Abstract: There is provided an image processing device including: a data storage unit storing feature data indicating a feature of appearance of one or more physical objects; an environment map building unit for building an environment map based on an input image obtained by imaging a real space and the feature data, the environment map representing a position of a physical object present in the real space; a control unit for acquiring procedure data for a set of procedures of operation to be performed in the real space, the procedure data defining a correspondence between a direction for each procedure and position information designating a position at which the direction is to be displayed; and a superimposing unit for generating an output image by superimposing the direction for each procedure at a position in the input image determined based on the environment map and the position information, using the procedure data.

The data may be associated with characteristics of a plurality of data blocks of the storage device. A read operation or a write operation may be performed for the storage device based on the information specifying the organization of the data included in the data structure that is associated with the characteristics of the plurality of data blocks of the storage device.

Abstract: A method for providing content via a computer network and computing device, which may include: storing data associated with and indicative of a plurality of presentations; receiving a request to host an audio presentation; receiving and storing data associated with the requested audio presentation; initiating and recording one or more telephone calls; and, presenting at least a portion of the stored data for selection by the computing device; wherein, selection causes the stored data indicative of the selected audio/visual or audio presentation to be provided to the computing device for playback thereby via the computer network. The method may include storing data associated with and indicative of a first plurality of presentations; storing data associated with a plurality of second presentation feeds: automatically and periodically accessing each of the feeds; and aggregating each of the presentations for delivery via the computer network.

Abstract: A smart device is provided with a main remote control application that may be configured using information obtained from a QR code. The main remote control application may present images of original remote controls corresponding to devices which are controllable by the configured main remote control application. In connection with a presented image of an original remote control, the display may present icons that are representative of a subset of the buttons of the original remote control. The user interface also allows a user to select amongst the images of the original remote controls to change which appliances are to be controlled via the user interface. A pop-up remote control widget may also be provided which may be invoked without switching to the main remote control application provisioned on the smart device.

Abstract: A system and method for interfacing a television with a second device is provided. The system includes an interfacing unit to enter an interfacing mode between the television mode and the second device; a card storage unit to store a first card and a second card, the first card being presently displayed on the television and the second card being previously displayed on the television; a current card display register to store the first card; an interactive retrieval unit to retrieve a plurality of interactive functions associated with the first card, the plurality of interactive functions configured to instigate an action via the second device; and a display unit to display the first card and the plurality of interactive functions in response to being in the interfacing mode.

Abstract: Certain embodiments involve optimizing how interactive content is arranged in electronic communications. A processor identifies a subject matter type associated with first and second online content items having respective first and second presentation types. The processor determines that a client has previously interacted more extensively with online content having the subject matter type and the first presentation type as compared to other online content having the subject matter type and the second presentation type. The processor selects a layout for an electronic communication for accessing the online content items based on determining that the client interacted more extensively with online content having the first presentation type. The layout displays a first portion for accessing the first online content item more prominently than a second portion for accessing the second online content item. The processor presents the layout via an interface for editing the electronic communication.

Abstract: A digital magazine server user interacts with a client device presenting one or more content items from the digital magazine server to access various content items identified by the digital magazine server. For example, the user interacts with a portion of a display device of the client device and traverses to an additional portion of the display device to view additional content items on the display device. Based on a rate at which the user traverses from the portion to the additional portion, a content update rate is determined and used to select an indication of modification that is presented. The indication of modification provides the user with a visual indication that the content items presented by the display device are modified, and may include a subset of content items from the digital magazine server if the content update rate does not exceed a threshold.

Abstract: Apparatuses for playing signals received from the internet or other information highway or a stored database on one or more speakers are described. The apparatus has a receiver for receiving information from preselected addresses; a processor for interpreting the signals; and at least one speaker for playing signals from the internet. There is at least one holographic projector connected to the receiver for projecting a holographic image received from the internet. The processor selects images that correspond with the signals played by the speaker.

Abstract: The present disclosure involves a method for automating media audio volume based on the physical motion of a mobile computing device. In one embodiment, the method includes detecting motion of the mobile device based on input motion data from a motion detection mechanism, determining whether the detected motion of the mobile device exceeds a configured motion threshold, based on the determining, causing a logical state change to transition into a automated volume state, and after the logical state change to transition to the automated volume state, automatically configuring the audio volume of audio output provided by a mobile computing device based on configured volume and fade parameters.

Abstract: The local address book of a device can be crawled for contact information, which is communicated to an address clearinghouse. The clearinghouse can indicate whether a contact is a participant in a video calling service. If so, an indication can be stored locally indicating that the contact is a participant. Later, during an audio-only call with the contact, an option to escalate the audio-only call to a video call via the video calling service can be presented.

Abstract: A method, devices, computer program products and an internet service is disclosed for adapting a context model. In the method a media clip is received. Also sensor data captured at least partly when the media clip was captured is received. A context is derived using a context model based at least partly on the sensor data and an indication on the context is provided to a user by receiving a search query having at least one context-related search criterion, deriving a similarity between the context and the at least one context-related search criterion and causing at least a part of the media clip to be presented as a response to the search query. Feedback on the relevance of the context is received from the user. Based on the feedback, the context model may then be adapted.

Abstract: Techniques for determining a maturity level of a text string may be provided. For example, the text string may be associated with an electronic book or story, script or closed captioning of a movie or television show, or other text associated with media. The system may analyze the text string to identify actions in the text (e.g., concepts of death, degree of violence, etc.), story complexity (e.g., number of characters, linear/non-linear story flow, etc.), vocabulary (e.g., unique words, complexity of terms, etc.), and other metrics to determine the objective maturity level associated with the text string. The maturity level and/or references to electronic books associated with the particular maturity level may be provided to users and/or used in additional processing and analysis.

Abstract: The present application discloses methods and devices that are used to improve the display of a progress indictor for a program, such as an audio/video player application. A progress indicator on a progress bar is often used for the indication of the progress of a program. There may also be one or more status indicators on the progress bar. When a user drags the progress indicator along or within the progress bar and passes one or more status indicators, the computer system displays an indicating image between the starting position and the drag position in the progress bar for a pre-defined period of time. The indicating image can be generated by combining a layer associated with the progress indicator and layers associated with one or more status indicators that are passed. The current method and device make the display of progress indictor more distinctive and improve user experience.

Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed that relate to creating and providing an interactive video program. One disclosed embodiment includes combining a first interactive video segment of a first type and a second interactive video segment of a second, different type than the first segment. The first interactive video segment includes a first video component, a second video component related to the first component, and metadata including information related to a possible user input that triggers the second component. The interactive video program includes an active viewing route that proceeds through the first and second interactive video segments, and includes playback of the second component. The active viewing route is triggered by receipt of an actual user input that corresponds to the possible user input. The interactive video program also includes a passive viewing route that proceeds through the first and second interactive video segments without playback of the second component.

Abstract: Method and accompanying system for providing an in-video library. A video player presents a video stream to a user. During presentation of the video stream, the video player displays at least a portion of a library of selectable prerecorded video segments, and a selection of one or more of the prerecorded video segments from the library is received from the user. The video player further displays a video segment watch-list that includes the selected prerecorded video segments. The video player then presents the segments in the video segment watch-list as part of the video stream.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for generating a heads-up-display to assist users during performance of media manipulation operations. According to one embodiment, a transient heads-up-display is displayed during a media manipulation operation to assist the user in the media manipulation operation. The heads-up-display may, for example, depict three frames of a video clip when an audio clip is being positioned, on a timeline, relative to the video clip. The three frames that are depicted in the heads-up-display may be the frames located at the current starting position, cursor position, and ending position, of the audio clip. As the audio clip is being moved during the positioning operation, the three frames depicted in the heads-up-display change accordingly.

Abstract: A complex event processor is described which has a communications interface configured to retrieve event data by pulling it from one or more sources and to receive at least one live event stream pushed to the interface. An event processing pipeline connected to the communications interface comprises a plurality of operator nodes connected between the communications interface and a combiner node which is a node configured to combine event data from the source and from the live event stream. The communications interface is configured to retrieve events from the source and to push the events retrieved from the source along the event processing pipeline towards the combiner node. The communications interface is configured to retrieve and push the retrieved events only in response to request messages passed in an upstream direction from the combiner node to the communications interface along the pipeline.

Abstract: A method for retrieving and playing a TV program uses a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal captures one or more images of a TV program currently played on a TV using the image sensor and sends the images to a remote server. The remote server extracts a TV station identifier from the received images, compares the received images with images stored in an image library and corresponding to the TV station identifier, and determines an identity of the TV program when there is a match, generates an information record for the TV program, and returns the TV program information record to the mobile terminal, the TV program information record including a hyperlink to the TV program. After receiving the TV program information record from the remote server, the mobile terminal displays the hyperlink on the display of the mobile terminal.

Accordingly, rather than presenting such supplemental content upon an affirmative request or search by the user, the supplemental content is presented to the user automatically when the user rotates the computing device from a landscape position to a portrait position or vice versa.

The user network device selects content and communicates the content identifier to the partner provider through a network. The partner service provider communicates the content identifier and a user identifier to the primary provider. The primary service provider generates a recording instruction at the partner service provider in response to the content identifier and the user identifier and communicates the recording instruction to a user recording device associated with the user identifier. The user recording device records the content in response to the recording command.

A system comprises an electronic device having a user interface capable of displaying a WYSIWYG image of a label and providing access to regulatory information related to the displayed label. The system may further determine compliance with regulatory guidelines by a user-edited label. The electronic device may be, or be in communication with, a label printer to initiate printing of a displayed label. A method includes the steps of accessing a WYSIWYG image of a label and accessing regulatory information related to such label using a handheld electronic device. The method may further include the steps of verifying compliance of a label with regulatory guidelines or requirements and initiating printing of such label, which may be adhesive.

Abstract: In a touch-based device presenting a media content playback, a first increment of a first control is determined. The first control allows a user to move forward or back in the media content in steps of the first increment using a touch-based gesture. A second increment and a size of a second control is computed using the first increment and a factor. The second increment is smaller than the first increment. The second control is constructed and presented according to the second increment and the size of the second control, the second control allowing the user to move forward or back in the media content in steps of the second increment. Responsive to the user using the second control, a forward or back movement in the media content by a multiple of the second increment is performed.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide a new way to catalog digital assets derived or otherwise created from an original source such as a video, clip, movie, film, or the like. In one embodiment, time-based metadata, along with technical metadata and business metadata can be captured within a video and collected locally at a client device running media catalog client software. The collected information can be communicated to a media catalog server at the back end. The media catalog server can create a new asset based on the collected information and store the asset in a database. Multiple assets may be created to describe and reference the same video. However, the video itself is not modified and no variation of the video is created in anyway.

Abstract: A digital downloading jukebox system including a mechanism for delivering custom services to a recognized user, including services for creating playlists, communicating with others, accessing other features, etc. is provided. In some exemplary embodiments, after a user is recognized, the jukebox system allows users to access a special front-end via an Internet-enabled device or on an actual jukebox. Then, the user may, for example, create playlists, share songs with friends, send messages to friends, and access other value-added content. Such a system preferably learns about networks of friends, and enables managers to send similar messages to regular customers and/or others known to the system. In some exemplary embodiments, changes via a first user interface on a first device are reflected on second user interface on other properly-configured devices.

Abstract: The present invention comprises methods and user interfaces for organizing data displayed within a data application. Specifically, the present invention provides methods and systems for arranging the display of the data by a format applied to one or more portions of the data. The formats comprise different visual characteristics of the displayed data. In exemplary embodiments, the data application organizes the data by the fill color of the cell, the font color of the data within the cell, or the type of icon inserted into the cell.
