  • Publication number: 20110064346
Abstract: A vertically mountable shaft and bearing assembly includes a thermally insulated housing which protects the shaft, bearing(s), seal(s), and bearing lubricant from overheating due to a surrounding process fluid at a temperature exceeding 65° C. The thermal insulation, which in some embodiments includes vacuum, air, or an insulating material, enables a rolling element bearing to be located near the shaft's distal end, thereby reducing shaft and bearing size requirements. Lubricant is circulated past the bearing(s) by a circulation and cooling system having a capacity typical of systems used with process fluids at much lower temperatures. Additional roller and/or journal bearings can be included. The lubricant circulation system can be actuated by the shaft or driven separately. Lubricant within the shaft housing can be pressurized, for example by pressurizing gas or by filling the lubricant above the surrounding process fluid level. The shaft can operate a process fluid pump impeller.

Abstract: The object is to sufficiently suppress heat-up of a rolling bearing for an alternator, prevent deterioration of lubricating grease due to heat-up of the rolling bearing, and to extend the lubricating life of the rolling bearing. Lubricating grease G is prepared which comprises a base oil having a dynamic viscosity of 13 to 73 cSt at 40° C., and thickened by an aromatic urea thickening agent. This lubricating grease G is sealed in the interior of a rolling bearing sealed by seal members 5 provided at both end surfaces of the bearing such that the lubricating grease accounts for 20% or more by volume of the entire inner void space of the bearing, and 80% or less by volume of a stationary inner space of the bearing. With this arrangement, it is possible to suppress heating of the bearing due to resistance produced when base oil bleeding into the bearing is stirred, while maintaining viscosity necessary for lubrication. Abstract: The present invention provides water-resistant grease which improves the resistance to peeling which occurs from the surface of a bearing composed of carbon steel for machine structural use or the like even in a strict lubricating condition in which water may penetrate into the water-resistant grease during the operation of the bearing, and a rolling bearing and a hub bearing which use the water-resistant grease and have a long life. The water-resistant grease is composed of non-water-based base oil, a thickener, and a water dispersant used as an additive. The saturated amount of water dispersible in the water-resistant grease is 30 to 60 wt %. The water dispersant capable of dispersing the water in the water-resistant grease is a surface active agent. The non-water-based base oil is mineral oil. The thickener is a urea-based compound. The present invention also provides a rolling bearing and a hub bearing in which the water-resistant grease is enclosed.
