Abstract: Layer transfer process for image production wherein predetermined areas of the surface of an image carrier (21) are prepared to accept a color layer, the image carrier (21) and a color carrier (22) of layer transfer material are brought into mutual contact under pressure, and the color carrier is removed from the image carrier, so that color remains on the predetermined areas of the image carrier. A high uniformity of colorant application can be achieved over the entire surface of the image carrier. The process is performed by an apparatus with at least one roll nip (31) formed by two hard rolls (11, 12), preferably with different diameters, in which the two rolls are mutually offset relative to the feed direction (30) of the image carrier (21).
Abstract: Partially stabilized cubic or tetragonal zirconia powder are provided which comprise aggregates of dense equiaxial primary particles, wherein said particles have an average diameter of less than about 150 nm and comprise zirconia and a homogeneously distributed stabilizer, as well as processes for their production employing flame combustion of homogeneous mixtures of ZrCl.sub.4 and stabilizer precursors.
Abstract: 2,2-Dihydrocarbyl-3-propiolactones are prepared by the thermolysis at 175.degree. C. to 350.degree. C. of low molecular weight (oligomeric) poly(3-hydroxy-2,2-dihydrocarbylpropionic acid) that contains carboxyl ends groups, in the presence of alkali metal, ammonium or phosphonium cations. The propiolactones may be polymerized to high molecular weight polymers.
Abstract: A C-MOS sense amplifier capable of detecting voltage differences between the signals applied to its inputs in correspondence with the clock signal transitions. The amplifier has a level converter, a sense circuit and a feedback block which are inactive in a first inactive phase of the clock signal, while in a second active phase, immediately after clock signal transition, the sense amplifier attains the operating point necessary to activate the level converter and the sense circuit. Hence a high positive feedback is started which switches the sense circuit. Finally, after the level transition of a delayed clock signal, the feedback signal generated by the feedback block reduces to zero the dissipation of the whole differential sense amplifier.

Abstract: A waveguide for second order nonlinear wavelength conversion comprising a thin film embedded in an optically passive waveguiding medium wherein the film is nonlinear optically active and has periodic modifications of the nonlinear optical properties in the propagation direction, and said film thickness is less than 50% of the smallest effective transverse dimension of the waveguide, and said film width is greater than or equal to the largest transverse dimension of the waveguide, said waveguide is preferably surrounded by cladding media having lower refractice indices than the waveguide.
Abstract: Blends of nylon 6,6, nylon 6 or nylon 6,6/6 copolymer which contain a randomly copolymerized cationic dye modifier are formed by melt blending such copolymer with a polyamide having 8 to 22 carbon atoms per amide link to form a block copolymer composition which is resistant to staining with acid dyes under ambient temperature and pH conditions.
