  • Patent number: 9094882
Abstract: A network sends to a user equipment UE downlink signaling indicating at least one frequency which is subject to special handling. In response the UE measures and reports neighbor cells operating on any of that/those frequencies without regard to a threshold signal strength of a serving cell which is configured for reporting neighbor cells. In more specific examples, if the neighbor cells operating on any of that/those frequencies is considered a first set of neighbor cells, then the network also sends a second set of neighbor cells in other downlink signaling. Measuring and reporting on the first set of neighbor cells is less frequent than for the second set of neighbor cells, when measurements of the second set is required. Measuring and reporting on the second set is dependent on measured signal strength of a serving cell being greater than the configured threshold signal strength of the serving cell.

Further, the RAN may then select a respective transmission rate in the coverage area for one or more control-channel messages based at least in part on a determined ingress level and/or at least in part on a determined egress level. The RAN may then broadcast each control-channel message at that message's respective selected transmission rate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing an effect of user interference on other users in an uplink of a radio access network using interference suppression. A user, for example, the user experiencing the highest interference, is selected from a plurality of users using the radio access cell. A perceived Rise over Thermal value for the user after interference suppression is predicted in the event that scheduling grants to an interfering user in the radio access network are altered. On the basis of the prediction, scheduling grants to the interfering user are altered, thereby reducing the interference for the selected user.

Abstract: A mobile device mobility state is included in device reporting to a radio access network for mobility event and load balancing purposes. Respective load conditions and respective coverage areas of a first set of devices of a first network and a second set of devices of a second network are analyzed. In addition, a mobility state of a mobile device, a first signal strength associated with the first set of devices, and a second signal strength associated with the second set of devices are also analyzed. The mobility state is a function of a movement pattern of the mobile device and a speed at which the mobile device is being moved. Network traffic of the mobile device is routed to a set of network devices selected from the first set of devices and the second set of devices, as a result of the analysis.

Abstract: A system monitors calls for a service provider. A number of simultaneous communications of a given technology type is monitored for either inbound communications and/or outbound communications associated with at least one service provider. A determination is made if the number of simultaneous communications from the service provider is in excess of a adjustable but set number of simultaneous communications of a given technology type that are permissible. A predetermined action is taken if the number of simultaneous calls or text messages (e.g., SMS, IM, email) is in excess of the set limit, e.g., the call may be terminated or other action taken. Both voice communications and/or non-voice communications (such as SMS, IM, Email, or MMS) can be monitored and throttled.

  • Patent number: 9008607
Abstract: In a two-way radio frequency (RF) communications system having a plurality of subscriber units (SUs) and a supporting infrastructure including a wireless core network, a service request is received indicating one of a device, application, and transport link that will be removed from service. One or more SUs out of the plurality of SUs are identified that will be impacted by the removal from service. A determination is then made of whether any one of the SUs is currently involved in an incident response. For each SU determined to be currently involved in an incident response, it is determined whether the respective incident response is of a non-interruptible incident response type. Responsive to determining that a SU is currently involved in a non-interruptible incident response, a notification is caused to appear at a network management console or a dispatch console, and the service request is at least temporarily suspended.
