Abstract: Nanolatexes comprising functional monomers and methods for making nanolatexes. Compositions comprising between about 3:97 and 90:10 (w/w) nanolatex particles to conventional latex particles. Because of the particle size differences between the conventional and nanolatexes, the nanolatexes may distribute themselves advantageously amongst the conventional latexes during coalescence, resulting in films having unexpected properties. In particular, when the average particle size of the conventional latex is about six times larger than the average particle size of the nanolatex, a composition comprising a ratio of 1 conventional latex particle for every 25 nanolatex particles results in unexpectedly strong (large Young's modulus) and smooth (high specular gloss) films.

Abstract: Aqueous ink jet ink compositions can be used for ink jet printing colored or invisible images on receiver elements. These compositions contain a polymeric agent comprising core-shell polymeric particles. The core of the particles comprises a hydrophobic polymer having an acid number less than 10. The shell of the particles comprises a hydrophilic polymer having an acid number of at least 70. The weight ratio of the core to the shell is at least 50:50 and up to and including 90:10. Such compositions can be used in various ink jet printing systems including drop on demand and continuous ink jet printing systems.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel antireflective coating compositions and their use in image processing. The compositions self-segregate to form hydrophobic surfaces of the novel antireflective coating compositions, the composition being situated between a reflective substrate and a photoresist coating. Such compositions are particularly useful in the fabrication of semiconductor devices by photolithographic techniques. The present invention also related to self-segregating polymers useful in image processing and processes of their use.

  • Patent number: 8846800
Abstract: The present invention relates to reinforced polyamide molding materials which can be prepared from a polyamide blend and, for example, by compounding with cut fibers or continuous filaments on twin-screw extruders and have mechanical properties which are usually not compatible with one another, namely a combination of exceptionally high rigidity and strength and at the same time good toughness. Furthermore, a high heat distortion temperature (HDT) is achieved according to the invention. The thermoplastic polyamide molding materials according to the invention are suitable for the production of moldings or other semifinished products or finished articles, which can be produced, for example, by extrusion, injection molding, direct methods or direct compounding, in which the compounded polyamide molding material is processed directly by injection molding, or other deformation techniques.
