Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle assembly for use in an externally ignited internal combustion engine of the air/fuel mixture-compressing type and with fuel injection into a tube through which air is suctioned into the engine, comprising a fuel injection nozzle and heat-insulating means surrounding a part of the nozzle is described. The heat-insulating means surround especially the nozzle part to be inserted into a bore in the wall of the air intake tube. Preferably, the heat-insulating means is a sleeve member made of heat-insulating rubber. The assembly is such that the fuel injection nozzle can be readily removed from the air intake tube. Moreover, both the fuel injection nozzle and the sleeve member can be assembled as a unit.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is proposed for cleaning ampules or similar containers which includes the steps of rinsing, spraying, and drying and includes an ultrasonic generator for pre-treating the ampules prior to the aforementioned steps.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine is equipped with an air line for admitting supplementary air to the induction manifold or the exhaust manifold in order to compensate for an intentional air deficiency, so as to make the mixture stoichiometric. The air line is throttled by a pneumatically activated throttle valve which is subject to at least two control pressures, one of these being the atmosphere or a constant pressure and the other being, for example, the induction tube vacuum. The termini of the two lines which admit these control pressures are so disposed in the valve as to be jointly openable and closable, in opposite phase, by an electromagnetically controlled valve-closing leaf-spring. The electromagnet is energized by a current of variable frequency, the frequency being dependent on the exhaust gas composition as monitored by an oxygen sensor.

Abstract: Associated with the fuel controller of a supercharged diesel engine is a mechanism which limits the maximum fuel quantity in all operational states as defined by engine speed and air flow rate. This mechanism includes a three dimensional cam, displaced in rotation by a first transducer responsive to rpm or air flow rate and further displaced axially by a second transducer responsive to the other of these variables. A cam follower attached to the main fuel control rod of the controller makes contact with and follows the surface of the cam, thereby limiting the maximum fuel quantity admitted to the engine. Special provisions permit an enlarged starting fuel quantity and also permit corrections on the basis of further parameters, such as temperature. Several embodiments are presented.

Abstract: A heat exchanger of the regenerative type comprising a rotor constructed of corrugated strip layers providing transverse channels extending therethrough. The device is arranged to have separate gas streams directed through different parts of the rotor so that on rotation of the rotor the storage mass effects the exchange of sensible heat between the streams.
Abstract: A fuel injection system receives valve control pulses, the length of which determines the fuel quantity delivered to the engine. A first counter receives a pulse train whose frequency depends on the air flow rate and this pulse train is admitted for a period defined by the engine speed. The content of the counter is then counted out at a frequency which is synthesized from operational parameters of the engine, including, in particular, the temperature. For this purpose, there is generated a temperature-dependent frequency which is fed to a multiplier circuit which combines this frequency with data derived from a memory to generate an output signal which is further processed to provide the fuel injection pulses for the engine.
Abstract: A supplementary air valve controlling a supplementary air quantity during the warm-up phase of an internal combustion engine. The supplementary valve is arranged in a lateral channel which bypasses the throttle valve and has a flat vane provided with a flow-through aperture; the vane is pivotable about a shaft eccentrically situated with respect to the flow-through aperture by means of a bimetallic spring provided with an electric heating coil energized through the engine ignition switch and which rotates the vane to uncover the cross-sectional areas of two spaced-apart, coaxially arranged air supply tubes which together form a part of the lateral channel and the vane has at least one further flow-through aperture for opening the cross-sectional area of a pressure control line which when closed, permits the induction tube pressure downstream of the throttle valve to prevail in the air control line, and when opened, the induction tube pressure upstream of the throttle valve prevails in the air control line.
Abstract: A single folded carton or box is removed from a magazine and is held by suction cups or the like at one side while being moved into contact with a fixed member which exerts an opening force on the folded box. When thus erected, the box is placed onto a moving conveyor belt for further use. The removal, opening and placement on the conveyor are executed in a substantially single sweeping motion of a transport arm which is moved by a system of articulated levers. After placement of the box on the conveyor, the levers retract the arm and return it to its starting position.
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic brake booster for a vehicle brake apparatus which is provided with a pressurizing apparatus which has a pump and a reservoir (accumulator). When the reservoir pressure fails, a switchover piston which is subject to the reservoir pressure can disengage a stop for the push rod of the control valve.The push rod is supported on the stop when the pressure supply to the reservoir is intact and after the control valve switches over in the direction of brake activation.In this manner, a stop for the brake pedal, which activates the push rod is formed which is subject solely to the resiliency of a travel-limiting spring. The stop operates when reservoir pressure is available to effect a longer pedal stroke. When the reservoir pressure fails, it is automatically disengaged.
Abstract: A structure for mounting a work implement on a tractor in which each of the right and left coupling means may be attached to the work implement in two alternative transversely reversed positions. This arrangement provides positional adjustment of the work implement in the transverse direction.
Abstract: An apparatus for performing at least two measurements of characteristics in suspension of particles, including two chambers separated by a measuring orifice through which the suspension of particles flows in response to a pressure difference between the two chambers. A glass plate is disposed a short distance beyond the measuring orifice in the direction of flow and at right angles to the direction of flow, and diverts the flow at substantially right angles to its flow direction through the measuring orifice. An optical measuring device is provided and situated coaxially with the flow through the measuring orifice and downstream of the glass plate. The optical measuring device produces an irradiation of the particles in suspension and the fluorescence thereby induced is measured. Another measurement is achieved by measuring a voltage pulse utilizing a pair of electrodes, one in each of the two chambers. The voltage pulse is varied as a function of the particle size passing the measuring orifice.

Abstract: In a fuel injection system, the combination of an air measuring valve, biasing structure and an air suction tube of an internal combustion engine. The suction tube defines an air flow cross section and the air measuring valve provides a controlled flow of air through the flow cross section, with the air measuring valve being mounted eccentrically within the suction tube against a force produced by the biasing structure to effect the noted control. Both the air measuring valve and the suction tube have cooperating surfaces which effect a closing of the flow cross section by the biasing structure when no air is flowing; and during air flow a gradual opening at one end of the air measuring valve by an impedance induced force as a function of the pressure difference prevailing on both sides of the air measuring valve and a further opening at the other end of air measuring valve as the air flow increases through the opening at the first mentioned end.
Abstract: A mechanism for rotating a cannister during the filling of the cannister with textile material from a carding machine or the like which includes a turntable rotatably mounted on a frame for supporting a cannister having a movable bottom including a plurality of flexible metal bands arranged on the frame for reciprocating movement between a retracted and an extended position with upper end portions in angularly disposed relationship, the upper ends of the bands secured together for underlying engagement with the cannister bottom and the adjacent side edges of the bands provided with releasable interlocking means engageable during the movement of the upper portions of the bands into the extended position to form a pillar together with drive means for moving the bands between the retracted and extended positions to permit downward movement of the cannister bottom during the filling of the cannister with textile material.

Abstract: There is provided a wheel lock-up prevention device for compressed air operated brakes of a motor vehicle which includes a common control of the pressure in the brakecylinders of a given wheel axle. The control is accomplished by means of multi-position main valves which include magnetic pre-control valves with identical control magnets and with armatures having integral closure bodies. Furthermore, the valve bodies of the multi-position valves are substantially identical at least on their pressure side. The use of such simple and identical valves provides a modular-like construction making possible a selective 2-point or 3-point operation as well as a single-duct or a multi-duct embodiment of the wheel lock-up prevention device. Thus, during a functional test at the beginning of a trip, a dangerous and hence undesired release of the brakes when parked on an incline is prevented by means of the actuation of all of the magnets.
Abstract: A mechanism for rotating a cannister during the filling of the cannister with textile material from a carding machine or the like which includes a turntable mounted on a rotatably driven housing, the turntable being arranged to support a cannister having a movable bottom, a spiral spring having a lower end positioned in the housing with a support member on its upper end in underlying engagement with the cannister bottom for urging the bottom into an upper position together with a power driven winch disposed in the housing having a cable connected to the support member for lowering the cannister bottom downwardly against the force of the spring during the cannister filling operation.
