Abstract: A folding portable table includes an upper table surface, a number of folding table legs, and a lower table surface held between the legs by pins protruding from the perimeter of the lower table surface and slidably retained in grooves in the legs. The pins slide up and down in the grooves, allowing the lower table surface to be raised up to, or lowered down from, the upper table surface. When the lower table surface is raised up adjacent to the upper table surface, the legs can be folded under the upper table surface for transport and storage of the table. The table can be deployed by unfolding the legs and lowering the lower table surface down from the upper table surface. The grooves may be tapered from top to bottom such that the pins are frictionally bound in the deployed position in order to make the table stronger.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a folding wooden table is disclosed wherein the table retains the attractiveness of traditional wooden tables by having hidden hinges and leg supports, yet which folds flat for storage and requires no tools for assembly and disassembly. The underside of the table top has a side skirt pivotally secured adjacent to each side with at least one hinge so as to enable them to fold inward. End skirts are pivotally secured to the table top at each end with at least one hinge, and a pair of legs are secured to opposite ends of each end skirt to form a pivoting leg assembly. The legs preferably have an “L”-shaped cross-section to hide the support hardware yet provide an attractive exterior. The hinge is offset sufficiently inward from end skirt to allow legs to fold flat against the table top. An “L”-shaped support bracket is secured to each end of the side skirts with an appropriately positioned pivot.

Abstract: A system for injection molding a half-section of a collapsible table that includes a pair of interhinged half-sections. The system is provided with a mold whose dimensions are appropriate to the half-section to be molded therein, and a driven carrier adjacent one end of the mold having cautilevered therefrom parallel core rods that project into the mold. When the carrier is driven to cause the core rods to occupy an “in” position in which the rods are fully within the mold and extend the full length thereof, molten plastic is then injected into the mold to submerge the rods therein. When the plastic cures and rigidifies, parallel reinforcing beams are then created about the rods which are integrated with the resultant half-section. When the carder is driven to withdraw the rods from the mold which are now in an “out” position, the reinforcing beams are then hollow and the resistance of the half-section to bending forces is enhanced.
