Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for determining call importance using social network context. A system can receive a call from a caller and establish the identity of the caller. The system can then retrieve a social network context associated with the caller identity from a social network and determine an importance score for the call using the social network context. Social network contexts can be derived from a social network profile, caller utterances, and a social graph. Based on the importance score, the contact center provides an appropriate level of customer service. The level of customer service a contact center provides can be based on resource availability, call type, call time, agent queue selection, offered communication modalities and customer follow-up.

Abstract: A configurable PSTN call-handling (CPC) service enables monitoring and custom responses to calls received over multiple subscriber lines. A CPC Client Program runs on a computer and presents a graphical user interface (GUI) that allows the user to associate call-handling options with call characteristics. The GUI also allows the user to customize the notification signals provided and to provide custom responses to certain callers, by associating call characteristics with various GUI appearances, sound files, or images. The CPC relieves the communications network of performing certain call-handling functions, such as call forwarding, by moving decision-making processes to the user's PC. The user can remotely monitor any subscriber line associated with the user from any browser, because the communications network sends notifications directly to an IP address specified by the user. The IP address associated with a computer connected to the subscriber line need not be the IP address specified by the user.

Abstract: A phone system with a methodology for call parking is described. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a user of a communications endpoint device can use a user interface at the communications endpoint device to select persons to notify of a parked call. Upon successfully parking the call, the phone system notifies the selected persons in the manner specified in their account profiles. Such manner can include sending an e-mail to the selected person or sending a text message to the selected person. Advantageously, the manner for notifying the selected persons of the parked call is determined by the selected persons themselves through configuration of their account profiles thereby alleviating the user parking the call from having to determine the manner for notifying the selected persons.

Abstract: The invention relates to the field of Computer telephony Integration and in particular to the migration of the interface standardised according to ECMA-29 to the private branch exchange (PBX) via a CSTA gateway. The clients (C1-C4) in the data network subscribe to CTI Services and in this regard must be reachable by the CSTA gateway (CCGW). If this is not the case, because for example an error occurs in the data network, then the transmission of unnecessary messages should be prevented or stopped. The problem is solved in that the clients are connected via a server (XS) to the CCGW, wherein the server monitors the Status of the clients and acknowledges the messages addressed to an unreachable client with error messages. The server (XS) is preferably an XMPP server and the clients (C1-C4) are preferably XMPP clients.

Abstract: Embodiments provide caller information in multiple languages to multiple receiving communication devices. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a call request from a sending endpoint communication device connected to a network. Caller identification information associated with the call request is obtained, where the caller identification information includes one or more identifications associated with the sending endpoint communication device. Each identification specifies the same content in a different language. The call request and at least one of the identifications are transmitted over the network to be received by receiving endpoint communication devices connected to the network. Each receiving endpoint communication device can output at least one of the received identifications specified in a language designated for use by that receiving endpoint communication device.

Abstract: A scatterer gatherer method and device configured to remotely manipulate an apparatus. The scatterer sends a group of identical packets through a network. The route each packet takes through the network is determined by the network. The time taken for a first packet of a group to travel from origin to destination is unequal from that taken by a second packet of the group. A gatherer is configured to receive each packet, determine which is the first of the group of identical packets to arrive, store the first and discard the later arriving packets of the group. The gatherer further configured to interpolate to determine a value for a missing group of packets should none of the group arrives within a predetermined time. Abstract: A voice and text mail application method and apparatus capable of supporting both synchronous and asynchronous voice communication. The application is configured to (i) simultaneously and progressively store media of an incoming message as the media is received at a communication device over the network and (ii) provides a “catch up” rendering option which enables the rendering of previously received media of the message starting at any previous point of the message and to catch up the rendering to the current point or head of the message as the media of the message is being received. By rendering the previously received media of the incoming message out of storage at a rate faster relative to when the media of the incoming message was originally encoded, eventually the rendering will catch up and seamlessly transition the rendering from an asynchronous time-shifted mode out of storage to a synchronous mode as the media of the message is received over the network.
