  • Patent number: 8653939
Abstract: A coded wireless sensor unit has a slot sized to receive a key card. When a key card is inserted into the slot, the act of insertion generates a energy-harvested power pulse, which powers circuitry that reads electrical device control information coded on the key card and creates a first information packet signal that is transmitted by an on-board transmitter. The signal can be read by a receiver and relayed to a control unit which controls certain electrical devices which consume line power in response to received information packet signals. The control unit decodes received information packet signals and either turns on or activates the electrical devices in accordance with the decoded device control information. Removal of a key card can also be used to generate a power pulse, which creates a second information packet signal that is used to turn off or deactivate the electrical devices.

In one aspect, authorization data specifying that a beverage dispensing node is authorized to be activated are received. Activation data that request activation of the node are also received, where activation of the node causes a valve that controls flow of fluid to a beverage dispenser to be opened. A determination is made that the activation data are associated with a user identifier for an enabled user, where an enabled user is a user that has been enabled to activate the node. In response to receipt of the authorization data and the activation data a valve that controls flow of fluid to the beverage dispenser is opened. Data (e.g., de-authorization or de-activation data) specifying that an activated beverage dispensing apparatus be de-activated can also be received. In response to receipt of the data, the valve can be closed.

  • Patent number: 8613049
Abstract: The invention provides a network system which can prevent an illegal access to a network or the like set in a specific area and improve security of the network. The network system permits the entering of the user into a security area in accordance with security information (user ID) read out of a contactless IC in a carrying ID card by an entering/leaving room managing apparatus and registers an MAC address of a notebook computer carried by the user when he enters the security area to a managing server as ID information corresponding to the user ID. When a leaving request of the user is received through the entering/leaving room managing apparatus, the network system deletes the registered ID information and restricts connection between the notebook computer and the network on the basis of a registration situation of the ID information to the managing server.
