  • Patent number: 8675948
Abstract: A mask inspection apparatus includes irradiation means for irradiating a sample with an electron beam, electron detection means for detecting a quantity of electrons generated from the sample having a pattern formed thereon by the irradiation with the electron beam, image processing means for generating image data of the pattern on the basis of the quantity of the electrons, and control means for creating a line profile and a differential profile of the pattern formed on the sample on the basis of the quantity of the electrons detected by the electron detection means. The control means detects a rising edge and a falling edge of the pattern on the basis of the differential profile, and then generates mask data of a multi-level structure on the basis of data of the edges and the image data created by the image processing means.

  • Patent number: 8670066
Abstract: A vision system useful in acquiring images includes: a light dome having a window and a perimeter; an annular light curtain positioned within and radially inwardly from the perimeter of the light dome such that an annular gap is formed between the light dome and the light curtain; and a light ring positioned to illuminate the gap between the light dome and the light curtain. The light curtain and window are sized and positioned such that no direct light from the light ring reaches the window. The system further comprises a camera having a lens facing the window to acquire images of an object on a side of the window opposite the camera. The images acquired by the camera can then be compared to stored images to determine whether the identity of the objects (which may be pharmaceutical tablets) is as expected.

Abstract: A surface state inspection apparatus has a lighting device that irradiates an inspection target placed on a stage with light, an imaging device that images the inspection target, and a detection device that detects a surface defect of the inspection target by analyzing a first inspection image obtained by the imaging device. The lighting device is a surface light source that includes a light emission region having a predetermined size and, in the lighting device, portions of light emitted from positions in the light emission region differ from each other in a spectral distribution. The detection device detects a portion in which a hue is different from that of its surrounding portion in the inspection target surface as a flaw. The detection device detects a portion in which the hue is substantially equal to that of its surrounding portion while brightness is different from that of its surrounding portion as a stain.

  • Patent number: 8611636
Abstract: A system and method for high-speed alignment of components is provided. During training time of a machine vision system, a small subset of alignment significant blobs along with a quantum of geometric analysis for picking granularity is determined. By utilizing only the alignment significant blobs and the geometric analysis, the use of conventional alignment techniques may achieve significantly better speed and robustness for component alignment. In operation, during training time, grayscale blobs are extracted using a scale space search. Alignment significant blobs are then determined from the grayscale blobs. Once alignment significant blobs are determined, run time smoothing and down sampling are then determined on the alignment significant blobs. The machine vision system is then trained to operate with the alignment significant regions.

  • Patent number: 8605984
Abstract: A cigarette inspection device for inspecting a filter quality through an inspection image of filter end faces in a bundle of cigarettes for accurately detecting, for example, only contaminations. A pattern image is used for detecting a cigarette location on the basis of a preset location of each cigarette in the cigarette bundle and a search area on the inspection image is set. The pattern image is shifted within the search area, thereby obtaining a position at which the pattern image coincides with an image of the filter end face. An image of a filter end face of the cigarette is cut out from the inspection image according to the detected position, and quality (contamination) is inspected. Inspection results obtained with respect to the cigarettes are aggregated, and a judgment is made on the quality (presence or absence of a contamination) of the filter end face.

  • Patent number: 8600147
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for measuring full field deformation characteristics of a deformable body. The method includes determining optical setup design parameters for measuring displacement and strain fields, and generating and applying a dot pattern on a planar side of a deformable body. A sequence of images of the dot pattern is acquired before and after deformation of the body. Irregular objects are eliminated from the images based on dot light intensity threshold and the object area or another geometrical cutoff criterion. The characteristic points of the dots are determined, and the characteristic points are matched between two or more of the sequential images. The displacement vector of the characteristic points is found, and mesh free or other techniques are used to estimate the full field displacement based on the displacement vector of the characteristic points. Strain tensor or other displacement-derived quantities can also be estimated using mesh-free or other analysis techniques.
