  • Patent number: 6612473
Abstract: The present invention relates to dispensing cartons for sheet materials such as polymeric sheets, metallic foils, and other sheet materials, particularly those suitable for use in the containment and protection of various items including perishable materials. The present invention further relates to such cartons which permit end-loading of the roll of product into the carton during the manufacturing process. The present invention provides an asymmetrical carton for containing and dispensing a roll of sheet material. The carton has a longitudinal axis, and has both an erected condition and a flattened condition. The carton when erected forms a cylindrical structure having an asymmetrical polygonal cross-section formed from a plurality of substantially planar side panels. The carton has fold lines defined by the intersection of adjacent side panels, and is foldable into a flattened condition by folding the carton at two fold lines to form a substantially planar structure.

  • Patent number: 6589648
Abstract: A roll of material, e.g., thermoplastic ribbon comprises a hollow core made of a plastic strip of which the ends are mutually joined by overlapping, and the core's outer surface facing the material to be wound being of a nature opposing slippage of the material on it. The plastic strip includes an adhesive-coated foil of which the adhesive-fitted surface forms the outer core surface facing the material. The first winding layer facing the core bonds to this core and, as a result, the finished roll is made mechanically strong and this strength can be enhanced by an adhesive-coated plastic foil tautly enclosing the outside of the roll and fitted with a projecting, adhesive free or adhesive-neutralized tear-open tab.

Abstract: A dispenser for strip materials, e.g. hook and loop fastener material, which automatically finds formations in a continuous fastener strip during its dispensing and, at that point in the dispensing procedure, produces a resistance to the remaining supply, that enables parting of the lead unit from the remaining supply, thus dispensing a discrete unit. The dispenser has a receptacle to hold the supply of fastener strip material; it employs a retarding device to provide light drag against the motion of the strip as the leading strip unit moves from the dispenser in response to pull by a user. A detent downstream of the retarding device engages a corresponding formation in the strip material to resist movement of the remaining strip material, so that the strip ruptures along a line of weakness under a user's tension. • Patent number: 6182828
Abstract: A reel tape includes a base tape for reel winding, a chip mounting section on the base tape, on which a bare chip is to be mounted and an adhesive layer coated on the chip mounting section. The bare chip is provisionally bonded to the chip mounting section with the adhesive layer interposed therebetween such that the bare chip is detachable. Therefore, the bare chip can be detached from the tape for chip testing, for example, and mounted on the tape again after the testing. The reel tape further includes a protector, e.g. a bar, provided on the base tape and along the chip mounting section in a tape conveying direction. The protector prevents the bare chip from contacting an overlaying portion of the base tape when the base tape is wound on a reel.

  • Patent number: 6182327
Abstract: In a first aspect of the invention, there is provided an apparatus for storing and dispensing a vacuum hose of a central vacuum system. The apparatus comprises a base frame, a basket pivotally mounted on a thrust bearing affixed to the base frame, and a conduit rigidly held above the basket relative to the base frame and extending along the pivotal axis of the basket. When a vacuum hose is inserted downward inside the conduit and into the basket, the weight and resiliency of the hose causes the basket to rotate for coiling the hose therein without twisting it. The hose is thereby neatly stowable between uses. In another aspect, the base frame and the basket are installed beneath the floor of a house and the conduit extends upwardly into a wall cabinet above the main floor of the house and near a vacuum inlet socket of the central vacuum system.

  • Patent number: 6112936
Abstract: An envelope made of tubular net material is stretched around a glove dispensing box or the like and closed on each end. Positioned immediately adjacent an opening in the dispensing box is a sphincter closure in the net material. The sphincter closure is created by cutting a hole in the net material and weaving an elastic band in a circle around the hole. Closure of the netting on either end of the dispensing box is accomplished by stitching, safety pins, or other such closures. It is preferable that one end of the envelope be permanently closed with stitching or a tied cord or the like. It is also preferable that the second end be releasably closed with any of a number of well-known bag or netting closure devices.
