  • Publication number: 20120198214
Abstract: One embodiment sets forth a technique for N-way memory barrier operation coalescing. When a first memory barrier is received for a first thread group execution of subsequent memory operations for the first thread group are suspended until the first memory barrier is executed. Subsequent memory barriers for different thread groups may be coalesced with the first memory barrier to produce a coalesced memory barrier that represents memory barrier operations for multiple thread groups. When the coalesced memory barrier is being processed, execution of subsequent memory operations for the different thread groups is also suspended. However, memory operations for other thread groups that are not affected by the coalesced memory barrier may be executed.

  • Patent number: 8215068
Abstract: According to one embodiment, the energy dissipation of a structural element is increased by inserting one or more resisting elements into the structural element at any time during or after construction of the structural element. The continuous resisting elements are rigidly attached to the structural at one end and connected to the structural element by and through a damping material over at least a portion of its length. When a dynamic force is applied to the structural elements, such as may result from wind or earthquakes, there will be a strain in the structure, in a direction parallel with the longitudinal direction of the resisting elements. In this way, the forces and deformations within the structure will result in a relative motion between the structural element and resisting element, a substantial portion of which is ultimately transmitted by and through the damping material layer.

  • Publication number: 20120167723
Abstract: A reduced arc box end ratchet wrench or ratchet drive wrench utilizes a multiple pawl ratchet assembly comprised of a body having an insert cavity to enclose critical components of an insert that is secured within the ratchet assembly. The insert is set into the wrench body and includes a plurality of pivoting pawls. Each pawl comprises a lever arm with ratchet engaging teeth. The pawl arms are positioned relative to the ratchet wheel to create “pawl swing arcs” and “reduced ratcheting arcs” to alternately or successively engage a portion of the teeth of a ratchet wheel at all times. This configuration allows smaller degrees between ratchet teeth and a smaller wrench rotation that is otherwise required to apply torque.

  • Patent number: 8210462
Abstract: A winder for winding a web to produce a rolled product is provided. The winder includes a web transport apparatus that is used for conveying the web. Also included in one exemplary embodiment is a plurality of independent winding modules. The winding modules are independently positioned to independently engage the web as the web is conveyed by the web transport apparatus. The winding modules may be configured to wind the web to form a rolled product by center winding, surface winding, and combinations of center and surface winding. The winding modules are structurally and operationally independent of one another where if one module is disabled, another may still operate to produce the rolled product without shutting down the winder.

  • Publication number: 20120139709
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the invention, RFID network control devices (RNCDs) are provided wherein RFID traffic signals from any one of multiple RFID readers may be routed to any of the RFID antennas coupled to the RNCD. Each reader coupled directly or indirectly to the RNCD, either through its own action or the action of the external host controller managing the reader, may issue commands to the RNCD, over the same cable used to carry RFID traffic signals, and cause the RNCD to set its internal switch configuration such that a channel is established for RFID traffic signals between that reader and a particular RFID antenna coupled to the RNCD. This may include commands from the reader or external host controller which place other intervening RNCD units in a bypass state so as to establish the required communications channel with a minimum of signal strength loss.

  • Patent number: 8195982
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for managing testing functionalities. One such method includes receiving, from a test tool, data indicative of a user-created test script, being a data-bound test script in the present example. The data-bound test script is created for testing a target application, and is bound to a predetermined data set. This received data is then processed, thereby to define data indicative of an unbound test script. A user interface is provided for allowing a user to associate the unbound test script with one or more data sets selected from a repository of stored data sets. Responsive to a user command, data indicative of a new data-bound test scripts is defined based on the association of the unbound test script with the selected one or more data sets. This new defined data-bound test script is executable via the test tool. For example, instructions are provided to the test tool such that those scripts are executed for the testing of the target application.

  • Publication number: 20120114202
Abstract: Embodiments of an image registration system and method registering corresponding images of a deformable surface are generally described herein. In some embodiments, image features of the corresponding images are converted to point features, the point features from each corresponding image are sorted based on one or more attributes of the point features, and a plurality of three-point sets are generated for each image from a selected portion of the sorted point features. Each three-point set defines a triangle. Matching triangles may be identified from the corresponding images. The corresponding point features of the matching triangles represent corresponding image features providing for at least local image registration.

  • Patent number: 8146514
Abstract: A table has two end legs arranged in a parallel, laterally spaced apart relationship for support on a floor surface. Two side rails are arranged in a parallel, laterally spaced apart relationship, and are connected with upper portions of the end legs to retain them in an upright orientation, defining a self-supported table frame without intermediate bracing between the side rails, with a central, vertically extending widow. Top support members are connected with the side rails and protrude outwardly therefrom in a cantilevered fashion. A top member is supported on and connected with the table frame and the top support members, defining a plurality of workstations. A utility module configured to route utilities is positioned within the window of the frame, with opposite sides abuttingly supported on the side rails to removably mount the utility module on the frame and thereby accommodate different utility requirements at the workstations.
