Abstract: Integrating a blockchain ledger with an application external to the blockchain ledger is disclosed. A first method determines a state, to be written to a blockchain ledger, based on a contract transaction. A second method determines a state, to be written to the blockchain ledger, based on an adapter transaction. The first method includes an invocation of the second method. The second method verifies whether the adapter transaction includes a particular set of information associated with a particular application. If the adapter transaction includes the particular set of information, then both the contract transaction and the adapter transaction are committed to the blockchain ledger. If the adapter transaction does not include the particular set of information, then neither the contract transaction nor the adapter transaction are committed to the blockchain ledger. The state determined based on the adapter transaction is used to update the particular application.

Abstract: An improved blockchain is described herein that allows nodes to optionally generate a proof of work nonce separate from the proof of work nonce present in a burn chain. Generation of the proof of work nonce requires the consumption of energy, and the value of the proof of work nonce can be mapped to an amount of energy consumption. Similarly, an amount of energy consumption can be mapped to an amount of a cryptocurrency. For example, the mapping may indicate how much cryptocurrency could have been produced by the node if the consumed energy was instead put to mining the cryptocurrency. Thus, the node can submit a block commit that indicates the separate proof of work nonce and the amount of cryptocurrency burned. The node can aggregate the mapped amount and the amount burned to determine a probability of the node being selected as a leader.

  • Patent number: 11119826
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for reducing cold starts code within a serverless code execution system by providing a set of environments reserved for the code. A frontend distribute calls for execution among a set of manager devices that manage environments in the system, distributed in a manner that groups calls together and attempts to distribute calls of the same group to a stable subset of the manager devices. In the case that a user reduces or eliminates the number of environments reserved for the code, a frontend continues to distribute calls for execution of the code to those environments while they continue to be used. This reduces cold starts that might otherwise occur during reduction or elimination of reserved environments.

  • Patent number: 11093930
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for integrating a mobile payment application with other mobile applications while preventing security exposures. A set of application programming interfaces of mobile applications that may possibly be utilized by a pass created by a mobile payment application is generated in response to receiving an indication that the pass was created. A “pass,” as used herein, refers to a form of mobile payment, such as a gift card. A selection of these application programming interfaces may then be received to interact with the created pass. In this manner, the existing mobile applications are seamlessly integrated with the features of passes. Furthermore, a virtual container is created for the created pass and the selected application programming interfaces to interface with the created pass. By creating such a container, the data to be exposed to the application layer can be controlled.
