Abstract: An underlayment material has a fiber mat partially infused and/or coated with asphalt and coated with silicone coating. A selvedge edge, may be coated or uncoated. The back of the underlayment has a self-adhesive coating, which is protected before use by a siliconized release film. The upper surface of the underlayment is coated with silicone composition providing waterproofing and radiation control. When unsaturated, the selvedge edge of fibrous material establishes a reinforced bond with an overlying sheet. When saturated with asphalt, the bond at the selvedge edge between adjacent sheets is between the asphalt layer of the selvedge edge and the adhesive on the bottom of the adjacent sheet.

Abstract: A moisture vapor and oxygen transmission resistant flexible film has a polymeric base layer and a barrier layer of discrete particles of a first organic polymer dispersed throughout a matrix of a second organic polymer. Preferably, the first and second polymers are water insoluble and water soluble, respectively. The barrier layer is formed by depositing onto the base layer a coating composition of finely divided insoluble organic polymer particles suspended in an aqueous solution of the water soluble organic polymer, a crosslinking agent and surfactant. The coating composition is heated to crosslink the barrier layer polymers and evaporate solvent to provide a barrier film suitable for packaging applications. Optionally, the film can be metalized to increase barrier properties.
Abstract: A method of recycling scrap ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam involves foaming and crosslinking a blend containing virgin EVA resin and scrap EVA foam, as well as a crosslinking agent and blowing agent for the EVA resin. Abstract: The present disclosure provides a hydrophobic and oleophobic coating composition, which comprises the following components based on weight percentage: 0.1-15% of a fluorosiloxane, 1-30% of a polyacrylic resin, 0.1-15% of a silane coupler, 33-98% of an organic solvent, and 0.05-15% of an acid. By combining the polyacrylic resin and the fluorosiloxane which exhibits hydrophobic property, the present composition not only provides good hydrophobic property but also ensures durable hydrophobic property of the coating with the help of good adhesion of polyacrylic resin. The coating composition can form hard coating which has high glossiness and high transparency under relatively low temperatures and has a contact angle of 115-120°.

Abstract: The present invention includes a process for producing treated filler that includes (a) treating a slurry that includes untreated filler where the untreated filler has not been previously dried, with a treating composition that includes a treating agent, thereby forming a treated filler slurry, and (b) drying the treated filler slurry to produce treated filler. The treating agent can include a polymer having (i) at least one first group that interacts with the untreated filler and (ii) at least one second group that interacts with a rubber matrix into which the treated filler is incorporated. Abstract: Various processes and methods are disclosed for incorporating polyvinyl alcohol additives into products. In one embodiment, polyvinyl alcohol particles are dissolved in a solvent without the use of external heat to form a polyvinyl alcohol solution for incorporation into a product. In an alternative embodiment, polyvinyl alcohol particles are directly incorporated into a starch-based adhesive composition. Through the processes of the present disclosure, solid polyvinyl alcohol particles can be delivered directly to a manufacturing facility where the product that incorporates the polyvinyl alcohol additive is being made or formulated. In this manner, since the polyvinyl alcohol particles are not predissolved, the costs associated with shipping and transporting the polyvinyl alcohol product are greatly reduced.
Abstract: There are provided a sealing composition for a hard disk drive (HDD) motor and a HDD motor fabricated using the same. The sealing composition includes: 45 to 65 parts by weight of urethane methacrylate; 35 to 50 parts by weight of methacrylate; and 2 to 4 parts by weight of acrylic acid. A sealing composition having a new composition is used as a sealing material of a flexible printed circuit (FPC) adhering part of the HDD motor, whereby a haze phenomenon due to air leak and outgas at the FPC adhering part may be improved and reliability of a HDD motor may be enhanced due to a reduction in generation of the outgas of the adhering part.

A body of the weatherstrip has regions of high hardness that include soybean oil as an ingredient in the rubber formulation. Preferably, the soybean oil is approximately 1-25 weight % of the rubber formulation in the high hardness regions. The body has a Shore A durometer on the order of 80-95. Abstract: Thermoplastic elastomer compositions, in particular derived from one or more styrenic block copolymers, a plurality of biorenewable materials, preferably a softener and one or more synergistic additives such as a polar polymer; a synergistic block copolymer such as a relatively high molecular weight styrenic block copolymer; and/or filler. In one preferred embodiment, the styrenic block copolymer comprises a controlled distribution copolymer block including a conjugated diene and a mono alkenyl arene. Numerous desirable articles can be formed from the compositions. Processes for preparing the compositions and articles are disclosed.

Abstract: A film-forming composition including a coalescent aid comprising fatty acid esters of ethylene glycol and/or propylene glycol having the formula R1COO[(EO)x(PO)y]zH wherein R1CO is a linear saturated aliphatic acyl group, or a combination thereof, having from about 6 to about 22 carbon atoms, EO is —CH2CH2O—, PO is —CH2CH(CH3)O— or —CH(CH3)CH2O— or a combination thereof, where the acyl radical is bonded to a carbon atom of the EO or PO radical, and x=0 to about 5, y=about 0 to about 5, the sum of x and y is equal or greater than 0.5, z=1 to about 5, and (x+y)z is less than or equal to 6. It is to be understood that x, y, and z are average values for the composition.
Abstract: A composition capable of phase separation contains an epoxy resin and an impact modifier formed from at least one dimer fatty acid and/or dimer fatty diol. The composition is suitable for use as an adhesive, particularly in microelectronics.

Abstract: An object of the invention is to develop fibers which include an olefin polymer and are suitable to form a nonwoven fabric, and to develop such nonwoven fabrics. The invention provides a fiber including an olefin polymer composition including 100 parts by weight of an olefin polymer and 0.1 to 30 parts by weight of an acid-form anionic surfactant, the acid-form anionic surfactant having been melt kneaded in the fiber.
Abstract: A two-part curable liquid silicone rubber composition comprises a first liquid composition and a second liquid composition. The first and second liquid compositions are stored separately and yield, upon mixing, a silicone rubber forming composition. The silicone rubber composition comprises: (A) an alkenyl group-containing organopolysiloxane comprising (A-1) an organopolysiloxane having only a silicon-bonded alkenyl group at each molecular terminal and (A-2) an organopolysiloxane having from 1 to 4 silicon-bonded alkenyl groups in side molecular chains and containing not greater than 2.0 wt. % of alkenyl groups; (B) a calcium carbonate powder; (C) a hydrosilylation reaction catalyst; and (D) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms.
