  • Patent number: 5490684
Abstract: A camera dolly has a split chassis having front and rear sections connected by a journal. A hydraulic limiter dampens pivoting movement between the front and rear chassis sections. The limiter may be adjustable to provide variable dampening. Face plates on the front and rear chassis sections bear against each other in sliding engagement. The split chassis dolly or pedestal simulates 3-point suspension when the pedestal is at rest, when there is sufficient time for the front and rear sections to pivot with respect to each other and simulates 4-point suspension when the pedestal rolls on the floor as the intermittent forces acting to rotate the front end rear sections with respect to each other during rolling are resisted by hydraulic dampening.

The stops on the front link are in the form of pivoted members which abut lugs on the rear frame causing the members to swing about their pivots during turning movements. • Patent number: 4290623
Abstract: An articulated tractor that has its front and rear sections pivotally connected along the tractor's axis of articulation. The lead surface of the rear section and the trailing surface of the front section form an articulation space which is in close proximity to the articulation axis. To improve this arrangement, a cover is provided which substantially encompasses the articulation space with an enclosure. The enclosure incorporates at least two flexible bellows, which are opaque between their forward, rearward, top and bottom edges. The enclosure also includes four bands, a plurality of elements rigidly securing one of the bands to each of the forward and rearward edges of the bellows, and a plurality of members rigidly secured to the bands. The cover also utilizes a support to pivotally support the enclosure. This support is rigidly secured to either the front or the rear section of the tractor.

  • Patent number: 4281848
Abstract: An articulated joint for an articulated vehicle. Upper and lower pivotal connections, each employing a ball and socket, allow pivoting of two vehicle sections about a vertical axis. The ball of the lower joint is attached to one section while the socket is attached to the other section of the vehicle. The socket and ball of the upper joint are attached to a support member free to move along a shaft in a transverse direction between two stops. The ball of the upper joint is free to move along a vertical shaft joined to the other section of the vehicle. The transverse shaft provides a bearing surface to transmit loads between the two vehicle sections. Seals along the support member prevent entrainment of dirt along the shaft and bearing. The stops are part of the structure attaching the transverse shaft to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4261593
Abstract: A relatively compact and lightweight planting and fertilizing apparatus is attached to a small garden tractor by a universal hitch which restricts lateral movement between the two. The apparatus is spring biased downwardly to assure film contact with the ground, and can be raised above the ground by a single lever. The lever carries the biasing spring, and cams lifting bearings on the lever against a lifting plate on the apparatus. The fertilizer is fed by an axially adjustable feed gear rotated by a ground engaging wheel on the apparatus. The feed gear is biased by an adjusting spring against a threaded adjusting knob which sets the axial position of the feed gear.

  • Patent number: 4215874
Abstract: An articulation lock is disclosed for locking the pivot connection between the front and rear frames of an articulated vehicle for operations such as maintenance and transporting. The articulation lock includes a sector-shaped locking plate mounted to the forward end of a pivot plate on the rear frame and having a plurality of arcuate recesses which establish locking positions. As the vehicle articulates, the locking plate passes between a pair of pivot plates on the front frame. A removable locking pin is stored next to the operator's seat, and the operator removes it from storage and pushes it into a lock hole in the top pivot plate of the pair of pivot plates on the front frame when it is desired to lock the articulation joint.
