Brush Holders Or Rigging Patents (Class 310/239)
  • Patent number: 6842966
Abstract: An electric motor and method for reducing or eliminating end play. The motor comprises an adjustment member that cooperates with an end lamina member to facilitate reducing end play. The adjustment member is slidably mounted on an armature shaft and inside an aperture of a portion of the end lamina tube to reduce or eliminate end play. Thereafter, the adjustment member is permanently secured to the end lamina tube. In another illustrative embodiment, the movable bearing retainer sets endplay and also retains brushes in an open position prior to, for example, assembly of the motor.

  • Patent number: 6800982
Abstract: An electric motor provides a carbon contact member of a commutator from colliding with a brush holder. A projection is formed in the brush holder so that it projects toward an end face of a resin mold of an armature. An end face of this projection, which is opposed to the end face of the resin mold of the armature, is positioned in the axial direction so as to form a clearance between the contact members and the brush holder when the armature is moved toward the brush holder by an external force and the end face comes in contact with the end face. As a result, if shock is applied to the fuel pump and the armature moves toward the brush holder, the contact members of the commutator are prevented from colliding with the brush holder. It thereby becomes possible to prevent the carbon contact members from being damaged.

  • Patent number: 6777849
Abstract: In a rotary electric machine using a sintered oil-impregnated bearing, oil that oozes out from the sintered oil-impregnated bearing is prevented from attaching onto a brush. In a stay part providing a brush holder stay, there is formed a through hole into which the sintered oil-impregnated bearing is fitted. A pair of holder portions that each accommodate therein a brush are formed to diametrically face each other. A terminal-fixing portion is formed on one side of each holder portion. A prescribed gap exists between the one side position and the terminal-fixing portion. By closing the inner-radial end of the gap by an end wall, a first oil pool is formed. Thus, the first oil pool is structured as an oil pool on an oil path of any oozed oil flowing from the through hole toward the outer radial side of the holder portion to prevent the oil from entering the holder portion.

  • Patent number: 6768243
Abstract: A small-size motor has a case cover 11 formed with three voids, and electric elements such as chip capacitors are contained in the three voids. A first electric element is mechanically fixed between a pair of brush units in a first void and is electrically connected. The remaining two second and third electric elements are located on both sides of the first electric element and are pressed on a brush base in a motor shaft direction by a body earth terminal 14 in second and third voids, so that the body earth terminal 14 is fixed to the case cover 11 and the two electric elements are mechanically fixed and electrically connected. A sufficient space is secured in the motor case cover made of synthetic resin, so that three electric elements such as chip capacitors can be incorporated together with their wiring and support arrangement.
