Abstract: A rotary drum dryer is supported by magnetic non-contact bearings rather than by rollers or wheels which are normally used to support a rotary drum cylinder. A plurality of rare earth permanent magnets are positioned on the outside surface of the cylindrical dryer to form at least two external annular rings. One U-shaped semi-circular channel supported with a cradle have similar rare earth permanent magnets positioned at selected locations on the inside curvature thereof with the open end facing upward and disposed below in alignment with and spaced apart from each one of the at least two annular rings of magnets supporting the on the cylindrical dryer. Abstract: A process to upgrade heavy oil and convert the heavy oil into lower boiling hydrocarbon products is provided. The process employs a catalyst slurry comprising catalyst particles with an average particle size ranging from 1 to 20 microns. In the upgrade process, spent slurry catalyst in heavy oil is generated as an effluent stream, which is subsequently recovered/separated from the heavy oil via membrane filtration. Residual hydrocarbons, i.e., heavy oil and solvent employed in the filtration for the heavy oil extraction are removed from the catalyst particles in a drying zone which employs at least two drying apparatuses to volatize residual hydrocarbons in the catalyst. Valuable metals can be recovered from catalyst particles for subsequent re-use in a catalyst synthesis unit, generating a fresh slurry catalyst.

Abstract: A non-woven fabric includes flame retardant fibers and binding fibers mixed with the flame retardant fibers. The binding fibers set a thickness of the fabric. Application of a flame to the fabric causes the binding fibers to degrade and the flame retardant fibers to expand such that the thickness of the fabric increases, for example by a factor of two or more. The non-woven fabric can be used in a wide variety of different applications. For example, the non-woven fabric may be used to make seals of a drier, heat shields, fire barriers, and/or vents.
Abstract: A clothes dryer capable of providing a dry course suitable for functional clothes, and a control method thereof, the control method including if a substance accommodated in a dry tub to be dried is functional clothes, performing a first dry process to dry the substance at a first reference dry temperature, and performing a second dry process to dry the substance at a second reference dry temperature higher than the first reference dry temperature.

Abstract: A washing machine includes an outer casing, a tub mounted in the outer casing, a rotating tub rotatably mounted in the tub and a vibration damping device located in the outer casing for damping vibration of the tub using a cylinder enclosing an operating fluid. The operating fluid includes a functional fluid. The washing machine further includes a control unit which is configured to control a viscosity of the functional fluid. The control unit is configured to change the viscosity of the functional fluid according to rotation of the rotating tub in a dehydration step to vary a damping force of the vibration damping device.
Abstract: An apparatus for drying organic waste dries and pulverizes organic waste, such as sewage sludge generated at a sewage pipe and a sewage treatment plant, various hydrous sludge waste, and food waste. The apparatus includes a drying drum rotatably provided on a base, a supply unit and a discharge pipe respectively provided at sealing caps for sealing front and rear sides of the drying drum, first and second pulverizing rotational blades driven by rotation axes provided at the front portion in the drying drum in a lengthwise direction thereof, an auxiliary pulverizing rotation blade driven by a rotation axis provided at the rear portion in the drying drum in a lengthwise direction thereof, a first opening portion and a first sealing member for discharging fine dried powder generated in a drying process, a second opening portion and a second sealing member for discharging completely dried organic waste, and a drying burner for blowing hot wind into the drying drum.
Abstract: A household appliance includes a drying chamber, a process air loop and a heat pump. The heat pump includes a heat transfer loop containing a heat transfer fluid, an evaporator heat exchanger, a liquefier heat exchanger, a compressor, and a nozzle. The heat transfer fluid has a critical temperature above 60° C., a nominal heat of vaporization at boiling point of at least 220 kJ/kg, a GWP index of less than 150 and a lower flammability level of at least 0.1 kg/m3. Preferably, the household appliance is a dryer for drying wet laundry.
