Abstract: A wound dressing is made of multiple layers and includes a collection chamber that is in fluid communication with a drainage channel. When applied over a wound, the wound dressing provides protection for the wound while allowing air and fluids to evacuate from the wound through the collection chamber and out through the drainage channel. The wound dressing can include a valve that restricts air and fluids from entering the wound, which is beneficial for treating pneumothorax.

Abstract: A wound dressing, a method of manufacturing a wound dressing, and in particular to a material for use as and in a wound dressing. A wound dressing can comprise a material movable between an initial conformation and an expanded conformation resulting from applying an extensive force to the material, such that removal of the extensive force can cause a contraction of the material toward a center of a wound. Abstract: A pad of elastomeric material having a softness of no more than about durometer 30 Shore 00. The pad may carry adhesive for adhering the pad to a surface, either directly or indirectly through an envelope which surrounds the pad and carries the adhesive. Such a pad exhibits hemostatic and leak prevention properties against needle puncture holes in the skin or the wall of a hollow medical device. Particularly, hemostasis may be prevented with low pressure application of the pad to the skin. The pad may be previously applied to the skin of the patient or a wall of a medical device such as tubing or a solution bag, and the needle may then penetrate both the pad and the skin or medical device wall, to make a resealable puncture with leakage reduction and hemostasis when the needle is withdrawn.
Abstract: The invention relates to a thin film dressing having a release liner which is able to support the dressing during application. The resilience or stiffness of the release liner is higher than the resilience or stiffness of the dressing so as to enable the control of the dressing during application. The invention further relates to a method of application of the thin film dressing where a minor part of the dressing initially is applied to the skin afterwards the dressing is folded backwards so the release liner faces upwards. Finally, the remaining part of the dressing is applied by pushing the release liner forwards in a rolling motion thereby rolling the dressing onto the skin. This dressing assembly allows the dressing to be applied by using only one hand.
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a wound care article for extraction and control of wound fluids, comprising at least one first fluid-absorbing structure (1; 10; 36), which is surrounded by a liquid-permeable, first enclosure (2), and a liquid-permeable, second enclosure (3) comprising two enclosing surfaces (13.1, 13.2). The wound care article is thus characterized in that the first enclosure (2) is covered or supported on at least one of its flat sides (4.1, 4.2) by at least one fluid-absorbing material layer (6.1, 6.2; 6.3), which is arranged (FIG. 1a) between the first enclosure (2) and one of the enclosing surfaces (13.1, 13.2) of the second enclosure (3).
Abstract: Devices, kits and methods described herein may be for wound healing, including the treatment, amelioration, or prevention of scars and/or keloids by applying and/or maintaining a pre-determined strain in an elastic skin treatment device that is then affixed to the skin surface using skin adhesives to transfer a generally planar force from the bandage to the skin surface. Applicators are used to apply and/or maintain the strains, and some of the applicators are further configured to provide at least some mechanical advantage to the user when exerting loads onto the skin treatment device.
