Publication number: 20110314990Abstract: A glass cutter is provided which can form, using a wheel, a uniform crack in glass even when a projection or an earlier-formed scribe line is present on the glass. When the wheel is moved on the glass, a fracture layer is formed causing a rib mark to be formed below the fracture layer and a crack to be formed below the rib mark. To cut the glass, the crack is required to be formed uniformly. Applying a force to resist the rotating force of the wheel makes it possible to form a uniform crack even when a projection is present on the glass. This improves glass cutting yield.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2011Publication date: December 29, 2011Inventors: Susumu SASAKI, Katsunori Kuwaki, Makoto Tatemura, Hiroyuki Tani, Hitoshi Azuma, Tomio Yaguchi, Tatsuo Hamamoto, Hideaki Ishige, Shuji Iwasaki, Katsuyuu Takahashi

Publication number: 20110208256Abstract: A system and method for repairing an area of defective tissue reduces the removal of healthy tissue at the margins of the defect. During excision of diseased or damaged tissue, the system tracks the movement and function of a tissue resection tool within a monitored surgical space. This movement is continuously recorded to create a three-dimensional set of data points representative of the excised volume of tissue. This data set is then communicated to a custom implant forming device which creates a custom implant sized to fit the void created by the excision. The system and method of the present disclosure allows a surgeon to exercise intraoperative control over the specific shape, volume and geometry of the excised area. Moreover, the surgeon may utilize a “freehand” resection method to excise only that tissue deemed to be diseased and/or damaged, because the custom-formed implant will accommodate an irregularly-shaped resection volume.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2011Publication date: August 25, 2011Applicant: ZIMMER, INC.Inventor: Joel Zuhars

The film tubing is advanced incrementally through a ring gear and a bore in a platform on which the ring gear is rotatably mounted. A number of pinions with attached cutting blades are rotatably mounted to the platform in positions to mesh with the ring gear. One of the pinions is driven to rotate a single revolution when the film tubing has been advanced. The driven pinion causes the additional pinions to rotate through rotation of the ring gear, causing the blades to cut the film tubing.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2005Date of Patent: March 18, 2008Assignee: Axon LLCInventor: Kuo-Raid Grant Chen

Publication number: 20070266841Abstract: The present invention provides a generally circular cutting blade suitable for use in conventional circular saws or equivalent power tools such as table saws and the like. The cutting blade of the present invention utilizes a pair of angled or concave portions or segments (as viewed from one side of the blade). A first portion is located at the radially outward periphery of the blade and a second portion is disposed radially inwardly therefrom. These first and second angled or concave portions are connected by a relatively flat blade portion that permits the radially outward portion to flex or deflect slightly from side to side as the blade is rotated through a work piece.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2007Publication date: November 22, 2007Inventors: Barbara Cotten Robinson, Jeffrey S. Publication number: 20070204738Abstract: A perforation over perforation die with a multi-level blade on an engraved rotary tool, on thin plate tooling applied to a magnetic cylinder or on a removable perforation blade die. The single die has a multi-level blade that creates dual cuts in the face sheet and liner of the label. The blade comprises a plurality of cutting projections separated by a plurality of depressions; a plurality of first depressions have a first height and a cutting surface at their base and a plurality of second depressions have a second height. The first and second depressions are interspersed at regular intervals.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2006Publication date: September 6, 2007Inventor: Andrew P. Frey

Patent number: 7258044Abstract: A rotating cutting apparatus comprising a cutting blade holder with at least one hole on the outside diameter of the cutting blade holder into which cutting blades are inserted and bonded to the cutting blade holder. The cutting blade holder encloses a center hole, so that the rotating cutting apparatus can be mounted to a drive shaft of machinery or secured to a cup that can be mounted to the drive shaft of machinery and driven by the machinery. The cutting blade holder can be made of a less expensive material, with only the cutting blade being made of higher-grade materials that maintains its cutting edge well. Additionally, in some arrangements of the present invention, the cutting blade may be sharpened on two sides so that the rotating cutting apparatus can be used for longer periods of time.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2003Date of Patent: August 21, 2007Assignee: Good Earth Tool CompanyInventor: Edward E. Publication number: 20070163412Abstract: A movable machining element, for example a wall saw, can have one or more characteristics including a reversible driving head, a driving head removable from a carriage and having a quick release or quick lock mechanism, a driving head that is removable from a carriage without the use of threaded fasteners or having to unthread a holding element for removing the driving head from the carriage, a driving head with parallel, concentric or coaxial travel elements and tool driving elements, a tool driving assembly including a travel gear accessible from more than one direction, a component in the machining element having an oriented fiber or other composite incorporated in or as part of the component, an eccentric lateral adjustment assembly, or a drive shaft having a non-circular driving surface, for example a hexagonal drive shaft. In a wall saw, a blade and blade flange assembly are easily assembled on the saw or removed from the saw.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2006Publication date: July 19, 2007Inventors: Anthony Baratta, Andreas Jonsson

Patent number: 7156007Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for crushing a hydrous polymer jelly, comprising two rolls (11,12) located axially parallel and rotating in opposite directions between which a nip (13) for the passage of the polymer gel (10) is formed. In order to achieve a more uniform and cheaper size reduction of polymer gels, the present invention proposes to form one roll as a cutting roll (11) which is provided with at least one axially extending cross cutting element (15) having a cutting edge (17) and with a radially extending longitudinal cutting element (14) provided with a cutting edge (18) which runs around it, and to form the other roll as a back-up roll (12).Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1996Date of Patent: January 2, 2007Assignee: Stockhausen GmbHInventors: Detlef Albin, Jürgen Schulte, Uwe Günther
