Abstract: A syringe includes a gasket, a barrel, and a plunger. The plunger includes a helical rib provided on an outer surface of a head portion, and the gasket comprises a helical valley portion for threadedly engaging with the helical rib, a plunger-retaining annular rib, and an accommodation portion for a part of the plunger at which the helical rib is formed. The annular rib comprises a rib absent portion for guiding, to the accommodation portion, the helical rib reaching the annular rib as threaded engagement is advanced between the plunger and the gasket. The helical rib comprises an entrance-restricting terminal end portion for restricting the entrance of the helical rib into the rib absent portion after the part of the plunger 4 at which the helical rib is formed is stored in the accommodation portion 32 of the gasket.

Abstract: A mechanical driver comprising a wedge shaped member operatively coupled to a shape memory alloy such that the shape memory alloy is able to displace the wedge shaped member in an essentially linear direction. The wedge shaped member is in constant contact with a lever arranged so that it can rotate about a fixed pivot point. A piston is arranged such that it is constant contact with the lever at a point between the pivot point of the lever and the contact point between the lever and the wedge shaped member. A battery is included in the light for powering the lamps. Abstract: A guide tip introducer is provided as a compatible attachment for a wide range endoscopic staplers of different makes and models. Abstract: A composition of a bone repair mixture has a quantity of allograft particulate bone having a bone particle distribution of particle sizes less than 700 micron and a quantity of biologic carrier material intermixed with the particulate bone. The biologic carrier material is one of fascia, deep fascia or a fascia mixture. Preferably, the carrier material is exclusively fascia lata.

Abstract: A syringe-assist device including a housing portion, an actuator portion, and a syringe-supporting member. The housing portion includes body defining an axial passage. The actuator portion is connected to and is partially disposed within the axial passage of the body. The syringe-supporting member is movably-disposed within the axial passage. The syringe-supporting member fluidly separates the axial passage into a first, proximal passage portion and a second, distal passage portion. The actuator portion is movably-disposed within the second, distal passage portion of the axial passage. The syringe-supporting member defines a fluid-flow passage that fluidly-connects the first, proximal passage portion of the axial passage to the second, distal passage portion of the axial passage. A method is also disclosed.
Abstract: Pistons for a syringe and syringe systems are disclosed. The pistons may include a base with a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a side portion extending between the first end and the second end. The piston may also include at least one engagement portion extending around the circumference of the side portion of the base. Another embodiment of the plunger head may include a proximal end, a distal end opposite the proximal end, and an intermediate portion connecting the proximal end and the distal end. The intermediate portion is tapered from the proximal end to the distal end. The syringe system includes a piston and a plunger rod. The plunger rod may include a first end and a second end with the first end pressingly contacting the distal end of the piston.

Abstract: The invention provides a syringe for use in an ophthalmic injection. The syringe comprises a body, a stopper and a plunger. The body comprises an outlet at an outlet end and the stopper is arranged within the body such that a front surface of the stopper and the body define a variable volume chamber from which a fluid can be expelled though the outlet. The plunger comprises a plunger contact surface at a first end and a rod extends between the plunger contact surface and a rear portion. The plunger contact surface is arranged to contact the stopper but not couple thereto, such that the plunger can be used to force the stopper towards the outlet end of the body, reducing the volume of the variable volume chamber, but not to move the stopper away from the outlet end.

Abstract: The present invention provides pharmaceutical formulations comprising a human antibody that specifically binds to human interleukin-4 receptor (hIL-4R). The formulations may contain, in addition to an anti-hIL-4R antibody, at least one amino acid, at least one sugar, or at least one non-ionic surfactant. The pharmaceutical formulations of the present invention exhibit a substantial degree of antibody stability after storage for several months.
Abstract: An injection device includes a housing for receiving a syringe or cartridge for containing a medicament; a rotary driveshaft mounted for rotation relative to the housing; and an elongate coiled torsion spring having respective formations at opposite ends thereof, with a first formation being anchored in a seat on the rotary drive shaft and a second formation being anchored in a seat on a reaction component. In use relative rotation of the rotary driveshaft and the reaction component in one angular direction strains the torsion drive spring, and release of the strained torsion drive spring causes expression of medicament from the syringe or cartridge. The torsion spring is longitudinally resiliently compressible between its end formations whereby during assembly of the injection device, the torsion spring may be longitudinally compressed and then rotated, thereby urging the end formations of the torsion drive spring into engagement with the respective seats.
