Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to the automated testing of a system that includes software or hardware components. In some embodiments, a testing framework generates a set of test cases for a system under test using a grammar. Each test case may perform an action, such as provide an input to the system under test, and result in an output from the system under test. The inputs and outputs are then compared to the expected results to determine whether the system under test is performing correctly. The data can then be interpreted in the grammar system or used as input to a fault isolation engine to determine anomalies in the system under test. Based on identified faults, one or more mitigation techniques may be implemented in an automated fashion.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a device for process for predicting gloss of a coating resulting from a wet layer of a low gloss coating composition, such as automotive OEM or refinish paint. The device includes measuring reflectance of the layer of the coating composition applied over a test substrate and then allowing the layer to dry and/or cure into a coating. Thereafter, its gloss is measured with a gloss meter. The device is repeated with varying amounts of one or flatting agents added to the composition and the reflectance vs. gloss is plotted on a graph and by using a curve fitting equation a gloss prediction curve is obtained. By measuring the reflectance of a wet layer of a target low gloss coating composition the gloss of a coating that would result from such a layer is then predicted by using the gloss prediction curve. The device is most useful during the manufacture of coating compositions, such as automotive OEM and refinishes paints.

Abstract: Provided are a system and method for identifying planned markers while drilling a borehole. In one example, the method includes obtaining a plan containing planned markers that each corresponds to a baseline marker from an existing well. Each of the baseline markers corresponds to a waveform from a log file obtained from the existing well and is associated with a waveform representation of the corresponding waveform. Each of the planned markers is associated with an estimated true vertical depth (TVD) value. A second log file corresponding to the borehole is obtained that contains waveforms representing formation information detected within the borehole. The second log file is scanned for a planned marker based on the estimated TVD value and the waveform representation of the baseline marker corresponding to the planned marker. At least one match may be identified and reported for the planned marker.

Abstract: Systems and methods for cognitive alarm management in a power grid are described. In one embodiment, sensor measurements are transformed to determine the state of a power grid. Given current state information relating to the power grid, various analyses of the alarms may be conducted to produce various rankings of the alarms (e.g., by severity, graph analyses, etc.). In an embodiment, using power flow analysis, an optimal ranking is identified from the rankings in which a causal alarm is prioritized for resolution. Given the resolution of the causal alarm, remaining alarms (either all or a sub-set) may be resolved without further action. Thus, an embodiment provides an appropriate ranking of alarm conditions in a power grid such that the optimal resolution of alarms may be achieved. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.

Abstract: At least one parameter of a signal is determined, wherein the signal is a sinusoidal signal including noise, wherein the parameter includes at least one of a frequency of the signal, and an angle of a phase of the signal. The frequency of the signal is determined iteratively based on a linear relationship among the frequency of the signal, samples of the noise, and samples of the signal using a statistical correlation among the samples of the noise. During a current iteration the statistical correlation is updated based on the frequency of the signal determined during a previous iteration, and the samples of the signal are updated with values of the signal during a current period of time.

Abstract: There is disclosed an NMR signal processing method for accurately estimating the intensities of p peaks of interest in an NMR spectrum by the use of a mathematical model that represents a time-domain, free induction decay (FID) signal obtained by an NMR measurement as a sum of q signal components. First, q parameters (each being a combination of a pole and a complex intensity) defining q signal components are estimated for each value of the estimation order q of the mathematical model while varying the value of the estimation order q (S34). At each value of the estimation order q, p parameters are selected from the q parameters in accordance with selection criteria (S42, S46). The selected p parameters are evaluated (S48). An optimal value of the estimation order is determined based on the evaluation values produced at the various values of the estimation order q, and p parameters corresponding to the optimal value of the estimation order is identified.
