Abstract: Provided are a cutting information determination method that can use a simpler process to improve yield, and a strip-shaped polarizing sheet manufacturing method using such a method, an optical display unit manufacturing method using such a method, a strip-shaped polarizing sheet, and a polarizing sheet material. A cutting position in the width direction A2, in which a polarizing sheet material MP is to be cut along its longitudinal direction A1, is determined based on the numbers of defects counted with respect to plural points in the width direction A2 of the polarizing sheet material MP. This makes it possible to determine the cutting position in such a way that a region with many defects does not fall within the cut width, so that a higher-yield cutting position can be determined. The cutting position can also be determined using a simple process in which defects are counted with respect to plural points in the width direction A2.

Abstract: A tab system for a folder (10a), and a method of making same is disclosed. The tab is enlarged to carry more information/indicia. The visual indicia space(16a), i.e. the viewable space on the front (32a, 36a) of the folder which allows viewing of the enlarged tab is achieve without violating the overall size restrictions (40a) of the file folder. Instead, the front of the folder adjacent to the tab on the back panel, is cut away (32a,34a) to expose a greater portion of the back panel (14a) and allow an increase in visual indicia space. The remaining portion of the front panel, not adjacent to the tab may also be cut away (34a) to allow other enlarged tab files, with offset tabs,(22d, 21a) to be viewable behind the present file.

Abstract: In a brush cutter (100), when it is determined based on acceleration information including frequency components, supplied from an acceleration sensor (24) included in the brush cutter (100) that the acceleration shows a peak in a range of frequencies lower than 100 Hz, the flow moves to step S5 to amplify the acceleration peak. In next step S6, the acceleration peak is compared with a threshold. When the result of comparison shows that the acceleration peak is higher than the threshold, the flow moves to step S7 to produce a safety signal. The safety signal is output from the controller (26) to a high voltage generation circuit (30) to stop generation of a high voltage in the high voltage generating circuit (30). In this manner, the acceleration sensor (24) is used to detect any unexpected, sudden danger, while diminishing influence of the acceleration caused by vibration inherent to the own nature of the work apparatus, its intended regular operation and its posture change in regular operation.

Abstract: A process and a cutting machine for working of lying work pieces, particularly plates, glass-sheets, etc. on a machine-tool by means of a cutting fluid-jet (3), particularly of a laser-jet or a high-pressure water-jet on a lattice-like support (9). At least one fixed work piece is cut by the fluid-jet (3), especially water jet exiting from at least one first nozzle (2), so that the work piece (1 a) is preferably separated by a cut gap (7) from a rest piece (1 b). The respective working position of the nozzle (2) relative the work piece (1 a) is controlled. For hindering a tilting of the work piece (1 a) and/or the rest piece (1 b) during the processing of the work piece (1 a), border-fixing and distance-holding elements (8) are associated with the cut gap (7) in such a manner, that the neighboring border-fixing and distance-holding elements (8) are arranged from each other in a distance depending on the outline of the work piece (1 a) and/or of a respective length of the cut gap (7).

  • Patent number: 8776650
Abstract: A hole punch unit has a punching section, a longitudinal registering mechanism, and a transverse registering mechanism. The registering mechanisms incline the punching section in accordance with a skew of a sheet. The punching section thus corrected in position punches the sheet. The punching section is corrected in position, at both the leading edge of the sheet and the trailing edge thereof, thus increasing the precision of positioning the punching section and shortening the time required to position the punching section.

Abstract: Temperable and non-temperable coatings are provided which have similar optical characteristics. The non-temperable coating is placed on glass that is not to be tempered and provides certain optical characteristics. The temperable coating is placed on a glass substrate and the coated substrate is then tempered. After tempering, the coated tempered glass sheet and the coated non-tempered glass sheet have similar optical characteristics. Both coatings have a plurality of metal layers, with at least one of the metallic layers being a discontinuous layer with a primer layer over the discontinuous metal layer. For the non-temperable coating, the discontinuous metal layer has an effective thickness in the range of 1.5 nm to 1.7 nm. For the temperable coating, the discontinuous metal layer has an effective thickness in the range of 1.7 nm to 1.8 nm. The primer layer of the temperable coating is thinner than the primer layer of the non-temperable coating.

  • Patent number: 8770073
Abstract: A sheet punching apparatus capable of improving the accuracy of movement distance of a movable member and maintaining the durability of a drive unit of the apparatus. A sheet post-processing apparatus controller computes a time period corresponding to an amount of overrun of a slider at the time of stopping the slider in an initial operation. In a punching operation, the sheet post-processing apparatus controller starts a punch motor at a timing earlier by the computed time period corresponding to the amount of overrun than a stop timing of a conveyance motor.

Abstract: A method for single hand operation of a hand-held band saw is provided. The band saw has a frame and a handle extending from a longitudinal edge of the frame at an acute angle and opposite an edge containing a throat for receiving the work piece, and a continuous-loop blade traversing the throat. The orientation of the handle centers the mass of the saw below the hand and positions a cutting section of the blade in a vertical plane so it will engage a work piece at a preferred angle selected by the user.
