Patent number: 9637078Abstract: Embodiments include object restraint systems and methods of their operation. The system is contained in a vehicle with a passenger compartment, and includes sensor and processing subsystems, a vessel, a restraint mechanism, and an actuator. The sensor subsystem produces a sensor signal indicating a magnitude of a sensed condition, and the processing subsystem asserts an actuator signal when the sensor signal indicates that a triggering condition has occurred. The vessel is configured to hold one or more inanimate objects. For example, the vessel may include a cupholder, a lidded or open compartment, a cargo area, or another storage space that is distinct from the passenger compartment. The actuator receives the actuator signal and activates the restraint mechanism in response to assertion of the actuator signal. The restraint mechanism, when activated, is configured to retain the object(s) within the vessel and to restrict the object(s) from entering the passenger compartment.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2014Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: NXP USA, INC.Inventor: Kammie L. Patent number: 9638712Abstract: A MEMS device comprises a substrate, a proof mass spaced apart from a surface of the substrate, and an over-travel stop structure. The over-travel stop structure includes a lateral stop structure and a cap coupled to the lateral stop structure. The MEMS device is fabricated to include relatively small gap sections and relatively large gap regions separating the lateral stop structure from the proof mass. The larger gap regions are covered by the cap and the smaller gap sections are exposed from the gap. During fabrication, removal of particles from the smaller gap sections is facilitated by their exposure from the cap and removal of particles from the larger gap regions underlying the cap is facilitated by their larger size. The lateral stop structure may be cross-shaped to limit deflection of the proof mass along two in-plane axes. The cap limits deflection of the proof mass along an out-of-plane axis.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2015Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: NXP USA, Inc.Inventors: Jun Tang, Chad S. Patent number: 9639396Abstract: A data processing system (100) includes a main list (126) of tasks, main scheduling scheme, a starvation list (128) of tasks, and a secondary scheduling scheme. A method identifies tasks in the main list that are potentially-starving tasks and places the potentially-starving tasks in the starvation list. A starvation monitor (130) controls starvation of tasks in the system by determining when to use the secondary scheduling scheme to schedule, for execution on a CPU (132), a highest priority task in the starvation list prior to scheduling, pursuant to the main scheduling scheme, other tasks in the main list. The starvation monitor determines a number of times that a task in the main list is pre-empted, by other tasks in the main list, from being scheduled for execution on the CPU. A counter (131) is incremented each occasion that any task not in the starvation list is executed on the CPU.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2014Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: NXP USA, Inc.Inventors: Quyen Pho, William C. Patent number: 9641165Abstract: A duty cycle correction circuit has a delay line comprising a plurality of current-starved inverters coupled together in series. An input of a first current-starved inverter receives an input clock signal. A relatively weak inverter is coupled in parallel with each of the current-starved inverters. A low pass filter having an operational amplifier has a differential input coupled to the output of the delay line for receiving an output clock signal. A single-ended output of the operational amplifier is coupled to current source and current sink transistors of each of the current-starved inverters to control the amount of delay provided by the delay line. The low pass filter corrects the duty cycle of the input clock signal so that the output clock signal has a 50 percent duty cycle. The relatively weak parallel-connected inverters insure that no clock pulses are skipped if the current-starved inverters fail to transition.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2016Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: NXP USA, INC.Inventors: Venkataram Mooraka, Firas Abughazaleh, Roby Thomas
