  • Patent number: 8812336
Abstract: A system for generating a work unit test ahead candidate list. A list is generated of all potential candidate systems for test ahead operations. A system in the potential candidate list is selected. It is determined whether any work unit in the selected system is waiting for short parts. Determining that no work unit in the selected system is waiting for short parts, a complexity score is calculated for each work unit in the selected system. The calculated complexity scores are added to a total system complexity score. It is then determined whether an override exists for a work unit in the selected system. Determining that an override does exist, the selected system is removed from the potential candidate list. A candidate list is generated from remaining systems in the potential candidate list. Then, the candidate list is outputted to provide recommendations for optimizing work unit test ahead operations.

  • Patent number: 8812335
Abstract: A machine-implemented method receives job specifications for at least one direct mail printing job from at least one user and creates at least one workflow related to the direct mail printing job. The workflow comprises at least one job activity. The method automatically transmits requests for bids on the job activities to entities for allowing the entities to bid on performing job activities within the workflow. Bids are received on the job activities from the entities and from rate cards previously established by the entities. The method identifies the lowest bids on an individual job activity-by job activity basis from the bids received from the entities and the rate cards and outputs the lowest bids to the user. The method receives an identification of a single selected entity to perform all activities within the workflow from the user and performing the workflow to output the direct-mail printing job.

  • Patent number: 8812339
Abstract: Non-pending tasks having no pending due dates (e.g., past due tasks) are scheduled with pending tasks having pending due dates by first generating a hypothetical schedule and then an actual schedule. The hypothetical schedule is generated by distributing hours to complete pending tasks as evenly as possible over as many days as possible up to respective due dates; then scheduling non-pending tasks during hours normally available for work and which are not distributed to pending tasks; and then recording as quasi due dates for respective non-pending tasks the dates that the respective non-pending tasks would be completed on the hypothetical schedule. The actual schedule is then generated by scheduling non-pending tasks with pending tasks in chronological order, according to pending due dates for pending tasks, and quasi due dates for non-pending tasks.

  • Patent number: 8799177
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, a computer-readable storage medium, and an apparatus for building a small business social graph. During operation, the system receives a collection of data from a first business. Next, the system determines if a first node for the first business exists in a social graph, wherein the social graph is a graph-based data model that indicates relationships among various businesses. If not, the system adds the first node for the first business to the social graph. The system then analyzes the collection of data to identify a second business. Next, the system determines if a second node for the second business exists in the social graph. If not, the system adds the second node for the second business to the social graph. Finally, the system adds a relationship between the first node and the second node to the social graph to indicate the relationship between the first business and the second business.

  • Patent number: 8762188
Abstract: A system evaluates reliability, performance and/or safety by automatically assessing the targeted system's requirements. A cost metric quantifies the impact of failures as a function of failure cost per unit of time. The metrics or measurements may render real-time (or near real-time) outcomes by initiating active response against one or more high ranked threats. The system may support or may be executed in many domains including physical domains, cyber security domains, cyber-physical domains, infrastructure domains, etc. or any other domains that are subject to a threat or a loss.

  • Patent number: 8762187
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods, systems, and computer program products for generic process modeling. One method includes identifying a business process for execution, the business process defined by one or more process steps, identifying a process routing table associated with the identified business process, at least a portion of the process routing table including one or more entries defining a set of business process rules for the identified business process, identifying a particular entry in the process routing table associated with a current state of the identified business process; and performing at least one action defined by the identified particular entry in the process routing table. In some instances, at least one entry in the process routing table is associated with one of a plurality of process patterns, with each process pattern comprising a reusable, predefined operation.

  • Patent number: 8762997
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to schedule jobs in a cloud computing infrastructure by receiving in a first queue jobs with deadlines or constraints specified in a hard service level agreement (SLA); receiving in a second queue jobs with a penalty cost metric specified in a soft SLA; and minimizing both constraint violation count and total penalty cost in the cloud computing infrastructure by identifying jobs with deadlines in the first queue and delaying jobs in the first queue within a predetermined slack range in favor of jobs in the second queue to improve the penalty cost metric.

  • Patent number: 8762186
Abstract: A method of creating an analogous workflow is provided. A first workflow is received at a first device, the first workflow including a plurality of first modules that are connected. A second workflow is received at the first device, the second workflow including a plurality of second modules that are connected. A third workflow is received at the first device, the third workflow including a plurality of third modules that are connected. An analogy workflow is determined based on a difference between the received first workflow and the received second workflow. The determined analogy workflow is applied to the received third workflow to define a fourth workflow. A method of identifying a workflow of a plurality of workflows is provided. A query workflow includes a plurality of modules that are connected. A workflow is identified that at least partially matches the received query workflow.

  • Patent number: 8762258
Abstract: Methods and computer storage media provide for evaluating the market value of items. A product specification data set identifies an item defined by two or more parameters, or items that differ in accordance with at least one parameter. For at least one item, transaction data sets that include previously-exposed transaction data between buyers and sellers are obtained. The transaction data represents market reference price data of a particular period of time. The market reference price data is adapted by applying one or more pre-defined rules, variables, or criteria operably associated with the item, a parameter of the item, and/or the one or more databases, to the market reference price data, transforming the transaction data sets into normalized market price data sets that are used to calculate a market value for the item, and communicate the market value to an output. In additional embodiments, price data sets are received and evaluated.

Abstract: Methods and systems for generating a heat map for a retail location are disclosed herein. The method includes monitoring a plurality of regions of a retail location and determining a plurality of crowd sizes based on the monitoring. Each crowd size of the plurality of crowd sizes corresponds to one of the plurality of regions. Furthermore each crowd size may be indicative of an amount of people in its corresponding region at a given time. The method further includes generating a heat map based on the plurality of crowd sizes, the heat map being indicative of the amount of people in each of the regions. The heat map and crowd sizes can be used by a customer while shopping at the retail location, to optimize a shopping route of the customer, and/or to estimate wait times at particular regions of the retail location.

  • Patent number: 8756093
Abstract: A rejection determination is made taking into consideration of an agreed service level for a combine workflow executed on a combine workflow system wherein a plurality of business application are collaborated with one another for business collaborations. A state is expressed which will appear when the combined workflow is hypothetically rejected, based on the progress thereof. A processing operation of the combined workflow is predicted based on the expressed state, taking into consideration the influence exerted on the plurality business application systems and the plurality of workflow systems in respect of response performance. A processing operation, which is the result of the prediction, and historical information of event information from the event information recording means are retrieved, and an evaluation value is calculated based on the result of the statistical processing of the historical information.

  • Patent number: 8755781
Abstract: A method for transferring data based on an event function is provided. The method includes receiving an event function from an event initiator. The event function is distributed to one or more destinations associated with event performers. A response message is received as a function of destination and time. It is determined whether the time is less than or equal to a limit time, and it is further determined whether an event parameter is greater than or equal to an event constant if the time is less than or equal to the limit time. Data is transferred from a data origination system accessible by the event initiator to a data destination system accessible by the event performer if the event parameter is greater than or equal to the event constant and if the time is less than or equal to the limit time.
