  • Patent number: 5379495
Abstract: A magnetic latch includes a first member having a protrusion and a second member engaging the protrusion to prevent the first member and the second member from sliding relatively to one another. The second member includes a first magnet to attract the first member and a first solid non-magnetic member located inside a cavity of the first magnet to enhance attraction between the first member and the second member. The second member can be provided with a backing plate to facilitate a magnetic flux path from the magnet to the magnet aperture. The second member can also include a second magnet to attract the first member and a second solid non-magnetic member located between the first magnet and the second magnet. A third solid non-magnetic member can be provided on the outer periphery of the magnets. This design provides a latch with stronger holding power.

  • Patent number: 4635325
Abstract: Described herein is a substrate fastener having resilient coupling members at the opposite ends of a strut member, characterized in that the coupling members are resiliently engageable in mounting holes of substrates to be fastened to each other, and at least one of the coupling members is connected to the strut member through a flexible hinge of a synthetic resin material. Accordingly, the fastener occupies only small areas on the substrates, permitting to mount electronic parts on the substrates in higher packaging density. The connected substrates can be freely turned into a horizontal or vertical position if desired.

  • Patent number: 4635326
Abstract: Described herein is a substrate fastener having a pair of inclined resilient coupling members at the opposite ends of a strut member, the coupling members being resiliently lockable in mounting holes provided in substrates to be fixed. A vertical substrate of a printed wiring board can be fixed in upright position on a horizontal printed wiring board easily and securely by the use of the fastener. Since the substrate fastener occupies only small areas on the substrates, it permits to improve the density of electronic parts which can be practically mounted on the printed wiring boards.

  • Patent number: 4531733
Abstract: A fastener includes a pad element having number of connecting prongs having two locking ridges disposed thereon. The top locking ridges, which are disposed closest to the tip of the prongs, are smaller than the lower locking ridges, thereby facilitating easy alignment of the unisex fasteners of a mating pad. Back prongs on the pad are used for connecting the pad to a surface of an article having holes for receiving the back prongs such that the connecting prongs are positioned to face upwardly from the surface. The fastener is adapted for use in yieldably or separably anchoring a baseball base in place on a playing field ground support attachment having like-constructed fastener prongs whereby injury to a runner sliding into the base will be minimized due to yielding under a relatively low force or separating under a relatively high force of the fastener prongs upon contact thereof.

  • Patent number: 4527312
Abstract: A stackable hinging printed circuit board support is provided, comprising an integral plastic molding. The support is provided with an intermediate notch and an adjacent wall section which is sufficiently thin as to permit flexing for pivoting of one printed circuit board away from another. The support has an upstanding circular segment pilot for fitting in a circular aperture of an overlying printed circuit board. The support has at its bottom a W prong structure dimensioned for insertion in a circular aperture of a printed circuit board so as to coact with the upstanding circular segment pilot of an underlying support to wedge the pilot in the aperture. The W prong of one support is received in a recess provided in the body of a subjacent support.

  • Patent number: 4434537
Abstract: A latching mechanism for latching the front plate of a circuit board module to the circuit board module rack effected by merely inserting the module in the rack. The mechanism includes a resilient tab having a prong with a tapered head. The prong mates with an aperture of a mount on the rack such that at full insertion of the module the head engages the mount through the aperture thus precluding withdrawal of the module from the rack. Depressing the resilient tab allows withdrawal of the prong from the mount through the aperture to unlatch the mechanism and permit withdrawal of the module from the rack.

  • Patent number: 4279062
Abstract: A snap shackle has a body formed on one side with an attachment such as a swivel eye and on the other side with a C-shaped arm having an outer end forming a pivot for a complementarily shaped pivotal arm whose free end in turn is engageable against the shackle body to form another eye. A latch constituted as a stirrup pivotal about an axis parallel to the pivot axis of the pivotal arm is mounted on the shackle body and has a bight that can engage in a holding position over the free end of the pivotal arm to hold it in a closed position. This arm can be springy in such a manner that it seeks the holding position, or can be biased by a spring into the holding position. A trip line attached to the stirrup can displace it into a freeing position in which it allows the pivotal arm to swing away from the body and open up the shackle.
