Abstract: A master-slave video playback interface in which a master video player is time based, and a slave video player displays a second video georeferenced to the first, e.g., the georeferenced frames of the second video in closest proximity to those being shown on the master player. The invention allows more efficient simultaneous viewing of multiple geo-tagged videos acquired at a singular geographical location, to compare videos, for example, collected on an oil or gas pipeline Right Of Way (ROW) at different times to monitor encroaching threats to pipeline integrity.
Abstract: An object of a reproducing apparatus according to the present invention is to solve a problem in that, when video data and music data of BGM are played simultaneously as they are, one of them is finished while the other is still playing, and accordingly, this does not provide an effect of sufficiently satisfying the user even though the BGM is inserted. The reproducing apparatus according to the present invention includes a recording medium capable of storing one or a plurality of video data, a network communication section for receiving, from a music server via a network, music-reproduction data having a reproduction time of almost the same length as a reproduction time of the video data stored in the recording medium, and a reproduction control section for simultaneously reproducing the music-reproduction data received by the network communication section and the video data stored in the recording medium.
Abstract: Multiple media devices are synchronized in a multi-media system having a computer system, a plurality of media devices, and a display system. Each media device to be synchronized receives a front-end synchronization signal that periodically increments a front-end counter. The front-end counter represents an unadjusted system time (UST). The media device obtains a frame of data to be displayed from a computer system. The media device also receives a back-end synchronization signal that periodically increments a back-end counter each time a frame of data is to he displayed. The back-end counter represents a media stream count (MSC). UST and MSC data are periodically transmitted to the computer system for analysis and use by a synchronization algorithm. Specifically, UST is transmitted to the computer system each time a frame of data is obtained, and a UST/MSC pair is transmitted to the computer system each time a frame of data is displayed.

Abstract: A wireless media distribution system is provided comprising an access point (6) for broadcasting media and a plurality of stations (2) for reception and playback of media. Each station is configured for receiving and decoding a timestamp in a beacon frame transmitted repeatedly from the access point. This is used to control the output signal of a station physical layer clock (12) which is then used as a clock source for an application layer time synchronization protocol. This application layer time synchronization protocol can then be used in the station to control an operating system clock (8) for regulating playback of media.
Abstract: A data recording device is provided to record and redistribute stream data such as TV programs without imposing loads proportional to the number of users. Stream data of a distributed program is collated by a recording range judging section 4 with data already recorded of a stream data recording section 6 and, based on results from the collation, only newly distributed data is appended to the stream data recording section. Recording demand information representing a range of stream data of a program that a user makes a request for recording is recorded in a range recording section 5 and a user identifier to identify the user is recorded in a manner to be associated with the above recording demand range information. Stream data only in a range corresponding to the above recording demand range information of the user recorded by the above demand range recording processing is read out by a redistributing section 7 from the stream data recording section 6 and is redistributed to the user.
Abstract: Several data streams contain video, audio and/or other data. Some of the data streams are pre-recorded in a multiplex on a storage medium while other data streams are located out of the data stream multiplex on the storage medium. The data streams are synchronized using a navigation file (List_of_PlayItems), which comprises descriptors (Play-Items, SubPlayItems) pointing to parts of said data streams, wherein said descriptors define the arrangement in time for said data streams by means of data sub stream paths.

Abstract: Provided are methods for synchronizing multiple video recordings of the same event using audio signals of the recordings. An algorithm is designed to generate candidate time offsets for pairwise matches of video recordings based on audio signals corresponding to the recordings, and combine the candidate time offsets to obtain the most accurate actual time offset between each pair of recordings. Each candidate time offset for each pairwise match of recordings is assigned a confidence measure indicating how likely it is that the particular time offset is correct for the given pair of recordings. The confidence measure assigned to a particular time offset is based on various components and characteristics of the audio signal pair corresponding to the video recordings.

Abstract: A method and system to permit TV viewers to interact with program content broadcast over a subscriber network, such as cable, satellite, internet, or cellular telephone. The details of the ability for the viewer to interact is embedded as data in the program signal. The subscription provider broadcasts a visual indicator as a small icon during programming that informs the viewer that interaction is permitted. The viewer then uses a remote control to purchase products, vote on events, respond to polls, download files, request information, and request callback actions. The TV viewer uses the remote control to send information to a set-top box front-end application, and to iteratively create transactions that are batched and then sent to a back-end core application and database which then handles fulfillment.
