  • Patent number: 7610271
Abstract: A method and apparatus for searching an electronically stored table of information including a plurality of table entries and facilitating high speed searching of a table to provide a longest matching entry. The table searching method uses at least one memory unit having a table of information including a plurality of data entries. The table of information has a plurality of search keys associated with the plurality of data entries and the plurality of search keys form a tree structure based on a prefix length for each of the search keys. The plurality of search keys are expanded such that each of the plurality of search keys has two lowest level search keys associated therewith that cover a lowest level of the tree structure. A binary search of the lowest level search keys is performed based on a search value to determine a longest prefix match. A data entry of the plurality of data entries is output based on said longest prefix match.

  • Patent number: 7610325
Abstract: Presented herein are system(s), method(s), and apparatus for detecting end of slice groups in a video bitstream. In one embodiment, there is presented a circuit for extracting a data structure from one or more data words. The circuit comprises a multiplexer, a bit pointer, a first logic circuit, and a comparator. The multiplexer provides one or more bits from the one or more data words. The bit pointer points to the bits following the provided one or more bits in the one or more data words. The first logic circuit examines at least portions of the data words for an end of data structure code, the at least portions comprising the one or more bits, and provides an indicator indicating the position of the end of data structure code. The comparator compares the indicator to where the bit pointer points.

Abstract: A multi-speed burst mode serializer/de-serializer (SerDes) is configurable and can operate in one of a plurality of operating modes. The plurality of operating modes correspond to the reception of signals from optical network units that operate at different nominal speeds. These various modes of operation can enable a single SerDes design to apply to a variety of speeds and network configurations (e.g., point-to-point or point-to-multipoint). In one example, the design can be initially configured for operation with a single ONT or a network of ONTs at a single speed, or can be dynamically configured during operation for use with a network of ONTs operating at different speeds.

  • Publication number: 20090265485
Abstract: Managing data traffic among three or more bus agents configured in a topological ring can include numbering each bus agent sequentially and injecting messages from the bus agents into the ring during cycles of bus agent activity, where the messages include a binary polarity value and a queue entry value. Messages are received from the ring into two or more receive buffers of a receiving bus agent. The value of the binary polarity value is changed after succeeding N cycles of bus ring activity, where N is the number of bus agents connected to the ring. The received messages are ordered for processing by the receiving bus agent based on at least in part on the polarity value of the messages and the queue entry value of the messages.

  • Patent number: 7606575
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for providing radio frequency communication of data collected by a multiplicity of mobile transceiver units to a base transceiver. The system comprises the base transceiver and the mobile transceiver units being selectively operable at limited and increased data rates. The mobile units respond to transmissions by the base transceiver, and have means to evaluate the feasibility of responding at the increased data rate. The base transceiver effects a communication link with one or more mobile units. The mobile units for which a communication link has not been established receives the transmissions of the mobile units with which a communication link has been established. The mobile units evaluate for consistent reception of transmissions to one or more transceiver units. The mobile units which consistently receive transmissions at the increased data rate respond at the increased data rate when communication is directed thereto.

  • Patent number: 7605854
Abstract: The present invention includes operational amplifier for an active pixel sensor that detects optical energy and generates an analog output that is proportional to the optical energy. The active pixel sensor operates in a number of different modes including: signal integration mode, the reset integration mode, column reset mode, and column signal readout mode. Each mode causes the operational amplifier to see a different output load. Accordingly, the operational amplifier includes a variable feedback circuit to provide compensation that provides sufficient amplifier stability for each operating mode of the active pixel sensor. For instance, the operational amplifier includes a bank of feedback capacitors, one or more of which are selected based on the operating mode to provide sufficient phase margin for stability, but also considering gain and bandwidth requirements of the operating mode.

  • Patent number: 7606157
Abstract: Methods and Systems for transmitting data originating according to a first communications standard over a physical layer using a second communications standard are provided. A data stream is received from a physical transmission medium that uses particular first communications standard. Next, a data type identification (DTID) is appended to each byte in the data stream, thereby creating a technology independent data stream having a particular bit rate. This bit rate is then matched to a different bit rate that corresponds to a second communications standard. The technology independent data stream is then transmitted over a physical transmission medium that uses the second communications standard.

  • Patent number: 7605665
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed to substantially reduce phase noise introduced in fractional-N phase-locked loop (PLL) through feedback modulation. A fractional frequency divider is introduced in the feedback path of the PLL to generate a true fractional division factor with finite fractional steps to increase the resolution of the PLL by a factor equal to the inverse of the finite step size in the fractional frequency divider. Increasing the resolution of the PLL reduces phase noise. The fractional frequency divider uses the true fractional division factor to divide the frequency of a single output of a multi-phased voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) by the fractional division factor to match the frequency of the divided feedback signal to frequency a reference signal.

  • Patent number: 7606188
Abstract: Satellite communications are carried out using the Data Over Cable Interface Specification (DOCSIS). Satellite modems are notified of upstream channel congestion by inserting a congestion notification message in a medium access protocol (MAP) message for the upstream channel. Specifically, the congestion notification message is inserted in an unused field of the MAP message, such as the explicit congestion notification (ECN) field. The MAP message can also carry other characteristics of the upstream channel, including priority threshold, multicast access burst availability, and available bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 7605734
Abstract: Binary indications are converted to an analog representation with significant reduction in ringing at the transitions between successive binary indications and in the period during each binary indication. The binary indications are disposed in a row-and-column matrix to provide a thermometer code. Each stage of the converter includes a decoder and latch arranged so the decoder inputs settle before the latch is set by the clock pulses. The stages are implemented in complementary CMOS. Complementary transistors are biased so one transistor of the pair is driven to the rail while the other transistor of the pair floats. A dummy CMOS transistor is used to balance the number of transistors in the decoder paths.

  • Publication number: 20090257524
Abstract: A Multi-tone transmission system processes input data through a plurality of intermediate processing stages 12, 14, 16 and corresponding stages of intermediate data 18, 20. A symbol including a number of tones is obtained therefrom by an inverse Fourier transform 24 and stored in a buffer 158. The peak amplitude that the symbol would contain after the subsequent processing in the analogue front end 146 is modelled and compared to a threshold. If the modelled peak amplitude in the symbol exceeds the threshold, the symbol stored in buffer 158 is regenerated. The symbols stored in the buffer are output through analogue front end 146.
