Abstract: A seal assembly is disclosed that can be used to seal a bearing case in a turbine. The seal assembly has an annular seal plate seated within a groove defined in the bearing case and radially-offset from the turbine shaft. Abstract: An assembly, for example in a gas turbine engine, includes a rotatable component supported by a bearing in a support structure. A sealing arrangement includes a non-rotating sealing ring which makes sealing contact with sealing features on the rotatable component. The non-rotating sealing ring is radially displaceable with respect to the support structure by means of ribs which engage axially facing support faces of the support structure. The non-rotating sealing ring is radially located by an outer, non-rotating, race of the bearing, by means of a locating surface on a locating body of the non-rotating sealing ring. As a result of this arrangement, the running clearance at the sealing arrangement can be maintained, despite radial displacement of the rotatable component with respect to the support structure, and despite thermal and mechanical deflections of the support structure.

Abstract: A seal assembly (50, 60) for a gas turbine engine for controlling air flow between a diffuser (48) and rotor disks comprising first and second annular flange ends (52, 54) and an annular seal mid-section (56) between and operatively connected to the flange ends (52, 54). The first and second annular flange ends (52, 54) abut respective outer frame members (46) of the diffuser, whereby a fluid flow path is formed between the seal assembly (50, 60) and the rotor disks (42). The first and second end flanges (52, 54) are composed of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion that is substantially the same as a coefficient of thermal expansion of the material of the outer frame members (46). In addition, the material of the seal mid-section (56) has a coefficient of thermal expansion that is different than that of the materials of the annular flange ends (52, 54) and outer frame members (46).

Abstract: A seal cartridge and a rotating nozzle assembly utilizing the seal cartridge are disclosed. The main seal member in the nozzle assembly is mounted as part of the seal cartridge. The seal cartridge is also easily removable from the rotating nozzle assembly without requiring the separate removal of the main seal member from the seal cartridge. This configuration allows a user to quickly install a new or rebuilt seal during an operation while minimizing or eliminating the necessity to manipulate small parts in the field.

Abstract: Due to increasingly strict requirements and regulations, it is becoming more and more important for piston compressors to reduce the amount of leakage of operating medium through the seal of the piston rod. Conventional seals comprising packing rings and/or packing ring combinations always have a certain amount of leakage, both during operation and when at standstill, which is why they are not usable for certain applications, or the complexity involved in such a seal increases considerably. A further problem involving the seals of piston rods relates to transverse movements by piston rods during which the sealing action of the seal must be maintained. Proposed is, therefore, a sealing arrangement according to the principle of a sealing medium barrier providing that the sealing elements 8, 9 are arranged in radial direction at a distance relative to the radial end of the recess 10 that receives the sealing elements 8, 9.

The rotary collar, stationary collar, mounting bracket and mounting collar are mounted around the sleeve. The first O-ring is mounted between the sleeve and the rotary collar. The second O-ring is mounted between the mounting bracket and the stationary collar. The locking pin is mounted securely between the mounting bracket and the stationary collar. The O-rings provide multi-sealing functions. The locking pin prevents relative rotation between the mounting bracket and stationary collar.

Abstract: [Problem] To provide a method for producing a rotary shaft seal that exhibits improved eccentricity-conforming properties, in which each of the initial characteristics, i.e., a torque reduction (reduced friction) and sealing properties attributed to reduced oil leakage (oil pump rate when the seal member slides), can be improved, and degradation of these characteristics can be inhibited even after friction and abrasion; and the rotary shaft seal. [Means for Solving the Problem] A method for producing a rotary shaft seal, including blending a peroxide crosslinking agent into a fluororubber polymer component including 95 to 40% by weight of a fluororubber terpolymer obtained by copolymerization with a perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether and 5 to 60% by weight of a liquid fluororubber polymer, to prepare a fluororubber composition, followed by crosslinking and molding the composition; and the rotary shaft seal.

Abstract: A seal assembly and method of forming a seal assembly provides a seal body having reduced strain during use, thereby increasing service life. The seal body may be formed within certain parameters, such as ranges of height-to-thickness and offset-to-height ratios, which have been found to reduce strain. Additionally or alternatively, the seal body may be modified from an initial configuration to a pre-strained configuration by axially displacing an inner section of the seal with respect to an outer section of the seal, which also reduces strain.
