Examples include acquisition of print content, creation of a URI including URI scheme name associated with a print application and a reference to a user-privileged storage location of a computing device for the print content. Examples further include performing an application programming interface (API) call including the URI to cause an operating system to launch the print application.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus for providing at least a service to a service requestor receives a service execution request and authentication information of a service requestor from the service requestor and issues a request for authenticating the service requestor to an authentication service. Also, the image processing apparatus executes the requested service based on an authentication result transmitted from the authentication service. Further, the image processing apparatus manages an execution state of the executed service and an authentication state of the service requestor by associating the execution state with the authentication state.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling the operation of a printing press and a flexographic printing press for implementing said method, wherein the method comprises performing the following steps: a) capturing information from at least one image printed by said printing press; and b) comparing said information captured from said printed image with at least some digital-format information predetermined in prepress, or digital prepress information, including at least one part of the image to be printed. The method comprises adjusting the pressure and/or register setting of one or more printing units of the printing press, using at least the result of the comparison in said step b). The press is designed in order to implement the method.

Abstract: There is a method and system for capability-based resource allocation in a software-defined environment that performs the following steps (not necessarily in the following order): (i) determining a set of capability characteristics for a plurality of workload resources within a software-defined environment; (ii) determining a set of workload components for a specified workload; and (iii) identifying a set of workload resources from the plurality of workload resources to allocate to the specified workload based, at least in part, on the set of capability characteristics corresponding to each workload within the set of workload resources. A workload component of the set of workload components has a unique set of workload characteristics.

Abstract: Disclosed are devices and methods for processing an image document in a client-server environment such that privacy of text information contained in the image document is preserved. Specifically, in a client-server environment, an image document can be processed using a local computerized device of a client to create an obfuscated document by identifying word images in the image document and scrambling those word images. The obfuscated document can be received by a server of a service provider over a network (e.g., the Internet) and processed by previously trained software (e.g., a previously trained convolutional neural network (CNN)) to recognize specific words represented by the scrambled images in the obfuscated document without having to reconstruct the image document. Since the image document is neither communicated over the network, nor reconstructed and stored on the server, privacy concerns are minimized.

Abstract: An apparatus, such as a display device, may have a processor, memory storing computer-readable instructions, and a display portion. The apparatus may obtain one or more second files in response to converting a first file into the one or more second files. The plurality of second files may be obtained one by one. The apparatus may determine whether all of one or more selected files from among the one or more second files have been obtained, prior to obtaining all of the one or more second files. The one or more selected files may be a subset of the one or more second files. The apparatus may also output the one or more selected files in response to determining that all of the one or more selected files have been obtained.

Abstract: A page included in a preview page is deleted from an output target document. A logical page corresponding to the deleted page and logical pages corresponding to undeleted pages are represented in different formats on a display unit. A preview page representing one of the undeleted pages is displayed on the display unit. The deleted page is restored as an output target page in the output target document.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method, a client device and a server of accessing network information through a graphic code. The method comprises: receiving an access request from a client, where the access request includes information of a graphic code; querying and obtaining, in a server, display information and action instruction that is configured in correspondence with the information of the graphic code in the access request; and performing a corresponding action in the display information according to the action instruction information to obtain an access result of the graphic code. The disclosed method simplifies operations of a user without waiting for the user's step-by-step operation requests, and further simplifies a handling process of the server. In addition, this method of directly returning an access result of a graphic code to a client fulfills an intention of a publisher of the graphic code.

Abstract: A three dimensional printer is configured to move at least one printhead from an area where the printhead is forming an object to a position opposite a shaft. The at least one printhead is operated to eject material onto the shaft and the shaft is rotated to enable a light sensor to generate signals indicative of a height of material at a plurality of positions on the shaft. The signals are compared to an expected height of material at each position to identify inoperative inkjets in the at least one printhead.

Abstract: A home control system has at least one peripheral device, a controlling device, and a mobile device. The mobile device determines whether the controlling device is connectable. When the mobile device determines that the controlling device is connectable, the mobile device is connected to the at least one peripheral device via the controlling device and transmits a control signal to the at least one peripheral device. When the mobile device determines that the controlling device is unconnectable, the mobile device is directly connected to the at least one peripheral device and transmits the control signal to the at least one peripheral device. Therefore, when the controlling device is broken, a user may still operate the mobile device to control the at least one peripheral device.

In one embodiment, the method includes ranking a plurality of storage areas of a storage device according to at least one property of the plurality of storage areas. In some embodiments, the plurality of storage areas include at least a first storage area and a second storage area. The method includes obtaining a sample of data at the storage device, passing the sample of data through one or more compression codecs, and analyzing a result of passing the sample of data through the one or more compression codecs. In some embodiments, the result includes a score of compression savings associated with the sample of data. The method includes storing the data in one of the plurality of storage areas based at least in part on the analyzing the result of passing the sample of data through the one or more compression codecs.

Abstract: Techniques and structures relating to virtual graphics processing units (VGPUs) are disclosed. A VGPU may appear to software as an independent hardware GPU. However, two or more VGPUs can be implemented on the same GPU through the use of control structures and by duplicating some (but not all) hardware elements of the GPU. For example, additional registers and storage space may be added in a GPU supporting multiple VGPUs. Different execution priorities may be set for tasks and threads that correspond to the different supported VGPUs. Memory address space for the VGPUs may also be managed, including use of virtual address space for different VGPUs. Halting and resuming execution of different VGPUs allows for fine-grained execution control in various embodiments.

The system may include a paper collator with at one selectively openable shelf. A control device may monitor the capacity of the selectively openable shelf, and instruct a printer to hold printing additional print jobs. The selectively openable shelf may then be opened to allow the printed literature resting thereon to fall to a lower shelf, and the printer can then be restarted. Sheets of printed literature may be drawn from the paper collator, collected with any other sheets of printed literature associated with a prescription order, and mated with the prescription order for shipment.

Abstract: Disclosed are printing devices and methods that accommodate the use of multiple different output color modes and, thereby multiple different output color profiles and that support user selection of any of the profiles for printing different logical pages on a single print surface. Consequently, they do not require a user to trade off between a desire to achieve a particular result in an image on one logical page, wherein the particular result is only achievable with an extended gamut profile, and a desire to avoid the higher cost associated with unnecessarily using the extended gamut profile to print a different image on a different logical page on the same print surface. Thus, the printing devices and methods provide for rendering of both standard and enhanced quality images on the same print surface in accordance with user selections and for minimizing costs associated with printing (e.g., due to excessive colorant usage).

Abstract: A method and related apparatus for processing print jobs, which automatically edits both the document to be printed and the job ticket based on a state or content of the document itself, without user intervention, to achieve certain printing effects such as inserting tab sheets of slip sheets, removing pages, inserting annotations, changing finishing settings, etc. In one specific example, by checking whether each page includes a specific key phrase or is associated with a specific bookmark, the document and the job ticket are automatically edited so that a tab sheet or slip sheet is inserted at a corresponding position. A program is also provided to emulate the result of the editing the print job and original document.

Abstract: A touch panel includes an array of pixels, a scan drive circuit, and a touch detection circuit. The array includes a plurality of sets of scan lines and a plurality of sets of data lines that orthogonally intersect with each other. The plurality of sets of data lines includes a first type of sets and a second type of sets that are disposed apart from each other. The scan drive circuit is electrically connected with the sets of scan lines and provides each set of the scan lines with a first scan drive signal sequentially set by set. The touch detection circuit provides the first type of sets with a touch drive signal and detects a touch sense signal from the second type of sets when each set of scan lines receives the first scan drive signal.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide the capability to offload a data entry activity from a Multi-Function Printer (MFP) to a remote computing device, such as a user's computer, tablet, smartphone, etc. In one embodiment, the MFP generates a scan of a document for a user, and holds the scanned document pending a data entry activity that assigns metadata to the scanned document. The MFP identifies a remote computing device for performing the data entry activity by the user, provides a notification to the remote computing device requesting the metadata for the scanned document, and receives the metadata from the remote computing device. The MFP assigns the metadata to the scanned document, and to release the scanned document to a scan destination.

Abstract: An image scanning method includes: generating, in a terminal, a scan job ticket as a data file containing content of a job for storing scan data, generated by image scanning, in a storage; based on the content of the job, generating, in an image scanning apparatus, a scan send ticket as a data file for sending the scan data; transmitting the scan job ticket from the terminal to the image scanning apparatus; in response to the receiving of the scan job ticket, authenticating, in the image scanning apparatus, the scan job ticket based on authentication information in the scan send ticket; and in response to the authentication, storing the scan data in the storage according to the content of the job.

Abstract: A method for minimizing power consumption of a laser printer includes receiving page description language (PDL) data corresponding to a printing task, identifying commands corresponding to the received PDL data, computing a total predicted rendering time corresponding to the identified commands, computing a print deferral time according to the total predicted rendering time wherein the print deferral time corresponds to an amount of time by which printing drum initialization can be deferred without delaying completion of the printing task, and configuring a printing drum to begin operation according to the print deferral time. A computer program product and computer system corresponding to the method are also disclosed.

The image forming apparatus includes an execution unit configured to execute a shift processing for shifting the image forming apparatus into a power saving state, a notification unit configured to notify the post-processing apparatus of an instruction to stop supply of power to the post-processing apparatus, and a power control unit configured to control the supply of power to the execution unit. When the second unit is located at the closed position, movement of the cover to the second position is limited by the first unit, and the cover is located at a position opposed to the first unit and different from a position of the pressing member. When the second unit is located at an open position, the limitation of the movement is canceled.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing print jobs associated with multiple customers. Customer-editable design templates for printed products and design software tools enabling creation by customers of custom print product designs are provided, via a network, to multiple customers operating corresponding electronic devices. Individual print jobs corresponding to custom print product designs created by multiple different customers via the electronic devices are received and automatically aggregated into an aggregate print job comprising individual print jobs from different customers. The aggregated individual print jobs in the aggregate print job are printed simultaneously on one or more units of a shared substrate when the aggregate print job is printed.

Abstract: A method for the dynamic printing process calibration of a printing press includes determining a calibration dataset for the colored halftones of the process colors, determining a calibration dataset for the gray halftones of the process colors, determining a weighting factor for the two calibration datasets as a function of the original print and calculating a combined calibration dataset from the two determined calibration datasets, with reference to the weighting factor. The calculated combined calibration dataset is applied to the calibration of the printing process of a printing press.

Abstract: In an example, a method of calibrating a white point of a display may include receiving a plurality of color values, and one or more measured color values corresponding to one or more colors displayed by a first target display. The method may include generating, based on the plurality of color values and the one or more measured color values, a second-order or higher response-surface regression model that maps color values corresponding to a second color space to color values corresponding to a first color space. The method may include generating predicted color values for a specified white point by inputting a plurality of specified color values corresponding to the specified white point into the second-order or higher response-surface regression model, where each predicted color value may correspond to the first color space and each of the specified color values may correspond to the second color space.
