Abstract: A back material of a metal band saw high in fatigue strength which consists essentially of, by weight, 0.20 - 0.33% C, up to 1.5% Si, up to 1.5% Mn, 3.5 - 6.5% Cr, 0.05 - 0.40% V, 0.05 - 0.10% Al, 0.02 - 0.30% Nb, at least one of 1.0 - 3.0% Mo and up to 4.0% W and the balance Fe and impurities, the sum of (% Mo) + 1/2 (% W) being within the range of 1.0 - 3.0%.
