Abstract: A method of operating a resonant power supply in standby mode is disclosed, in which the switching period of the power supply is longer than the resonance period. The power converter is operated in normal mode for a significant fraction of one resonance period. Efficient operation is maintained, despite the switching period being extended beyond the resonance period, by using resonance current to enable soft switching, where this is beneficial, and dumping the resonance current into the load where this is more beneficial. Control methodologies to regulate the output power are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100207792
Abstract: A sampling circuit for sampling a signal is disclosed. The sampling circuit comprises a plurality of sampling channels adapted to sample the signal in time-multiplexed fashion, each sampling channel comprising a respective track-and-hold circuit connected to a respective analogue to digital converter via a respective output switch. The output switch of each channel opens for a tracking time period when the track-and-hold circuit is in a tracking mode for sampling the signal, and closes for a holding time period when the track-and-hold circuit is in a holding mode for outputting the sampled signal. The holding time period comprises a settling time period that is at least as long as the tracking time period. The settling time period is used by the track-and-hold circuit to charge an input capacitance of the analogue to digital converter to a voltage according to the sampled signal.

  • Patent number: 7777649
Abstract: A hand held device for generating commands and transferring data between the hand-held device and a base device (including consumer electronic equipment). The hand-held device detects the motion of the device itself, interpreting the motion as a command, and executing or transferring the command. The motion of the device can include gestures made by the user while holding the device, such as the motion of throwing the hand-held device toward a base device. The commands generated by the user range from basic on/off commands to complex processes, such as the transfer of data. In one embodiment, the user can train the device to learn new motions associated with existing or new commands. The hand-held device analyzes the basic components of the motion to create a motion model such that the motion can be uniquely identified in the future.

  • Patent number: 7779229
Abstract: A processor arrangement having a strip structure for parallel data processing is configured so that local data from the individual processing units or strips is brought together in a rapid manner. Input data, intermediate data and/or output data from various processing units are linked together in an operation which is at least partially combinatory. The data linking operation is not clock controlled. The linking of the local data from various strips in this manner reduces delays in parallel data processing in the processor arrangement. The combinatory data linking operation can provide an overall data linking outcome within an individual clock cycle.

  • Publication number: 20100205317
Abstract: In digital mobile broadcast systems, data streams audio and video are sent independently. As this means that both streams may arrive out of sync, they need to be synchronised for reproduction upon reception. For this, the relation between timestamps of both streams should be known. For broadcast, this is difficult because the information is usually not directly available upon the first reception of broadcasted streams and it cannot be send upon playback request. Therefore, the invention proposes to reset counters for generating timestamps upon the start of transmission of the broadcast. The incremental rate of the timestamps can be send on beforehand, as this information usually remains constant over a longer period in time. The invention provides methods for transmission, reception and synchronisation.
