Abstract: The invention relates to a device for controlling the contact pressure of a transmission element of a continuously variable transmission, especially the traction element of a flexible drive for motor vehicles. The inventive device is provided with at least two levers as the transmission elements that provide the contact pressure depending on torque and ratio. Said levers are pivoted to the driving transmission elements and to the driven transmission elements and act upon an axially displaceable transmission element that indirectly or directly exerts the contact pressure via at least one rolling element each. The lever length effective to exert the contact pressure can be varied in accordance with the selected transmission ratio.

The belt transmission includes a drive end (7), an output end (8) and a primary valve (15) for adjusting the transmission ratio. The primary valve (15) is driven by the control signal (I). The control circuit includes means for generating the control signal (I) in dependence upon operating parameters of the vehicle transmitted to the control circuit. It is suggested that the control signal (I) is generated in dependence upon a value (y) for a desired speed of the transmission ratio change or from a quantity derived therefrom. The value (y) for the desired speed of the transmission ratio change is determined from the operating parameters transmitted to the control circuit.

The variable speed transmission can include a first pulley that has a first and second face that are movable relative to each other by activation of the actuator mechanism. When the first and second faces of the first pulley are located in a first position, a belt located on the first pulley remains motionless. The first and second faces can be moved by the actuator mechanism into a second position where the first and second plates engage the belt with enough frictional force to cause the belt to start moving about the first pulley. The first and second faces of the first pulley can also be moved between the second position and a third position such that the space between the faces becomes smaller.

Abstract: A belt type transmission improves the durability of a support portion of a driven shaft by reducing a load acting on a driven shaft, and improves the durability of the belt and reduces noise by suppressing vibration of a driven pulley. The belt type transmission includes a driven pulley having a fixed pulley piece and a movable pulley piece fitted to a driven shaft. The fixed pulley piece is rotatably supported, respectively, on the driven shaft and a bearing holder, being a constructional element of a transmission case. The bearing holder has a size overlapping only the driven pulley, and is coupled to a left case, which is a constructional element of the transmission case, in the vicinity of the driven pulley. As a result, the rigidity for supporting the fixed pulley piece on the driven side can be increased, thereby enabling suppression of vibration by the driven pulley.

Abstract: A belt type infinite variable-speed drive using a ball screw is proposed which is compact and noise-free. The nut of the ball screw mechanism is fixed to a casing and the threaded shaft is rotatably coupled to a movable pulley member through a ball bearing so that ball circulating portions on the nut will not rotate while the movable pulley member is movable axially. Also, the ball circulating portions, which are low in the load bearing capacity, are oriented in such a direction that load hardly acts on the ball screw mechanism. This makes it possible to compactly and rationally design a belt type infinite variable-speed drive and to suppress noise due to vibration of the balls in the ball circulating portions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a friction clutch having a pair of clutch members opposite to each other in a radial direction with a plurality of rollers held between them, an angle of a turning axis of each roller relative to the rotation axis of a clutch member is made more than 10° and less than 20°, and in the meantime, the angle of the turning axis of each roller relative to the plane including the rotation axis of the clutch member is made more than 25° and less than 90°, so that a stable frictional force may be generated at all times. In this case, when a load in an axial direction is added to the clutch member, each roller generates sliding friction while turning, and therefore, a wear is extremely smaller than that of a structure of bringing the respective fellow clutch plates into surface contact with each other like a multiple disk clutch.
