Abstract: An improved writing instrument includes a main casing, a head portion, a relay rod, and a tail stopper. The head portion can be connected to the main casing and is centrally provided with a tip hole for passage of a reservoir tube. The tail stopper can be fitted to the relay rod. A core tube is disposed between the main casing opposite to a rear end of the head portion and the relay rod opposite to the tail stopper. The end of the core tube facing the head portion is provided with a core chamber, whereas the end facing the tail stopper is formed with a core tube hole. The section of the core tube facing the tail stopper has a smaller external diameter, with two or more ball holes symmetrically disposed therein. A core post is inserted in the core tube and has a post ring of a larger external diameter formed at a rear end thereof to serve as a limit. An intermediate portion of the core post is provided with a core groove corresponding to the positioning balls.

When the button is pressed down by a finger, a thimble will retract to expose the pen point; when it is released, the thimble will close the pen point. Abstract: The present invention provides writing instruments having a mechanism for extending and retracting a writing tip and advancing a lead by rotational operation. The writing instrument is comprised of a front tubular member (1); a front inner tubular member (2) disposed within the front tubular member (1); a refill (3) inserted into the front inner tubular member (2); and a driver (10) mounted in the front tubular member (1) and the front inner tubular member (2). The driver (10) is allowed to rotate but not be axial displaced relative to the front tubular member (1) and the front inner tubular member (2). A rear tubular member (5) is detachably connected to the driver (10) so as not to allow rotation relative to the driver (10). A rear inner tubular member (4) is inserted in the driver (10). The rear inner tubular member (4) and the driver (10) interengage with each other by engagement between at least one axial groove (11) and corresponding projections (12).

Abstract: A bird call striker made up of a body, a dowel assembly, and an end cap. The body has a generally "Z"-shaped channel having an extension slot and a retraction slot. The invention may also have a clip mounted to the outside of the body for carrying on a belt or shirt pocket. The dowel assembly has a rod that slidingly communicates with the guide bushing between an extended position and a retracted position. A knob having a threaded shaft is perpendicularly and transversely mounted to the rod to assist the user in extending and retracting the rod. An extension spring assists in removably locking the knob in the extension slot, thereby maintaining the rod in extended position, and a retraction spring assists in removably locking the knob in the retraction slot, thereby maintaining the rod in retracted position. Additionally, the knob may be twisted to removably engage the distal end of the shaft with the inside of the body, thereby allowing the user to partially extend the rod from the body.

Abstract: A mascara dispenser including a pen-shaped body having a reservoir for holding mascara, an applicator retractably carried by the body so as to be movable between a location in the reservoir and a location outside the body, a wiper for the applicator within the reservoir, and a movable member within the reservoir and responsive to the location of the applicator for keeping the wiper out of contact with the applicator during retraction of the applicator into the reservoir and keeping the wiper in contact with the applicator when the applicator is moved out of the reservoir.

Abstract: A pen possible to sound includes a housing, an ink holder, a fit member, a gear set, and an operative member combined together. An elastic strip is provided in an intermediate portion of the housing, and the ink holder is movably located in a lower portion of the housing. An operative member is positioned in and on the outer surface of the housing, having a rack engaging a pinion of a main gear of the gear set. If the operative member is repeatedly pushed down, the elastic strip is snapped by an eccentric gear of the gear set, giving out sounds.

Abstract: A marking instrument, e.g. a felt tip marker, has a retractable marking tip (4) carried by a marker unit (5) housed within the barrel, and a rolling diaphragm (10) connecting between the marker unit and barrel to form a sealed envelope around the tip (4) when the tip is retracted. Upon retraction of the tip the marker unit rotates to twist the diaphragm and close the envelope.

Abstract: Methods and tools are disclosed for disassembling hand made, high quality writing instruments. Hand made, high quality writing instruments are typically comprised of several different components. The methods and tools allow the individual components of a writing instrument to be disassembled without marring or destroying the components of the writing instrument. The tools for disassembling a hand made, high quality pen comprise a first shaft for removing the pen tip, and a second shaft and spreader for removing the internal mechanism of the pen without destroying the pen's internal mechanism or marring the surface of the pen body.

Abstract: An improved writing instrument preferably made of a clear sheet plastic material and consisting of two principal parts, namely an outer border portion which is preferably about the size of a credit card and an inner pen portion that holds an ink cartridge with a pen point projecting from the end of the pen portion. For storage and carrying, the two parts lie in the same plane, forming a card-like shape. For writing, the pen portion pivots to a comfortable angle on axle pins inserted in the card portion. The user holds the outer card portion and/or the angled pen portion while writing. Both portions are preferably of the same thickness which may be about 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch, the pen portion being approximately 3/4 to 1 inch wide and about 1 to 3 inches long, depending upon the overall size of the writing instrument.

In a second embodiment (130) the outer shell (132) is formed with a thicker wall portion adjacent the writing tip end so that a thread (136) can be formed in the bore. A bushing (140) has an end which is threaded into the bore of the shell with the distal ends of the shell (130) and the bushing (140) being flush and with the bushing (140) protecting the writing tip end from damage. The outer shell (102, 132) of both embodiments can be pierced in a selected pattern showing the outer surface of an inner shell (122, 150) spaced therefrom.

Abstract: An ink cartridge selection control mechanism of a multi-ink cartridge writing apparatus, including a plurality of slides fixed to the ink cartridges which are slidably moved in a respective sliding slot on the barrel of the pen. A plurality of springs are mounted around the ink cartridges between the slides and a locating block inside the barrel of the pen. When one ink cartridge is moved by one slide to the extended position for writing, the rounded end of the respective slide is forced into engagement with an expanded, tapered hole at one end of the respective sliding slot to lock the respective ink cartridge in the extended position. When a second ink cartridge is moved toward the extended position, the slide of the extended ink cartridge is forced outwardly to release the extended cartridge from the locked position.

A writing cartridge, such as a ball point pen cartridge, is fixed to the shuttle and has a writing point which is extendable from and retractable into an opposite end of the anchor bushing.

The holder 12 has guide surfaces 22, 24, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46 and 47 to deflect and orientate the pen 16 as it abuts these guide surfaces under the retractive force for the pen 16 to be automatically received in the seat 20 of the holder 12.

Abstract: Applicator tube for cosmetic products, particularly mascara, having a tubular outer body. A cap fitted on one end of the tubular body has a rod attached to it, and an applicator is attached at the other end or the rod. The applicator is disposed inside the tubular body, in a longitudinally moveable part, and is removable therefrom to apply the cosmetic product. A removable container is at the lower end of the tubular body. A deformable part is disposed above the container whereby pressing down and releasing the cap causes mascara to be drawn into the applicator tube from the removable container to impregnate the applicator, which can then be withdrawn from the tubular body to apply the mascara. In another embodiment, the applicator moves between a retracted position inside the tubular body and an extended position when the removable container is pushed into the tubular body and thereafter withdrawn.

Abstract: A mechanism for housing a writing or marking cartridge includes means for retaining the cartridge in a retracted position within the housing and means for extending the operative end of the cartridge beyond the housing and releasably locking it in place for use. The housing comprises an open end through which the operative end of the cartridge is extended, and a closed end which houses a retaining means for securing the cartridge in the retracted position. The retaining means includes an annular collar which houses a flexible center section having fingers adapted to capture the support end of the cartridge. The means for extending the cartridge comprises a telescoping helical coil member frictionally secured on its outer end to the interior of the housing and on its inner end to the cartridge.

The main body is pivotable about the in-turned ends of wires attached to and depending from an overlying cap/actuator. In a second pivot position the writing element is free to recede within the main body under the urging of the spring.

An element slidably disposed in the second member has openings which can be moved into alignment with the plate and member openings or which can be moved out of such alignment. A brush having parallel bristles with powder applying tips is disposed in the third member with the tips disposed adjacent the second member. The brush and third member have manually operated cooperating elements for establishing a first position at which the bristles extend almost entirely out of the third member and a second position at which the bristles are disposed within the third member.

The other end of the first member has a plurality of spaced openings. A second hollow elongated member has one end with like openings which is engaged to the other end of the first member. These two members have a first position of relative rotation at which the openings are aligned and a second position at which these openings are out of alignment. A third elongated hollow member has an open end detachably engaging the opposite end of the second member. A brush having parallel bristles with powder applying tips is disposed in the third member with the tips disposed adjacent the second member.

Abstract: A ball-point pen has an elongate telescopic body which includes a front holder portion and a rear holder portion fitted on the front holder portion to be movable between a compressed position and a stretched position. A ball-point pen refill is disposed in the front holder portion and has a refill tip protruding from one end of the front holder portion. A concealing sleeve is disposed in one end of the front holder portion to be slidable along the ball-point pen refill. When the rear holder portion is moved to the compressed position, the sleeve is moved to conceal the refill tip, and when the rear holder portion is moved to the stretched position, the sleeve is moved to expose the refill tip. When the rear holder portion is moved to the compressed position, the rear holder portion is held in the position by a holding mechanism.

Abstract: An improvement in a ballpoint pen having an ink cartridge with a writing nib slidably mounted in the body of the pen and translatable between a resting position wherein the nib is retracted within the body of the pen and a writing position wherein the nib is disposed outside of the pen body, the ink cartridge being provided in the vicinity of the nib with at least one orifice for supplying the ink cartridge with air, the improvement including a chamber sealed from the ambient atmosphere in both the resting and writing positions, the orifice being disposed within the chamber, and an interruptable sealing mechanism for establishing communication between the chamber and the ambient atmosphere whenever the ink cartridge is translated between the resting and writing positions.
