  • Patent number: 9028452
Abstract: A safety needle pack has a safe needle device contained within a housing 10, for use with a syringe 20. The device has a needle hub 16 supporting a needle 17 and a sleeve 22 is slidably mounted on the hub for movement between an initial position to an intermediate position where the tip region 31 of the needle 17 projects from the sleeve 22 and a protecting position. Following use of the safe needle device, the sleeve 22 is moved under the action of a spring 24,29,30 to the protecting position, a locking mechanism 29,40 then restraining the sleeve in that position. The rotational connection of a syringe 20 to the needle hub 16 turns the safe needle device within its housing 10, this causing the sleeve 22 to move rearwardly with respect to the housing from its initial position to its intermediate position so as to be ready for performing a medical procedure.

Abstract: An injection device has a main drive module which can be screwed into the back of a syringe housing to prepare the injector ready for use. The drive module has a firing button and a drive plunger released for forward movement by pressing the firing button. The syringe housing slideably receives a syringe holder whose forward movement is initially prevented by internally directed barbs on a cylindrical latching sleeve. The latching sleeve is acted upon by a release ring on the drive module such that as the drive module is screwed onto the syringe housing, the release ring splays the cylindrical shell to release the syringe carrier for forward movement. The barbs also act as a latch to capture the syringe carrier in its rearward position when the drive module is unscrewed from the syringe housing, which returns the barbs to their initial position before the syringe holder returns to its initial position.

  • Publication number: 20150112273
Abstract: In an elongated casing, an active agent container connected to an injection needle can be shifted axially by a spring force. Auto-injectors which are sold or distributed filled and with the springs tensed have to be provided with a needle protecting cap to ensure the sterility of the injection needle. When such a needle protecting cap is removed as preparation for using the auto-injector, a tensile force can be exerted on the active agent container. Therefore, the active agent container comprising the injection needle must be prevented from being undesirably pulled forwards. At least one latching tongue prevents the active agent container from being prematurely shifted with respect to the casing, by abutting a flange arranged on a sliding sleeve which accommodates the active agent container. When the auto-injector is placed onto a person's skin, a needle protecting tube is shifted into the casing, forcing the latching tongue away from the flange and, thus, freeing the travel path for needle movement.

Abstract: A medicament delivery device is presented having a housing configured to receive a medicament container having a delivery member and a shield, a protective cap, and wherein the protective cap comprises connecting means for connecting to the shield of the medicament container such that removal of the protective cap from the housing causes removal of the shield from the medicament container. The delivery device is characterised in that a protective cap assembly has a first disconnecting means configured to interact with corresponding second disconnecting means of the housing and of the protective cap such that activation of the first disconnecting means of the protective cap assembly causes the displacement of the protective cap relative to the housing.

Abstract: The present invention provides various systems, a kit, and a method for accessing, sampling within, and visualization of areas within the mediastinal cavity for assisting a surgeon in performing a mediastinoscopy procedure. The access system includes one or more preferably toroidal balloons that can be expanded to dilate and protect the inner walls of a bodily conduit. Instruments pass through hollow spaces within the expanded toroidal balloons. The proximally positioned balloons are expanded first and the unexpanded balloons to be positioned distally are passed through them and subsequently expanded. The sampling system includes an instrument with a rounded head having two or more jaws and a slit therein at the distal end of an elongated tubular body. The visualization system includes a 360° camera that can be positioned from proximal to distal a target site and can also do a U-turn about its axis of extension.

  • Patent number: 8945049
