  • Patent number: 10627814
Abstract: A system and method are provided for influencing vehicle systems while taking into account relevant signal generators, particularly relevant signal generator condition signals. A determination unit identifies relevant signal generators and/or their signal generator condition signals and an output unit generates an output signal to a vehicle system as a function of the result of the determination unit. The determination unit for the identification of relevant signal generators and/or relevant signal generator condition signals takes into account information concerning identified concealed signal generators.

  • Patent number: 10621795
Abstract: A method is provided for identifying whether a vehicle has entered, departed, or stayed in a target lane as opposed to an adjacent non-target lane of a segmented roadway. Signals are received from at least one signal source at a receiver within, attached to or integrated into the vehicle marking the geographic position of the vehicle at a sampling rate in a detailed travel path. At each sampled point in the travel path, the method compares the standard perpendicular distance between: the vehicle and the target lane centerline (d1); and the vehicle and the non-target lane centerline (d2); It is assessed that the vehicle is in the target lane if the distance d1 is less than the distance d2, and otherwise, it is assessed that the vehicle is in the non-target lane.

  • Patent number: 10580407
Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for utilizing global models to generate local models for electronic devices in an environment, and techniques for utilizing the global models and/or the local models to provide notifications that are based on anomalies detected within the environment. For instance, a remote system may receive an identifier associated with an electronic device and identify a global model using the identifier. The remote system may then receive data indicating state changes of the electronic device and use the data and the global model to generate a local model associated with the electronic device. Using the global model and/or local model, the remote system can identify anomalies associated with the electronic device and, in response to identifying an anomaly, notify the user. The remote system can further cause the electronic device to change states after receiving a request from the user.

  • Patent number: 10556588
Abstract: A vehicle traveling control apparatus includes a determiner, a selector, and a switcher. The determiner determines a feature quantity of a third vehicle traveling ahead of a second vehicle for a plurality of targets present in front of the second vehicle traveling ahead of a first vehicle as an own vehicle when generating a target route and controlling a follow-up traveling of the first vehicle. The selector selects, among the plurality of targets, the third vehicle to be followed by the first vehicle based on a determination result of the feature quantity, when the second vehicle departs from a position in front of the first vehicle. The switcher switches the target route from a first target route generated based on a traveling trajectory of the second vehicle to a second target route generated based on a traveling trajectory of the third vehicle upon the departure of the second vehicle.

Abstract: Probe data collected at times of low traffic density is analyzed to derive a Raw Road Design Speed Limit (RRDSL, 16) for each road segment or group of segments in a digital map. The RRDSL (16), comprised of longitudinally distributed speeds, is associated with the road segment and stored in a digital medium to indicate the limits of the road section in free flow traffic. The longitudinally distributed speeds may be limited by local speed limits or other business logic to establish a Legal Raw Road Design Speed Limit (LRRDSL, 17). Either the RRDSL (16) or the LRRDSL (17) can be further modified to smooth acceleration and deceleration rates between changes in the longitudinally distributed speeds to create an Optimal Longitudinal Speed Profile (OLSP, 18), which represents optimized energy consumption. Abstract: A server identifies landmarks associated with users as the users take part in trips or otherwise interact with a navigation system. The server causes presentation of the identified landmarks to the users during future trips, such as part of navigational directions along a route to a particular destination, or on a visible portion of a map user interface. Presentation of the user-specific landmarks allows the users with more context and thus the ability to better navigate.

Abstract: A waveguide apparatus includes a planar waveguide and at least one optical diffraction element (DOE) that provides a plurality of optical paths between an exterior and interior of the planar waveguide. A phase profile of the DOE may combine a linear diffraction grating with a circular lens, to shape a wave front and produce beams with desired focus. Waveguide apparati may be assembled to create multiple focal planes. The DOE may have a low diffraction efficiency, and planar waveguides may be transparent when viewed normally, allowing passage of light from an ambient environment (e.g., real world) useful in AR systems. Light may be returned for temporally sequentially passes through the planar waveguide. The DOE(s) may be fixed or may have dynamically adjustable characteristics. An optical coupler system may couple images to the waveguide apparatus from a projector, for instance a biaxially scanning cantilevered optical fiber tip.

Abstract: A system for determining a road frustration index value includes a vehicle and a user computing device within the vehicle and a remote computing system, where a telematics system associated with the vehicle senses a speed of the vehicle. The computing device calculates, in near real-time and based on vehicle speed information and the road class of one or more route segments of a travel route, a first frustration level value associated with the driver of the vehicle and identify, based on whether the first frustration level value meets a criterion, an alternate route segment having second frustration level value predicted to be less than the first frustration level value. The remote computing system receives information associated with the first route segment and the alternate route segment and calculates insurance cost based on the road frustration index values associated with a route traveled in the vehicle.

Abstract: An electronic device displays a first map view of a map that includes one or more map objects on a touch-sensitive display. While displaying the first map view, the device detects a first gesture of a first gesture type at a first location on the touch-sensitive display. The first location corresponds to a respective map object. In response to detecting the first gesture at the first location, the device enters a map view selection mode. While in the map view selection mode, the device detects a second gesture of a second gesture type at a second location on the touch-sensitive display. The second location corresponds to a respective location on the map. In response to detecting the second gesture at the second location, the device replaces the first map view with a second map view that includes a view of the respective map object from the respective location.
