  • Patent number: 5739177
Abstract: A dental composition containing an acid such as maleic acid, phosphoric acid or citric acid; an organosulfonate and/or an organosulfinate such as an acid group-containing (meth)acrylate monomer having in the molecules thereof a carboxyl group or a phosphoric acid group, a sodium benzenesulfonate or a sodium p-toluenesulfinate; a water-soluble organic solvent such as ethanol or propanol; and the water: but without substantially containing any polymerizable monomer except the above acid group-containing (meth)acrylate monomer, or further containing a hydroxy- or a dihydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate monomer. For adhesion of a dental filling material to teeth, the composition of the invention is used as a pre-treatment agent on teeth prior to applying an adhesive. This makes it possible to treat enamel and dentin simultaneously and to accomplish strong adhesive strength to both of them.

  • Patent number: 5502089
Abstract: A crosslinkable polymeric emulsion has a pH from about 1.5 to about 8.5 and includes a carboxyl-substituted latex polymer dispersed in an aqueous medium, an Iron (III) compound and an amount of a stabilizer, selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactants and protective colloids, effective to sterically stabilize the emulsion. A method for making a crosslinked polymer film includes forming a layer of the crosslinkable polymer emulsion and drying the layer to form the crosslinked polymer film wherein the film is ionically crosslinked between carboxyl substituent groups of the polymer by Iron (III) cations. A crosslinking agent for carboxyl-substituted polymers includes particles of a water-insoluble Iron (III) compound having an average maximum characteristic linear dimension of less than or equal to about 5 microns.

  • Patent number: 5502096
Abstract: A room temperature curable rubber composition of a condensation curing type that comprises as a base polymer a diorganopolysiloxane or a polyoxyalkylene in which both ends of the molecular chain are blocked with a hydrolyzable silyl group, and a carbonyl compound, an amino group containing organic compound, and an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carbonyl compound that are blended with the base polymer. Since the room temperature curable rubber composition is cured with water in the air and at the same time the dehydration condensation of the carbonyl group and the amino group produces water in the composition, the quick curability and deep curability are improved remarkably.
