Piston Moved By Screw Or Rack Patents (Class 604/224)
  • Patent number: 12102805
Abstract: A medication injection pen comprises a dose set knob rotatable with respect to a housing to set a desired injection dose. The dose set knob comprises at least one internal thread. A leadscrew includes a thread element for advancing in a first direction via a corresponding thread engagement. A driver is rotationally fixed to the leadscrew and is rotatable in a first direction to rotate and advance the leadscrew in the first direction. The setback member is rotationally fixed to the driver. The dose stop member is rotationally coupled to the setback member and is axially movable relative to the dose set knob when the dose set knob is rotated relative to the setback member. Axial movement of the dose stop member limits the user from setting a dose that is greater than an injectable volume of medication remaining in a cartridge.

Abstract: A needling system, for use in areas where thin hollow needles are used to inject or aspirate fluids and gases, is provided and comprises a thin, rigid tube body needle that is open on both ends and throughout the length with one sharp end. The needle body and hub are designed such that the needle has a ball end that fits within a socket of the hub forming a seal and allowing the needle to be oriented non-colinearly and non-parallel to the central axis of the hub. Needle orientation relative to the hub can be limited from a conical volume to a planar or multi planar angular orientations. The needle so configured allows the user to circumvent an obstacle that otherwise inhibit direct linear access to a point-of-interest by providing a device that can fit around or between obstructions providing optimal direct path towards the desired therapy delivery point.

Abstract: The drive mechanism for a drug delivery device comprises a piston rod, which is displaced in a distal direction for a delivery of a dose and in a proximal direction for a reset, and a resilient member, which acts on the piston rod during a reset and tends to restrict the movement of the piston rod in the proximal direction. The resilient member may be a biasing member provided for an automatic reset, a compression spring entering the piston rod or a torsion spring provided to generate a rotation. The drug delivery device is provided with such a drive mechanism.

Abstract: The present invention provides a disposable syringe and a push rod for use in a disposable syringe. The push rod comprises a proximal end, a distal end and an axis extending through the proximal end and the distal end. The distal end of the push rod is provided with a snap-fitting mechanism and a stop flange located at a proximal side of the snap-fitting mechanism. The stop flange comprises a main body portion formed about an axis of the push rod and a plurality of finger-like portions extending from the main body portion in a direction away from the axis of the push rod. According to the present invention, a smaller push force continues to be applied to the push rod upon completion of the injection, thereby achieving an additional stroke needed when the distal end of the push rod snap-fits with the needle seat and meanwhile lessening the patient's pains.
