Abstract: Launching mechanism for fine stabilized subcalibre projectile fired from a gun barrel having a smooth or rifled bore.The mechanism comprises a sabot equipped with fork joints in which are articulated a set of jaws having means for articulation in rotation, bearing means in the gun barrel, means for holding the projectile constituted by bosses and spacers, locking means for the jaws and optionally aerodynamic means for unfolding the jaws.The invention is applicable more particularly to projectiles for piercing armour plating.
Abstract: A servo-assisted power steering means is proposed in which one of the two track rod joints of the steered wheels is embodied as a linear force transducer. An electric or electronic switch is disposed in the tie rod or in the steering knuckle assembly and furnishes switching signals to an electric or electronic control device. These signals are then processed and supplied to a servo apparatus in order to reinforce the movement of the tie rod initiated by the driver via the steering wheel. The control device is part of a brake anti-lock apparatus, wherein the data pertaining to velocity which are required there are also used in the power steering in such a manner that the auxiliary force is switched on only in a low vehicle velocity range, so as to serve, for example, as an aid in parking of the motor vehicle.
Abstract: A fuel injection system is proposed which is triggerable in such a way that in the presence of control signals, in particular those characterizing engine overrunning, the fuel injection is interrupted. The fuel injection system includes metering valves to each of which one regulating valve is assigned, the valves each having a movable valve element which can be subjected on the one hand to the fuel pressure downstream of the respective metering valve and a spring and on the other hand to the pressure in a control pressure line. In the fuel supply line a pressure-reduction valve is provided upstream of the metering valve. During engine overrunning, the fuel pressure in the control pressure line is controllable by means of an electromagnetic valve in such a way that the fuel pressure in the control pressure line increases and the regulating valves close as a result of which the fuel injection is interrupted.
Abstract: An ultrasonic transmitter is disposed on one wall inside the air induction tube of an internal combustion engine and an ultrasonic receiver is disposed on the opposite wall, downstream of the transmitter. A second transmitter-receiver pair is similarly located, but with the positions of transmitter and receiver reversed. Thus, the signals from one transmitter travel generally with the air flow, whereas the signals from the second transmitter travel generally against the air flow. Since the travel time of the signals depends on the velocity of the flowing air, the frequencies of signals from the two receivers are different and this difference is used to determine the air velocity and, hence, the air flow rate.

Abstract: An apparatus for supplementary fuel metering in the event of acceleration in an internal combustion engine, the apparatus developing signals by processing means indicative of a level of the increased quantity controllable in response to or in accordance with an operational status, operating characteristics and/or time for controlling an injection valve particularly in internal combustion engines which are driven in the lean range, the apparatus makes the increased quantity of fuel available for use to be dependent in the event of acceleration on the degree of leaning during the period before the acceleration process and dependent on the dimension of the desired acceleration itself. The apparatus for supplementary fuel metering includes a control apparatus for increased fuel quantities which is driven, for instance, in accordance with the output signals of an oxygen sensor and of a differentiating stage for the throttle valve angle.
Abstract: A barrel extension for a weapon having a barrel internally threaded at its forward end together with various associated devices including a hand grip and a wrench which includes a tubular member having a smooth bore and an externally threaded end portion threadedly engageable with the threaded forward end portion of the weapon barrel with the barrel extension bore aligned with the barrel bore and including a hollow nightstick having an interior forming a storage cavity for the barrel extension, the nightstick having an internally threaded open end portion for threaded engagement with a threaded portion on a closure member to close the storage cavity in order to transport the barrel extension in a concealed manner.
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for self-igniting internal combustion engines is proposed in which a metering piston operates synchronously with the engine and a distributor operates synchronously with a pump piston. During the intake stroke of the pump piston the distributor delivers a metered injection quantity to a work chamber associated with the pump piston, and during the compression stroke of the pump piston the metered injection quantity is distributed through injection lines to the engine injection nozzles. The metering piston is disposed upstream of the distributor so that high pressure conditions do not deleteriously effect the fuel metering. The stroke of the metering piston is adjusted electrically and controlled by a microprocessor unit to which engine operating characteristics are supplied.
Abstract: A shutoff apparatus for distributor injection pumps in internal combustion engines is proposed. The apparatus may also be used as a means of overspeed protection, and under the effect of an electromagnetic pushing magnet it opens the high-pressure chamber of the injection pump in order to shut off the engine. The opening of the high-pressure chamber is effected without the use of a valve subjected to the injection pressure, by means of the axial displacement of a pressure-equalized annular cylinder, which causes a relief bore to come into coincidence with the high-pressure chamber. The displacement of the annular cylinder is effected under the pressing action of an electromagnet. The area of the high-pressure chamber located opposite the distributor piston is sealed off by a slidable plug, which is pre-stressed by spring force and is centered via the annular cylinder by the distributor piston.
Abstract: A fuel supply unit is proposed, in particular an assembly comprising a pumping element and an electromotor to drive it housed together in a common housing, which is secured in an upright position in the interior of a fuel container in such a manner that the pumping element is disposed near the bottom of the fuel container to enable aspiration of fuel from the fuel container until it is as nearly empty as possible. The pumping element has a first intake area oriented toward the bottom of the fuel container and a second intake area remote from the bottom of the fuel container, the second intake area being closable by a closure member movably disposed on the fuel supply unit whenever the fuel level in the fuel container drops below a predetermined level, so that fuel is then aspirated only via the first intake area. The closure member is actuatable by means of a floater body.
Abstract: A fuel injection pump is proposed in which, at relatively low rpm, there is an outflow of a partial quantity of fuel for the purpose of prolonging the injection time. This outflow begins only after the injection has already begun.
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel injection system having a pump/nozzle for which the fuel is metered by one apparatus and the injection onset is determined by a second apparatus. In accordance with the invention, these apparatuses each operate with a distributor, both distributors being combined into a single structural unit. Because of this combination, structural possibilities are created which, both functionally and in terms of manufacturing cost, represent substantial improvements in the field of injection systems.
Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines is proposed in which a valve needle receives an auxiliary needle in a blind bore opening toward the side on which injection occurs, and in which two injection locations each having at least one injection opening are controllable in accordance with the stroke, and in which the valve needle controls the passage of fuel from a pressure chamber of the injection nozzle selectively to the injection areas. The auxiliary needle is urged in the opening direction of the valve needle by a spring and is displaced in the flow direction at a first, lower fuel pressure, whereby it hydraulically separates the two injection areas. At a second, higher pressure the auxiliary needle is carried along as a drag member by the valve needle so as to reestablish communication between the two injection areas.
Abstract: A durable and relatively inexpensive readily portable and easily adjusted apparatus for cleaning, grooming, and otherwise treating dogs and other animals of similar size, comprises a combination of simple and inexpensive elements which may be readily and easily utilized; and the operation of which is such as to eliminate or very materially reduce excitement or traumatization of the animal; while at the same time requiring but a minimum of effort and inconvenience on the part of the operator and without any leakage of water onto the surrounding environment or the attire of the operator.
Abstract: An air flow rate measuring device is proposed for an internal combustion engine. The air flow rate measuring device includes a baffle valve disposed in the air intake tube and a signal generating circuit coupled therewith. A damping member is associated with the signal generating circuit. This damping member serves to damp the so-called over-swings in the output signal caused by the sluggishness of the baffle valve and thereby avoid incorrect fuel metering. Two embodiments of damping members are disclosed, both comprising resistor-capacitor combinations together with a diode, in which the stored capacitor charge assumes the function of damping the output signal of the signal generating circuit.

Abstract: A sealing assembly for oppositely disposed flanges having a sealing frame interposed therebetween, is proposed. The sealing frame has oppositely disposed grooves into each of which are affixed metal sealing elements and the oppositely disposed flanges have grooves into which are positioned O-rings that engage the metal sealing elements in said sealing frame. Further, an annular channel is disposed in each of the flanges whereby a vacuum may be established between the O-rings.

Abstract: A fuel injection pump having a hydraulic governor is proposed wherein as a result of the use of a piston adjustable under rpm-dependent pressure counter to the action of governor springs, a very precise control is attainable with only small forces being brought to bear and with adjustment paths which are easily adaptable to given conditions.
