  • Patent number: 5152301
Abstract: A thermoplastic mouthguard has a U-shaped base with top and bottom sides and upward inner lingual and outer labial walls forming a channel for the upper jaw teeth having posterior and anterior portions. Occlusal posterior pads are on the bottom side of the base along the posterior portions of the guard to space apart the anterior teeth of the lower jaw from the anterior portion of the bottom side of the U-shaped base and to lessen pressure and possible impact forces exerted at the temporomandibular joint. Occlusal impact chambers are located within the occlusal posterior pads for shock dissipation and absorption. Anteriorly directed ridges are located along the bottom of the impact surfaces of the occlusal posterior pads for custom fitting of the mouthguard and tending to move the lower jaw anteriorly when a force impact is imposed upon the lower jaw. An anterior impact brace is located along the anterior portion of the outer labial wall.

  • Patent number: 5150739
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the on-demand, low tension feeding of a filling member for weft insertion in a loom without substantial twist. The filling member is supplied without substantial twist at an average rate equal to the process speed take-up rate of the loom. The supplied filling member is advanced into a filling member accumulator from which the filling member is withdrawn by the loom. As the filling member is advanced into the accumulator, it is formed into serpentine folds. The supplying of the filling member is controlled in response to the filling member being taken up by the loom and a sufficient amount of the filling member is caused to accumulate in the accumulator to meet the high demand for the filling member when the loom accelerates to process speed operation.

  • Patent number: 5151822
Abstract: A transform digital optical processing system generates a transform signal of an image. Fourier or other well-known transforms may be employed. The transform signal may be generated in one of two ways: optically or electronically. In optical generation a two dimensional object is generated by modulating a beam of coherent light with an image of the object. A transform image of the modulated coherent light beam is formed, using an optical transform element. The optical transform is then stored in a two dimensional buffer. The transform signal may also be generated electronically by storing a digital video image of an object and generating a Fourier or other transform of the digital video image using vector processing chips or other commercially available digital transform generating computers. This digitally generated information may be analyzed and classified through a neural network type processor.
