  • Patent number: 6913835
Abstract: In a Y bar for forming coupling elements, an opening angle of a pair of right and left leg parts is narrower than that of the ordinary ones. Plural bent portions, which are bent inward, are formed successively in an extending direction of the leg parts in a range from a crotch part toward pawl parts at front ends of the leg parts. The gap between the pawl parts are narrowed gradually from proximal ends to front ends thereof. Bulging portions are provided on outer side surfaces of the crotch part. Thus, the stabilization of the posture of a metallic coupling element, which is obtained by cutting the Y bar, at the time of mounting, strength of the coupling element and stabilization of the mounting posture of the coupling element to the fastener tape can be improved.

  • Patent number: 6881494
Abstract: A process for forming an initial section or like component featuring a hollow interior to a final shape by high internal pressure in the sealed hollow interior using a medium that can flow. In order to shape-form the initial section featuring at least one corner region—preferably at least two corner regions—the wall sections adjacent to the corner region are preshaped in a curved manner—as viewed in cross-section—counter to the direction of applied pressure, and subsequently re-shaped by applying the high internal pressure of the medium that can flow, displacing the corner region in the direction in which the pressure is applied. To that end a section with hollow space delimited by section walls is employed in which two section walls define each corner region of the section cross-section, whereby at least one of the section walls at the corner region features a region that is curved in cross-section.

Abstract: A customized prosthesis, or instrument, for medical/dental applications is provided which replicates the desired bone-graft, tooth, or tool, being replaced. The dimensions of the prosthesis, or instrument, are determined by mathematically interpolating key-points that characterize a specific part. A computer controlled machine then cuts the desired part out of a pre-fabricated blank, directly at the site of operation. Methods of the invention relate to selecting the type of part being replaced, identifying and measuring the coordinates of key-points for that part, and initializing the automated machining process. Also, special supporting devices that include pre-fabricated features common between certain parts, are used in order to facilitate the machining process. The identification of key-points is done by comparing a schematic drawing of the type of part being replaced to the actual part. A grid is then used to measure the coordinates for those key-points.

Abstract: Copper can be pattern etched at acceptable rates and with selectivity over adjacent materials using an etch process which utilizes a solely physical process which we have termed “enhanced physical bombardment”. Enhanced physical bombardment requires an increase in ion density and/or an increase in ion energy of ionized species which strike the substrate surface. To assist in the removal of excited copper atoms from the surface being etched, the power to the ion generation source and/or the substrate offset bias source may be pulsed. In addition, when the bombarding ions are supplied from a remote source, the supply of these ions may be pulsed. Further, thermal phoresis may be used by maintaining a substrate temperature which is higher than the temperature of a surface in the etch chamber.

  • Patent number: 6416879
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide an Fe-based amorphous alloy thin strip capable of realizing an excellent soft magnetic property for use in alternating current applications while keeping a high magnetic flux density even in a composition range with a high Fe content, and an Fe-based amorphous alloy thin strip with which a core having an excellent soft magnetic property can be manufactured, even if there occurs a temperature difference among different portions of the core during annealing. The present invention is an Fe-based amorphous alloy thin strip having a high magnetic flux density, consisting of the main component elements of Fe, Si, B, C, and P and unavoidable impurities, characterized by having: a composition, in atomic %, of 82<Fe≦90, 2≦Si<4, 5<B≦16, 0.02≦C≦4, and 0.2≦P≦12; Bs of 1.74 T or more after annealing; B80 exceeding 1.5 T; and a low core loss of 0.12 W/kg or less.

  • Patent number: 6413650
Abstract: A method of repairing cracks, imperfections, and the like in a cast article. A frusto-conical aperture is created in the article in the location of the crack or imperfection. A mating tapered plug is prepared such that the tapered plug can fit into the aperture so that the sloped side walls of the tapered plug evenly and unilaterally rest on frusto-conical sides of the aperture. The tapered plug is disposed into the aperture, and bonding material is applied between the surfaces of the tapered plug and the aperture, before or after insertion of the tapered plug into the aperture. The article is thereafter heated such that the bonding material joins the surfaces of the tapered plug and the aperture. The outer end of the tapered plug thereafter is polished so that such outer end is approximately level with the article's outer side in a refinement of the invention, the plug member may be pushed into the aperture such that a controlled interference fit is produced.

  • Patent number: 6374493
Abstract: A two-piece tire rim is prepared from a molded, one-piece wheel casting which is generally cup-shaped in configuration. The casting, which is open at one end and closed at its opposite end, has an inner annular recess formed coaxially in the inner surface of its closed end, and has formed coaxially in its outer peripheral surface an external annular recess radially spaced from, and in axial registry with an internal annular recess. The casting is separated into two separate sections by cutting through the casting in a circular path extending from the external annular recess to the internal annular recess, thereby producing a generally annular shaped inner rim section, and a generally disc-shaped outer rim section. The two rim sections are then machined to final form, and are secured together to form the desired two-piece tire rim.
