  • Patent number: 10646662
Abstract: An injection device that comprises a chamber configured for containing a substance to be injected and a needle operatively associated with the chamber and having a length sufficient to deliver the substance to an intradermal injection site. A collar surrounds the needle, defining a collar cavity. The collar also has a peripheral forward skin-contacting surface that surrounds and is radially spaced from the needle and injection site by an area that is sufficiently large to allow a patient's skin to move into the collar cavity to properly position the needle for intradermal delivery of the substance to the injection site to allow spread of the injected substance under the skin while inhibiting or preventing backpressure within the skin from forcing the substance out through the injection site.

  • Patent number: 10576206
Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing, a carrier, and an expandable assembly. The housing defines an opening configured to selectively place a gas chamber of the housing in fluid communication with an exterior volume. The carrier is movably disposed within the housing and is coupled to a medicament container. A proximal surface of the carrier defines a portion of a boundary of the gas chamber. The expandable assembly has a first member and a second member. The first member is coupled to an elastomeric member disposed within the medicament container, and the second member includes a valve portion. The expandable assembly transitions from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration when the elastomeric member moves within the medicament container. The valve portion moves relative to the opening when the expandable assembly transitions from the first to the second configuration, placing the gas chamber in fluid communication with the exterior volume.

A spring loaded element resiliently urges said receiving means away from the support in one embodiment.

Abstract: An assembly for a drug delivery device comprises a housing, a rotation member, a drive member and at least one correction member. The rotation member is adapted to be rotated with respect to the housing in a first rotational direction for delivering a dose of a drug. The drive member is coupleable to the rotation member for delivering the dose. In a delivery mode, the drive member and the rotation member are coupled such that the drive member follows rotational movement of the rotation member in the first rotational direction due to mechanical interaction of the rotation member and the drive member. In a correction mode, the rotation member and the drive member are decoupled such that the rotation member is rotatable in the first rotational direction with respect to the drive member.

Abstract: A delay mechanism for an automatic injection device having a housing and a medication filled syringe. The delay mechanism includes a shuttle, a follower, a damping compound, at least one biasing member, and a biased plunger element. When moved in the device housing from a first location to a second location, the biased plunger element is adapted to drive the syringe piston within syringe barrel to force medication through the syringe needle for an injection. The follower, when the plunger element is so moved, is freed to move, under urging of the at least one biasing member, from a first position on the housing toward a second position to thereby move the shuttle for retracting the syringe needle into the housing after injection. The damping compound dampens or slows rotation of the follower as the follower moves from the first position toward the second position.

Abstract: This invention relates to a fluid delivery apparatus, system and method, in particular the use of elastic bands to generate the force required to push fluid out from a container. The fluid that is delivered from the container maybe prefilled and stored prior to its actuation by the elastic band driver or it could be filled just before use. In one embodiment disclosed, a prefilled option would require the user to attach an appropriate extension tubing that acts as a flow control tube to the fluid container which in one embodiment is tubular shaped. In the application where the device is filled just before use, the fluid container that would be engaged with the actuating housing is presented with a fixed rate flow tube. The selection of a particular device configuration replaces the need for programming a flow rate into an electronic syringe pump.
