Abstract: A can for extemporaneous preparation of beverages by extraction and/or infusion including a first chamber configured to collect a final beverage, a second chamber containing a drinkable liquid, and a filtering device containing a substance to produce the required beverage by extraction and/or infusion. The can is configured to be put onto a heating source after opening the can lid and operating the filtering device by the user. The lid includes: an outer rim portion configured to remain fixed to the can lateral wall when opening the can; an inner removable portion configured to be ripped to open the can; and a predetermined breaking line separating the inner removable portion from the outer rim portion. The breaking line is provided in an annular portion forming part of the lid and made of plastic material. The outer part of the annular portion part of the outer rim portion while the inner part thereof is part of the inner removable portion.

Abstract: An assembly includes a container and a closure. The closure includes a tamper-indicating band having a plurality of sloping teeth. Each of the sloping teeth of the tamper-indicating band has an engagement surface that is engageable with one of the engagement surfaces of the sloping teeth of the container. The sloping teeth on the tamper-indicating band are configured such that when one of the teeth on the tamper-indicating band completely engages one of the teeth on the exterior surface of the neck of the container, the engagement surface of at least one of the other sloping teeth on the tamper-indicating band is free from engagement with the engagement surfaces of the sloping teeth of the container and the engagement surface of at least one of the other sloping teeth of the container is free from engagement with the engagement surfaces of the sloping teeth on the tamper-indicating band.

Abstract: A plastic screw cap has a threaded top portion and tabs of varying heights disposed around an inner circumference of a lower sleeve-portion. These tabs clasp a land disposed on a container neck to restrain the sleeve portion on the neck when the cap is unscrewed. A threaded top portion mates with threads on the container above the land. A sealing liner and diffusion barrier disposed at the bottle opening, together with a crush-resistant cap structure, prevent wine leakage and control oxygen ingress. Typically, the plastic cap is threaded onto the container neck, forming a tamper-evident seal. When unscrewed, the plastic-cap top moves up the container threads, exerting a pull on the sleeve portion, which is restrained due to the closure tabs acting on the land. Between the closure tabs and the threaded top is a breakaway line, which tears due to the removal forces. This tear evidences tampering.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to a closure having a cap coupled to a sleeve defining a frangible connection between the cap and the sleeve. A preselected geometry is provided between the cap and the sleeve proximate to the frangible connection which allows for formation of a clean break between the cap and the sleeve when the cap is broken away from the sleeve. An extended bead is also provided with consistent material distribution on the bead proximate to a juncture of the cap to the sleeve after the cap is broken away from the sleeve. A projection is additionally provided on the cap which projects at an angle. The projection has a generally tapering leg of reduced thickness that terminates in a vertical wall segment. The projection also has the bead that is formed located on an outer corner of the projection after the frangible connection is broken.

In particular, the package is configured such that from a fully applied position of the closure on the container, the closure is movable through a predetermined angle prior to actuation of the tamper-evident feature on the package. In this fashion, the torque which must be applied to the closure for overcoming the static friction at the sealing interface between the closure and the container can be overcome prior to the application of torque required for operating the tamper-evident feature of the package. The present invention contemplates enhancing the opening performance of the package by configuring the package to include certain structure features to facilitate convenient, consistent, and comfortable use by consumers.

Abstract: A latching system including both apparatus and methods addresses the need for a reusable latch that is identical on either side of a container opening, thereby facilitating container manufacture. Also disclosed are apparatus and methods for assuring the quality of latch able container enclosed contents and enhancing the safety of container users by providing an unopened condition assurance element such as a tab that is removable from a reusable container latch. A novel latching system with a split insertion clement on a first latch side and unitary receptor element on a second latch side is also disclosed. A preferred embodiment involves an elastically obstructed latch as used on a squeeze-openable container.

The top includes a base, a nozzle portion extending from a first end of the base, and a tab integrally formed with the nozzle portion at a neck down portion. The nozzle portion has an outer wall defining an internal conduit for passage of a liquid, powder and/or gel. The tab includes a tip end sealing the internal conduit and at least one shock absorbing portion. When the tab is twisted, the tip end is removed from the nozzle portion at the neck down portion, thereby opening the internal conduit. The shock absorbing portion can include a slot, an area with reduced thickness, a flex area, or a combination thereof. The top can be included on a container for storing liquids, powders and/or gels.

The closure also comprises a region of reduced wall thickness 11 that defines a fracture line that facilitates separation of the cap from the closure. The cap 9 has two diametrically opposed inwardly projecting tabs 23 that cause a greater amount of post-moulding shrinkage than the adjacent parts of the cap after injection moulding of the closure. Consequently, the tabs 23 place a section of the region of reduced wall thickness that in alone to the tabs 23 in tension whereby this section preferentially fractures when a person applies force to separate the cap from the closure.

After the lid has been torn free of the peripheral covering portion, the lid can be closed and latched to the base device and then can be easily opened again.

The activation member of the a first container system can be configured to release heated gases from a second container system by depressing the flap of the second system when the first system is stacked on top the second system. The container system can also comprise a dome surface, at least one stacking rib and an aperture surface. The aperture surface can comprise the aperture and flap. The aperture surface can be at least partially above the dome surface and below the at least one stacking rib. The aperture surface may be sloped.

Abstract: A knockout in a sidewall of a plastic electrical box has a slot for receiving a screwdriver tip to apply a knockout force to the knockout. The slot is located adjacent the box bottom wall to minimize deformation of the sidewall by a knockout force.

Abstract: A package suitable for containing marking material used in a printing machine. The package includes a package surface adapted to engage one or more surfaces of the printing machine and a material identifier mechanism for verifying the marking material. The package may also include a material pouch, which is adapted to contain the marking material, joined with or formed in the package surface. Alternatively, the package may include a carrier adapted to engage one or more surfaces of the printing machine and a material pouch joined with the carrier. Other aspects include a method of remanufacturing a package suitable for containing marking material used in a printing machine.
