Abstract: Computer-implemented methods for rendering a volumetric dataset and a surface embedded in the volumetric dataset are described. One method includes performing a volume rendering process to generate a volume rendering of the volume. Based on the volume rendering process, depths of respective locations in the volume rendering are determined, and the depths stored in association with the respective locations. A surface rendering process generates a surface rendering of a surface using the depths and respective locations. The volume rendering and the surface rendering are combined into a combined rendering of the volume and surface. In another method, depths of the surface at respective locations with respect to the volume are determined and the depths are stored in association with the locations. A volume rendering process includes a shading process which uses the depths of the surface and the respective locations.

Abstract: A log-to-metrics transformation system includes a log-to-metrics application executing on a processor. The log-to-metrics transformation system receives a format associated with machine data, and further receives, via a first graphical control, a first set of metric identifiers corresponding to a first set of metrics associated with the machine data. The log-to-metrics transformation system generates a first set of mappings between the first set of metric identifiers and a first set of field values included in the machine data. The log-to-metrics transformation system stores the first set of mappings and an association with the format of the machine data. The log-to-metrics transformation system, based on the first set of mappings, causes the first set of field values to be extracted from the machine data. Further, a first metric included in the first set of metrics is determined based on at least a portion of the first set of field values.

A fast historical frame can be generated along with a full historical frame generated for a denoising process, with the fast historical frame being accumulated using an exponential moving average with a significantly higher blend weight. This fast history frame can be used to determine a clamping window that can be used to clamp a corresponding full historical value before, or after, reprojection. The fast historical blend weight can be adjusted to control the amount of noise versus temporal lag in an image sequence. In some embodiments, differences between fast and full historical values can also be used to determine an amount of spatial filtering to be applied.

Abstract: A “Concurrent Projector-Camera” uses an image projection device in combination with one or more cameras to enable various techniques that provide visually flicker-free projection of images or video, while real-time image or video capture is occurring in that same space. The Concurrent Projector-Camera provides this projection in a manner that eliminates video feedback into the real-time image or video capture. More specifically, the Concurrent Projector-Camera dynamically synchronizes a combination of projector lighting (or light-control points) on-state temporal compression in combination with on-state temporal shifting during each image frame projection to open a “capture time slot” for image capture during which no image is being projected. This capture time slot represents a tradeoff between image capture time and decreased brightness of the projected image.

Abstract: Adaptive sampling of pixels is disclosed. In some embodiments, convergence of pixels of a rendering is evaluated by removing texture from the rendering to eliminate non-convergence due to texture complexity and determining whether pixels values satisfy convergence criteria associated with pixel sampling. Those pixels of the rendering that have not converged are sampled with one or more additional samples. The completed rendering is output. Pixels of the completed rendering satisfy the convergence criteria and are not uniformly sampled.

Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for providing a mobile device application and rendering engine, for use with a data analytics environment in generating interactive visualizations of large amounts of data, with high frame rates. The mobile device can receive, from a data analytics server, a data payload describing data points associated with data analytics visualizations, and employs shader objects or routines (shaders) in combination with a graphics processing unit (GPU), to render data visualizations with high resolution, including support for features such as drill-downs. User interaction with a visualization can be interpreted by the rendering engine as transformations or deltas of an original presentation, and communicated to a shader to cause the GPU to render an updated visualization. A hierarchical data model enables data visualizations to be layered and brought forward or backward within the overall presentation in a multi-dimensional exploratory manner.
