Abstract: A tool-support apparatus for attachment to a grinding machine, in particular to a wet grinding machine, which has at least one grinding disc arranged on a rotatably drivable grinding-disc shaft and a machine frame or housing in which the grinding-disc shaft is supported. The tool-support apparatus has a tool-support, which can be secured on a machine frame or housing of the grinding machine, for the support during the grinding process of a tool that is to be ground, and an arresting apparatus for securing the tool support on the machine frame or housing. The tool-support can be secured on the machine frame or housing in such a way that it can be swivelled about the grinding-disc shaft or about a swivel axis parallel to the grinding-disc shaft and can be arrested by way of the arresting apparatus in a plurality of angular positions.

Abstract: The object of the present invention is to enable efficient vibration processing by applying a sufficient displacement amount and response speed to an object to be vibrated. In grinding of an outer surface of a workpiece W, first and second supporting members are provided for supporting two opposed points of the workpiece, and first and second vibrators comprising a plurality of piezoelectric elements are arranged in blind holes formed in the center of the first and second supporting members. The first and second vibrators are activated with sine wave signals which differ in phase by 180 degrees so as to cause the first and second supporting members to expand and shrink in the back-and-forth direction. The displacement amount is amplified and the processing is performed. Also, the second supporting member can move back and forth toward the first supporting member.
Abstract: A grinding machine, which includes a grinding wheel rotatable by a motor, a first slide movable in X-axis direction, a second slide supported on the first slide and movable in Y-direction, a bracket supported on the second slide and turnable about Y-axis, a tool holder supported on the bracket for holding the workpiece for grinding by the grinding wheel, and a driving mechanism for rotating and reciprocating the tool holder.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to a device for producing molds for toothed belts. A grinding wheel (9) that has a profiled periphery is used instead of a milling cutter to provide the circumference of a roller-shaped blank (4) with the matrix of a desired tooth contour of a toothed belt. The circumferential profile of the grinding wheel (9) is trimmed using a CNC-controlled diamond trimming pin (11) or alternatively with a profiling diamond (19).
Abstract: An adaptive work table-reciprocation control system and method that can reduce a grinding time. The system uses a vibration sensor head installed on a chuck surface in the vicinity of the workpiece to detect a vibration signal emitted from the contact zone between the grinding wheel and the workpiece. When the value of the vibration signals falls below a trigger level, a work table direction of motion is reversed.
Abstract: A method for forming a cutting edge along an edge portion of a blade stock, wherein the method includes moving the blade stock with respect to a first cutting element rotating about a first rotational axis, the first rotational axis forming one of an acute angle and a perpendicular angle with respect to the cutting edge, and contacting the edge portion and the first cutting element and forming a first cutting surface along the edge portion. The method may also include moving the blade stock with respect to a second cutting element rotating about a second rotational axis, the second rotational axis forming one of an acute angle and a perpendicular angle with respect to the cutting edge, and contacting the edge portion and the second cutting element and forming a second cutting surface along the edge portion so that the second cutting surface intersects the first cutting surface to form the cutting edge.

Abstract: A grinding jig (5) is to be attached on an edge tool (4) to be ground on a rotating grindstone (2) in a grinding machine (1), having a support means (3) in the vicinity of the grindstone. The jig is split by having a base portion (6) and two parallel open yokes (8, 9) extending therefrom. A screw (7) for clamping the tool (4) against the bottoms of the yokes is provided in the base portion between the two yokes.
Abstract: A glass product machining apparatus comprises a grindstone rotatable around an axis by means of a motor, moving table movable under the grindstone in the cross direction of the grindstone, frame for supporting the grindstone for up-and-down motion, lift, guides, supporting arms, pressure cylinder supported on the frame, and dressing machine for dressing or truing the grindstone. The pressure cylinder serves to apply a fixed elastic load to the grindstone as the grindstone shifts its position upward. A glass panel is located on the moving table. The panel moves together with the table. When the panel passes under the grindstone, an outer peripheral surface of the grindstone is brought into contact with the surface of the panel with a fixed force of pressure by the pressure cylinder. The grindstone relatively moves along the curved surface of the panel as it grinds the panel surface.
Abstract: Reconditioning a fiber for laser applications by cleaving off its tip and shaping the cleaved end into a conical or pyramidal shape with a grinder. The cleaved end is grasped in a fiber holder. The grinder is driven, e.g., to rotate. The fiber holder is moved relative to the grinder to bring it into contact with the moving grinder. The fiber holder may be rotated during the contact. Preferably, the axis of symmetry of the fiber is substantially parallel to the plane of rotation of the grinder to effect tangential grinding.

Abstract: An apparatus for the precision grinding of conical valve seats of nozzles, for example, injection nozzles for internal combustion engines. The body is entered hydraulically on a mandrel and a driver has a rubber O-ring braced against the nozzle body to frictionally engage it is rotation while passing through the mandrel for the shaft of a grinding tool which is located at the end of the mandrel. The system avoids radial clamping stresses on the workpiece and hence allows, precision low tolerance finish grinding to be achieved.
