Having Transmission Of A Digital Message Signal Over A Telephone Line Patents (Class 379/93.01)
  • Patent number: 8537912
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus that includes a plurality of parallel digital signal transmitters that each receive one of a plurality of digital sub-signals wherein each of the plurality of digital signal transmitters is configured to transmit one of the plurality of digital sub-signals that each have about the same bandwidth. The apparatus also includes a combiner coupled to the transmitters and configured to shift some of the plurality of digital sub-signals and to combine the plurality of shifted digital sub-signals into a combined digital signal that has a total bandwidth of that is approximately equal to the sum of the bandwidths of the plurality of digital sub-signals. The total bandwidth comprises a plurality of shifted bandwidths of the plurality of digital sub-signals at about the same offset with respect to each other. The combined digital signal is transmitted over a digital subscriber loop.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for preventing data loss in a VoIP system. In particular, during a VoIP call, it is determined whether incoming ringing on a POTS line causes an unacceptable level of signal loss or errors. If so, for subsequent VoIP calls, the CO handling calls to the POTS line is instructed to either answer each call with a busy signal or automatically forward calls to the POTS line to the VoIP line or other selected telephone. Calling returns to normal upon ending of the VoIP call. In this manner, incoming ringing on the POTS line does not result in call dropping or lengthy retraining processes.

The PD can demonstrate accurate instantaneous frequency estimation and rapid convergence in dynamic complex signal environments, even when the frequency of its input may change rapidly. A direct PD architecture can estimate the instantaneous frequency of a complex primary signal, iteratively adapting a phase of a complex exponential by minimizing the mean squared error of a complex error signal. Instantaneous frequency can be directly estimated from the phase of the complex exponential. In contrast, an indirect PD architecture can estimate the instantaneous frequency of a complex primary signal, iteratively adapting a complex coefficient by minimizing the mean squared error of a complex error signal. Instantaneous frequency can be indirectly estimated by extracting the phase of the complex coefficient.

Abstract: Extensible media and/or activity sharing within a voice call or concurrent real-time communication session is enabled. A concurrent voice call may contextualize shared media and/or activities. Users may share live experiences within the context of a voice call. Continuous, changing real-time media types such as periodic media (e.g., a user's current location) and streaming media (e.g., what the user is currently “seeing” through their personal video camera) may be shared, as well as interactive activities and atomic media types such as an image or a text message. Such sharing may have a unidirectional modality, for example, one party may offer to share media and/or an activity and another party may accept or reject it. Once accepted, the media and/or activity may be available until the sharing party terminates the call or ends the sharing. Conventional mobile computing environments may be adapted to enable rapid, wide-spread adoption of these communication modalities.

  • Patent number: 8412782
Abstract: A method and email system for improving efficiency of email discussion within an email client comprising: an email tag filter for filtering a special tag in email contents, extracting original email contents, and identifying tag related information which includes at least an author name corresponding to the email contents; and a content style setting component for receiving and keeping the tag related information fed by the email tag filter, then identifying which part of the email contents is written by which author according to the tag information, and assigning correct style to corresponding contents using a user customization style for each author. The invention differentiates different users mainly by automatically labeling the contents input by the users, and the input contents can be distributed in different positions within a single email, which matches the natural convention of the current users to use the email system.

  • Patent number: 8406234
Abstract: A method is disclosed for processing multiple, simultaneous incoming calls directed to a single communication device. The method includes receiving, by a proxy server associated with a called communication device, an invitation for each incoming call directed to the called communication device. The method also includes determining, by the proxy server upon receipt of each invitation, the availability of the called communication device by suspending transmission of each invitation and by sending to the called communication device an associated call initiation message for each invitation. The associated call initiation message is free of a Session Description Payload (SDP). The method further includes receiving, by the proxy server, at least one answer message from the called communication device, each answer message being associated with a selected incoming call.

  • Patent number: 8406391
Abstract: An arrangement includes a transformer having a primary winding and a secondary winding, the transformer exhibiting an impedance across the primary winding, and an impedance synthesis circuit. The impedance synthesis circuit includes a transfer function element having a frequency spectrum. The transfer function element has associated a gain element and a current source controlled by the transfer function element. The impedance synthesis circuit is connected to said secondary winding, so that the transformer mirrors the impedance synthesized by the impedance synthesis circuit into the impedance across said primary winding. The primary winding is adapted to define the high voltage side of an XDSL splitter, while the impedance synthesis circuit connected to the secondary winding is inherently a low voltage circuit.

Perception by the recipient of the audio identifier is conditioned on whether the digital communication is determined to be associated with the audio identifier. The audio identifier is perceived prior to or concurrent with perception of the digital communication by the recipient.

Abstract: A system and method for an outside caller, when put on-hold, to select media content from options provided through a telephone switching system including Private Branch Exchanges (PBX's) using Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) are provided. The system is software or software/hardware configured to present to outside callers, while placed on hold, options for selecting available media. The software detects the selection made by the caller using a telephone keypad, voice recognition, or other input device and puts the selected media on the telephone line. The media content, audio or audio with video, can be updated with new content by manually loading into memory of the PBX Server or an appliance connected to the PBX Server. Content can also be downloaded from sources on the Internet and it can be downloaded or uploaded by media content providers to customers using the embodiment of this invention.

  • Patent number: 8401158
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided that use resources more efficiently for calls originating and terminating in a first address space that use services in an IP address space. A call is established from an originator in a first address space to an IP device within an IP address space. The IP device sends a message to a switch in the first address space indicating a new destination in the first address space. The established call is released and a second call is established from the originator in the first address space to the new destination in the first address space. In another implementation, a first leg of a call is established to an IP device from a first address space. The IP device establishes a second leg of a call to a destination in the first address space. The calls are bridged and resources released.

Abstract: Uploading data to a call connection service by providing data records associated with a call destination in a user-selected manner. Navigation instructions are obtained concerning a particular data record in response to the data navigation instructions. An indication is received to upload the call destination associated with the particular record to the call connection service. In response to the indication, a routine is executed to acquire a portion of the data record and upload the portion to the call connection service in a format suitable for handling. Alternatively, data can be provided to the call completion service in an automated manner, including in response to an unconnectability condition detected during the call process, either during call initiation or after the call has been connected, and when calls are received at a secondary user device.
