Abstract: A continuously variable transmission ratio device with optimized system efficiency by maximizing power flows through the primary power flow paths. The device is constructed from more than one fixed gear ratio device and controlled via a variator that is connected between the fixed gear ratio devices. The construction and operation of the continuously variable transmission ratio device is such that it provides a wide range of speed ratios between connected input and output devices and optimized system efficiency subject to constraints on the power flow through the variator. This continuously variable transmission ratio device can be used effectively in energy generation applications where optimized system efficiency entails coupling input and output devices with varying speed ratios for optimal component efficiency.

Abstract: The invention relates to a power-dividing gear train assembly for motor vehicles, having a driven differential that outputs to two output shafts via compensating elements, wherein the output torque at the output shafts is changeable by using a superimposing gear train, which is formed by epicyclic gear trains and is drivingly connected indirectly or directly with the output shafts, and a drive motor coupled thereto, and wherein the transmission ratio of the superimposing gear train is set such that the drive motor is still when the output shafts are rotating synchronously. For achieving a more precise and quicker-reacting redistribution of the drive torques in a structurally-advantageous construction of the superimposing gear train and the drive motor, it is proposed that at least one epicyclic gear train (Uz, Uz2, U1, U2), which reduces torque and interacts with the differential (U), is connected upstream to the superimposing gear train (26).

The elastically deformable partitioning device can therefore adjust its shape to take up any change in the amount of hydrostatic transmitting fluid in the first region due to temperature changes of the fluid and facilitates the regulation in depth of lubricant held by the second region. Thereby an initially low level of lubricant in the second region lessens the adverse effect of power-retarding drag losses, especially during cold weather winter operation, and a rising level of lubricant ensures good lubrication when temperatures are elevated and viscosity is low.
