    Abstract: The invention concerns an anti-lock control system for braking vehicle wheels having a pickup element to determine the wheel velocity. An evaluating circuit connected to the output of the pickup element produces control signals for varying the fluid pressure in the braking system if the signals corresponding to the wheel velocities deviate by predetermined threshold values from the signals corresponding to the curve of the vehicle speed. Switching apparatus containing timing elements is provided which respond along the lines of a pressure reduction when the pressure control unit is initiated and then effect, for a short time, a switchover of the control. Furthermore, control signals are produced only in case of deviations by more than the maximum threshold value. Finally, testing apparatus is included which determines, after the threshold value has become effective, when the initiating signal disappears and which then maintains the switchover condition for a predetermined longer period of time.

    Abstract: A motor driven reciprocating blade dustless cutter which is provided with an angular cutting edge that operates with a die in order to cut the material by a shearing action. The stroke of the cutting blade and the slope of its cutting edge is such that only a portion of the blade passes through the material as the material is sheared. During each stroke, the cutter blade shears and forces only a small portion of sheared material out through the die as a continuous strip. The strip of material is substantially the same width as that of the thickness of the cutter blade.

    Abstract: Paint is removed from a painted surface by applying to the surface a solution containing an alkali metal hydroxide and a polyacrylate thickening agent having a viscosity which decreases above a predetermined transition pH. The initial pH of the composition is adjusted to just above the transition pH by including a sufficient amount of the hydroxide in the composition so that the composition is readily spreadable. As the pH of the composition falls during use its viscosity increases; thereby becoming more firmly attached to the surface; permitting the composition to remain in contact with the surface for a sufficient time to destroy the adhesion of the paint to the surface.The thickening agent is a cross-linked carboxylated copolymer of acrylic acid and methacrylate.

As the result of the injection of the fuel in the last portion of the intake stroke and the spin formation in the compressed charge with the aid of guided squeeze flows, a layering of the charge is attained, which improves the ignitability and the speed of complete combustion of the operational mixture introduced into the combustion chamber, with low intake and transfer losses.

    Abstract: A fuel injection valve and a method for the automatic establishment of the desired armature stroke of the fuel injection valve are proposed which serves the purpose of injection at low fuel pressures into the intake tube of a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine with externally-supplied ignition. The fuel injection valve includes a magnetic coil surrounding a core and a flat armature guided by at least one guide diaphragm held on its outer circumference, which is firmly connected with a movable valve element cooperating with a fixed valve seat. The fuel delivered via a fuel inlet nozzle can proceed through apertures and recesses in the guide diaphragms past the valve seat to a fuel discharge nozzle by way of which a portion of the delivered fuel can flow back again into a fuel return line. Via an annular channel the fuel stream exiting from the nozzle bore can be prepared with air which surrounds the fuel stream.

Further increase in power is attained by means of an increase in the fuel component made possible by the adjustment of injection onset without exceeding the smoke limit of combustion. Apparatus are furthermore proposed for performing the method according to the invention, in which with the aid of an acceleration signal obtained by hydraulic or electric elements an adjustment toward "early" is effected in a hydraulically functioning injection adjustment device.

    Abstract: A metering and distribution valve assembly is proposed for a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine. The metering and distribution valve assembly includes a control slide having a head 68 and a control edge and a slotted sleeve with at least two control slits. The control edge opens the control slits to a greater or lesser degree in accordance with the relative motion between the control slide and the control slits in the slotted sleeve. An end face of the control slide adjacent to the control edge is exposed to a control pressure which is lower than the system pressure engaging the control edge. The pressure drop at the circumference of the control slide head formed between the control edge and the end face is capable of being influenced in such a manner that the control slide head rests unilaterally on the slotted sleeve at least during a portion of the displacement movement. As a result, better metering precision is obtained.

    Abstract: A securing apparatus is proposed for electric fuel pumps intended for direct in-tank installation, which enables satisfactory removal of fuel vapor from the suction area of the pump, but prevents the transmission of vibration onto the fuel spinner fixedly mounted in the tank. This is accomplished in that the elastic properties of one or more rubber elements, directly connected in the form of sleeves to the pump, are maintained even with the effects of aging, since the rubber elements are primarily stressed only by shear or bending forces. The pump is inserted, with the mounted rubber element, into a corresponding device in the fuel spinner and, so far as this is necessary, secured with clamping elements. The rubber elements fulfill the functions of holding the pump, sealing the pump suction chamber from the tank, damping noise, and removing vapor in the tank.
