  • Publication number: 20140287239
Abstract: An integrated circuit chip attachment in a microstructure device is accomplished through the use of an adhesive-based material in which graphene flakes are incorporated. This results in superior thermal conductivity. The spatial orientation of the graphene flakes is controlled, for example by adhering polar molecules to the graphene flakes and exposing the flakes to an external force field, so that the graphene flakes have desired orientations under the integrated circuit chip, alongside of the integrated circuit chip and above the integrated circuit chip.

  • Publication number: 20140289363
Abstract: In an embodiment, information contents, such as, e.g., media contents arranged in pieces including blocks of bits, is distributed over a network including plural terminals at least one of which acts as a source of the pieces of information distributed. Various terminals in the network are configured to act as peer terminals with at least one first peer terminal sending the information to one or more second peer terminals. A set of blocks of a corresponding piece of information is received at the first peer terminal and the corresponding piece of information is reconstructed from the set of blocks received. The pieces of information distributed over the network are fountain encoded by XOR-ing the blocks in a piece, so that a received piece is reconstructable from a combination of a corresponding set of linearly independent XOR-ed blocks.

  • Publication number: 20140285472
Abstract: A sensor includes a linear array of sensitive photodetectors each forming part of an associated pixel circuit. The pixel circuits accumulate photo-generated charge from their photodetectors simultaneously but with different gains for different pixels. Each pixel circuit comprises an operational amplifier arranged to integrate a photocurrent received from the photodetector over a sampling interval that is substantially the same for all pixels. The gain of each pixel circuit is made variable over time by switching one or more capacitors in and out of the integrating circuit. In one embodiment a gain selection signal is written into each pixel circuit during a data read-out cycle. In another embodiment, the gain of each pixel varies automatically in response to data obtained from the pixel in a previous cycle. Several similar sensors are used to detect touch positions in a touch screen input device.

  • Publication number: 20140286467
Abstract: Interpolator and decimator apparatuses and methods are improved by the addition of an elastic storage element in the signal path. In one exemplary embodiment, the elastic element comprises a FIFO which advantageously allows short term variation in sample clocks to be absorbed, and also provides a feedback mechanism for controlling a delta-sigma modulated modulo-N counter based sample clock generator. The elastic element combined with a delta-sigma modulator and counter creates a noise-shaped frequency lock loop without additional components, resulting in a much simplified interpolator and decimator.

  • Publication number: 20140283605
Abstract: A z-axis micro-electro-mechanical detection structure, having a substrate defining a plane and a suspended mass carried by two anchorage elements. The suspended mass includes a translating mass, suspended over the substrate, mobile in a transverse direction to the plane and arranged between the anchorage elements and two tilting masses, each of which is supported by the anchorage elements through respective elastic anchorage elements so as to be able to rotate with respect to respective oscillation axes. The oscillation axes are parallel to each other to enable a translation movement of the translating mass. Fixed electrodes face at a distance the tilting masses or the translating mass so as to be able to detect displacement of the suspended mass as a result of external forces. Elastic supporting elements are arranged between the translating mass and the tilting masses to enable relative rotation between the translating mass and the tilting masses.

Abstract: A supervisor module manages multiple user selected applications. A first one of the multiple applications is launched in a first container. Allocation of a first process identifier by the first one of the multiple applications in the first container is detected. The first process identifier is unique within the first container. A first unique identifier is allocated to the first one of the multiple applications. The launch of a second one of the multiple applications is delayed but subsequently launched if the first unique identifier has been allocated to the first one of the multiple applications. A second unique identifier is allocated to the second one of the multiple applications. The first and second unique identifiers uniquely identify the respective first and second ones of the multiple applications within the supervisor module.

  • Publication number: 20140285258
Abstract: A Class-D amplifier includes a pre-amplifier having an input configured to receive an amplifier reference voltage signal which is ramped at start-up at a fast rate. An integrator has a first input configured to receive an input signal from the pre-amplifier and a second input configured to receive an integrator reference voltage signal which is ramped at start-up at a slower rate. A modulator has an input coupled to an output of the integrator. The modulator generates a pulse width modulated output signal. Operation of the Class-D amplifier is controlled at start-up by applying a slow ramped signal as the integrator reference voltage signal and a fast ramped signal as the amplifier reference voltage so that the pulse width modulated output signal exhibits an increasing change in duty cycle in response to an increasing voltage of the integrator reference voltage signal, and no “pop” is introduced at start-up.
