluid is restricted from passing therebetween. A bearing cage is configured to axially retain and/or to maintain circumferential spacing of the plurality of bearing members.

Abstract: A bearing unit comprises an outer stationary race (1) with a first inner passage (6) for the air, and two axially adjacent inner half-races (2a, 2b) rotatable with the hub of a wheel. Formed between the inner half-races are essentially radial second inner air passages (7, 71, 72). These passages have surfaces (71d, 72d) inclined forwardly with respect to a direction of rotation (A, B) so as to favor the air flow through the rotating part of the bearing.

Abstract: An improved diesel engine water pump includes three main features that aid in extending the maintenance-free life of the pump. The impeller shaft is carried by tapered roller shaft support bearings of which the impeller bearing has a floating outer race that is urged axially by a preload spring to provide a prescribed axial preload that maintains concentricity of the shaft with the axis and prolongs bearing life. An improved oil seal combines an oil slinger, a stationary deflector and a lip oil seal with a return passage to the engine to more effectively limit oil leakage from the pump. An improved water seal includes pressurized water jets fed from the pump volute that flush wear particles from the water seal surface and increase water seal life. Further details of these features are also disclosed.

Abstract: To supply a pivot assembly for hard disk drive use that can reliably fix a seal member and solve the problem of out gas, thus reducing the expense and time incidental to the pre-load of a ball bearing. Ball bearings have been joined to both ends of a shaft, and on the outer circumference of these ball bearings, the spacer part is joined to a sleeve disposed between both ball bearings, and a seal member that covers the outer end of the ball bearing has been fixed to the outer circumference of the shaft by laser welding. Because the seal member is fixed by laser welding, the seal member can be reliably fixed and the problem of out gas from the seal member can be solved.

Abstract: When an inner race 12 rotates at a speed lower than a predetermined speed, a sealing body 27 contacts the sealing face part 21c, but when the inner race 12 rotates at a speed more than the predetermined speed, a contacting pressure to a sealing face part 21c is reduced or the sealing body 27 is isolated so as to form a non-contacting seal, and therefore, for example, at the low speed, the sealing body 27 forms a contacting seal, thereby to compensate a low speed-low sealing ability of the non-contacting seal such as the labyrinth seal, and on the other hand, at high speed rotation, the sealing body 27 reduces the contacting pressure to the sealing face part 21c, otherwise separates therefrom to form the non-contacting seal as the labyrinth seal, whereby it is possible to solve the problem of heating or abrasion at the contacting part.
